Paul McCartney 2015 Rumors

The 2007 L'Olympia show is gonna be hard to beat.

What I'd like to know is- why this venue has been rumoured both this year and last year when obviously last year never happened?
Sometimes negotiations fail or some other reason prevents a concert from happening at the date originally planned. However, when the interested parties keep trying, they eventually succeed at a later time.

If Paris is going to happen, I wish it would be announced soon. I don't really want to go all the way to Paris and book a hotel, but the only advantage is that I think I can navigate around if I have to. I feel the same.... Either Paris, Holland or Verona/Italy would be a show in a country that I'd really enjoy the excuse to visit!! Hoping to hear something soon...

Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything further about the possibility of a show at the Budokan? Thanks! Andrew.

I wonder where the gig will be. This is very frustrating!! But I doubt SNL is his "stop" this year. The only reason Irving Plaza happened was because 90% of the tickets were private! It was literally a private gig and we got the leftovers. I hope he'll do a public show.
Didn't they sell about 1000 tickets at $40? They place only holds about 1500 or less so by my math only about 25% of the tickets were "private."
700 of those 1,000 were for celebrity guests and VIPs. 300 were available for us normal folks. So actually 70% private. Those seats were $550 and were sold well in advance.
Okay. I thought that the wristbands started at #1, and someone here said they had nine hundred something, so hence the confusion.

Latest French rumours, still from Zegut : Marseille - Stade Velodrome : June 5th - http://www.byzegut.fr/2015/02/paul-mccartney-stade-velodrome-de_28.html Paris - Stade de France : June 11th - http://www.byzegut.fr/2015/02/paul-mccartney-stade-de-france-11-juin.html

I'm going to be torn if the 11th and not the 27th of June is the date for Paris, if at all. A weekend trip is just easier to plan. Yet, I still think some other sources have to leak. Maybe the bigger question is about Europe in general.
-
Let's put the rumors together, then: May: Latin America (rather unlikely at this point) June 5: Marseille June 11: Paris Late June/July/August: US and Canada I'm beginning to think that after South Korea he will take a short break and then tour Europe from late May to early June.

There is a small gap at the start of June between multiple(yet scattered) dates for both Fleetwood Mac and Take That at the O2 London. Arenas have down days(closed), but it seems like something could be penciled in a couple of days before June 5th. To restart the tour, does this seem logical? Also, what cities have usually been the first dates of the European tours?
-
As long as he does the NYC gig in June or late July, I'm good. If not, I'll put that money towards U2
-
Well, we do know for fact he will play a show in the US on June 19th. Heard anything, Bob Gannon? Any hints like last year? Lol
-
If those European dates (June 5 & 11, and maybe others) are eventually confirmed, they would be quite close to the Firefly festival on June 19. There would be no time to do a series of US concerts as a warm-up, which means Firefly may end up being the opening night of the US tour. A rather bold choice!
-
If the setlist remains as-is, there will be absolutely nothing "bold" about kicking off the latest leg of this tour at Firefly.
-
Paul probably couldn't sell out one of those venues in France never mind both.

That's why I'm not returning to Japan. I saw 3 OUT THERE shows in 13 and 2 in the US last year. Not going around again for more of the same. ...or even largely more of the same.

France. Serious rumors of the first two concerts of European mini-tour of Paul. http://www.lastfm.es/music/Paul+McCartney/+events 1- june 5 2015 Stade Velodrome, Marseille. 2- june 11 2015. Stade de France. Saint denis. Paris.

Still can't really wrap my head around the size of those rumoured dates. Stadiums?! Will be hard to get used to not being simply somewhere at the front, few meters away from McCartney. Especially with that big unnecessary gap, on top of the already unusual big gap in between the stage and the barrier, you wonder what getting there early to get to the front still means. And damn, especially in June, it won't be dark until 'Golden Slumbers', really a mood killer. Guess we got lucky with the usual arenas spread across the countries in 2009-2012.

Yeah, a few years back when I saw him in Cincinnati, it was daylight till around Long and Winding Road, if memory serves me correctly. Not a fan of the stadium gigs anymore. Hard to get close, yet you still pay the premium if you want on the field. I'll take an arena over stadium, any day. But here's the thing... From a business perspective, stadiums sell more tickets, and 1 show covers the market demand in the city. While I'm sure there is a longer setup time for the massive outdoor stage, there are much more tickets being sold in the premium range than even 2 nights in an arena. Plus it's 1 night of voice usage vs. two. I predict more stadium shows this summer, much to my dismay.

Yes, it's all about the money, that's obvious. The only non-arena/venue gig I saw by him, June in Central Europe as well, 2010, it wasn't fully dark until 'Live And Let Die', just in time for the inevitable pyro. Can't remember much of the gig as well, very underwhelming because of the situation and atmosphere. McCartney gave it all, as always, mind. Saw Eminem in Stade De France in August 2013. Same situation. You won't get me back into a stadium of that proportion for a concert ever again. And trust me, I do week long festivals, many gigs a month of all proportions, that's not it, but those places like Stade De France just aren't build for a music experience. I'm also surprised because in Europe 75 euro gigs just doesn't sell that quick, and now since 2013 he topped it up with up to 4 times his usual capacity venues, and probably the double in admission price. Curious to see how this will go.

If memory serves, both Quebec City (first time) and Halifax were scouted an entire year in advance too. This often happens; if the venue is suitable the negotiations begin and the show could take up to a year to happen. No stadium is built for music experience, but plenty of artists play them including Paul. For that matter most arena's aren't built for musical experiences either!
