Can't argue with the top 3 with Dylan being #1. I was pleasantly surprised they had Paul ranked ahead of John. Personally, I would have Brian Wilson higher than 12 also.

^ I was very surprised too that Paul ranked so high & in front of John.

While I can't stand Dylan's "singing" he has written some great songs. I would still rate Paul #1, John #2 before him. And agree, Brian Wilson should be higher.

These lists are so subjective and their top 15 are all indisputably great. But putting John Prine at no. 94 is a travesty.

Give it a week or two. Rolling Stone comes up with some new listing of whatever every other month or year. I don't know why they do..or why anyone pays any attention. Do they really get more people interested in them or find them credible????

They still are a major music magazine that everyone has heard of so they still have some weight IMO. I believe they do listings like this to get attention and to drum up discussion which is not a bad thing. As we all know, Music taste is subjective and there really is no right or wrong. I am sure as years go by, John and Paul will drop in revised list as they put some rap/hip hop artist ahead of them -lol
