"Out There" 2013 Setlist Critique and Suggestions

kelly campbell:
I don't think it has to be a Beatles tune since he did open with Venus and Mars/Rockshow...
True but unfortunately he cut it short.

Still rocked though...

I give the Brazillian crowd much props for their enthusiasm, they really show McCartney love no matter what song he's playing, that's more than I can say for some American audiences! As for the setlist, the only new songs I like are... Eight Days A Week- this is an excellent choice, a real crowd pleaser Listen To What The Man Said- another excellent choice Hi Hi Hi- Yet another excellent choice and about freaking time, the only problem is it's location in the setlist, this one should be an encore. The rest gets a total YAWN from me! Mr. Kite - you've got to be joking, this is better than a rocker like The Mess, no way! All Together Now - better than House Of Wax, That Was Me, Getting Closer, no way! I won't even comment on the rest, how very dissappointing! Guys that one word shows up like I used profanity, I didn't, the word is freak.

I hope "Eight Days A Week" is played when I go. It's just a happy song, audience participation with the claps, plus I'm taking my young nieces, and that is the song that hooked them on the Beatles! I'm not telling them that he is playing it; hoping it will be a nice surprise for them.

"Eight Days a Week" genuis pop song
-
I'm really glad he played 'eight days a week' . such a melodic, beautiful and happy song. even though john used to describe it as "trash" =D

See this is why he doesn't usually change set-lists.....instead of embracing the fact that he's gotten much more experimental....certain folks want to knock him for his choices. If you don't like the choices, just don't go to the show!! I applaud him, regardless of what choices have been made, for him this is a giant leap to change so many things and I hope it will continue with tours down the line because then you might get a song like "the mess" played at some point. The other alternative is to play the same 37 songs that are usually played. I'm excited to see these new songs played...some may not be the ones that I would have picked but hell, happy he changed tact and made a big change!! YOU GO MACCA!!!

Yeah, one think people cannot say is that Paul plays the same thing over and over again. I don't have any issues with the set list, it is that he won't play the city where I live.

exactly....I hope he does not get word of all the complaining and decide to change ANYTHING...ya know there are a lot of songs I would like..but I am thrilled that there are 8 or nine new songs that I have never heard live. Some people are complaining that there are too much Beatles and he did not do anything other than My Valentine from the past 30 years well, yes I could get into more of his solo stuff and I could get into Some other wings stuff...but damn enough already. I like hearing anything he does.

Same here! I would love to hear the same set list he did on Saturday in July!

This is a fan board and people can express their opinion and I personally don't care if you had enough already. I am one of those who said that I would like to hear songs done more recently than 30 yrs ago. My reason is that I bought these CD's and I would love to hear some of the songs live in concert. You are thrilled you are going to hear 8-9 songs you have never heard live before and I am glad for you. I wish you would give myself and others the same courtesy when we may disagree what would thrill us in a McCartney set list - lol.
-
well as you said I have an opinion also and I can express it here also..When I say enough already I am saying how long and how many times do people feel they have to express the opinions, I understand everyone has an opinion. I too have bought those cd's but I am not gonna keep bitching because he did not play what I wanted, he is not playing for me he is playing for everyone. LOL

I certainly don't mean to sound like I'm telling anyone what to do, but if you are fed up with set list debate then why enter a thread called "Out There 2013 Setlist Critique and Suggestions"? If it bothers you that much then I would perhaps suggest you stay away from threads like this, then you'll not be bothered.

Seems to make sense to me, Dr. Love Songs.

Yeah, I said that too yesterday. I'd love some songs from the last 30 years. And for that, I've even been accused of not liking Paul. What a bunch of BS some of these people are.

People here have a right to criticize Paul for his choices. I think it is disrespectful and I've said it before. But I also have a right to defend his choice to play any damn thing he pleases for 55,000 people who obviously enjoyed the concert!
