would be a thrill if he sang "Help!" it occurs to me, I thought maybe they shouldn't have done that silly movie "Help!" but the songtrack redeems it "Help!" sounds like sort of a cool rockabilly-influenced number to me, kind of folk rock too, and kind of another genuis song
No, no, no, no, NO! He does not need more Beatles songs weighing down the set. He needs to delve into his more recent work and stop harping on about the Beatles! Besides, the solo stuff is as good if not better than the Beatles. Less Help, more Hope (of Deliverance!)
Might be a BIT of an overstatement...... :
but just an opinion.
Again, thank you for sticking up for someone with the 'unpopular opinion'! People round here don't like it if you don't conform and lap up the Beatles, do they! Jeeeez...
I wasn't even referring to opinons. If you look at the songs and JUST the songs...pretend Paul McCartney has nevr performed live and all we have are recordings. Would the solo stuff be "good if not better than the beatles"? Try to leave all bias out, it is hard. The means of recording songwriting and, performance on record by The Beatles albums blows away McCartney albums. Don't get me wrong, most McCartney albums are TOP NOTCH. I want more solo in the setlist, but at the expense of "Let it Be" or "Hey Jude"? Come on...be realistic...

That's what made '89 and '90 comeback tour so special. It's been done! Regardless of who was born then or not.

Not to take a sharp personal turn or anything but, with that attitude...I would've never heard "Hey Jude" live. Does any fan of Paul McCartney's music deserve that?

They deserve "House Of Wax" more...because it's a solo track. Not a track by The Beatles.

I agree...Look at sales alone...I bet paul considers what the dollars for each has done for him...Just as stated on here that is why he plays more Beatles in Brazil..I do not believe that is the case because I think he will not drastically change the setlist for here. Sorry Audi..I love the Wings and solo stuff but like the old saying "Dance with the one who brought you. I would have been really disappointed the first time I saw him if he did not do those classics. In my opinion this forum appears to be slanted more towards the solo and Wings material, and that is fine but this is a minute percentage of the world of music fans, most do not take the time to get into a lot of the solo material. Just my opinion..Don't crucify me..LOL

"Hey Jude," "Let It Be," "Yesterday" and "Maybe I'm Amazed" are the defining songs of his career. That's fine with me.

Okay, this is where we aren't lining up then. Hey Jude is a track recorded by The Beatles. But no matter what the credits say it was written by Paul McCartney so, it's his song. I view Paul's career as ONE entity, because it is. It should not matter when Paul McCartney wrote that song, or who played on it, or wht chart position it reached but how good the song is and ow well it hs stood the test of time. For "Hey Jude", it has stood the test as one if not his most popular song. ...does "Being for the benefit of mr. kite!" fall into this category? Not. one. bit. ......but my opinion is VERY excited to hear it. ops:

I also think that we need to know how much input Paul had in that song, but I agree it is more of a John song and ..I welcome it would I rather hear Uncle Albert or mull of kyntire sure I would...

OK... 12 years being a member of this forum- I still find it disheartening.. ppl ganging up on others.. I personally know, some members, on this forum.. some great lovely ppl... it seems like some, like to talk a bunch of smack.. to provoke or in site fights~ ridiculous.. as always.. I bet half the crap ppl say on this board - they wouldn't say to someones face... get real...shouldn't we all be grateful Paul McCartney is still touring? If you're so upset about Macca's set list don't go simple as that ... Paul McCartney, can and does play what he wants.. sorry, if you are so gutted by what he performs.. sad for you...be fortunate you have the $$$ to see him at all...cos he could not tour than what? also, I read, no where, where racism was interjected.. in this thread ..Without emotion or actually hearing someones voice .. things could be misinterpreted... on the net, no matter where you post... folks get tired of reading all the negativity about Paul on this board his official webby . of course people have opinions but when those negatives out weigh the positives- on a chronic basis... it becomes a drag... Now- how bout some sax for Listen To What The Man Says...

Paul has paid more-than-sufficient homage to the legacy of songs that made him a legend. And they have all been equally, sufficiently documented in concert-videos and live-albums. Count 'em. What I'm saying is that folks like me, who have made his '80s/'90s/2K albums Gold and Platinum, deserve a show for us. After nearly 25 years of "naaah-na-na-nana-nah-nahhhhhh" concert-experiences, this is not an unreasonable request.
-
Paul knows who is going to his show. While you may want to only hear Paul's solo stuff, I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of folks actually going to the concert would not. The number who would I'm guessing is an extremely small amount. Remember, when you're on this board, you're hearing a very different opinion than what the general public thinks. Most people have never gone to a Paul McCartney show, while people here have gone 5+ times.

"...only solo stuff..."? Only? I didn't say that.
-
Alright, disregard the "only" part then, the point still stands.
-
If Bruce Springsteen can build an entire tour on The Ghost Of Thom Joad, then, surely, Paul can build a tour around his solo work.
-
Man I am so excited and happy Paul has made some great additions to the setlist. Watch a video of him doing Hope Of Deliverance, he does this swaying dance and he just looks so happy. Thanks for sharing some more of your babies with us Paul and never stop rockin!

Example of how this could go poorly...I saw Rush last night as you know, the first half of the show was just songs from 1982-2007. I only knew three of the ten songs and it was weird. It sounded SUPERB but I lost a little bit of the connection because of that. Then, after their intermision they played their new album nearly in full....appox. anhour of songs nearly no one knew. The crowd was in and out of he arena, up and down, fidgetyand few sang along. Again, it sounded sesational but they pushed the audience away. I don' think it was smart t sit there and belt out 10 consecutive songs from a brand new album. Then, they ripped through four hts from the 70's and went home. My point is: you need more than "your four hits from the 70'" to entertain an arena of fans.
-
Cool! right on! have fun....
-
C'mon, dude. It's Rush. They are nowhere NEAR the level of McCartney. Still, I agree that ten brand-new songs in a row is too much.
