memphis show: love this set. i'd drop the valentine tune for something else. love the band. 5 piece that plays tightly together. no need for a horn section although it wouldn't hurt. thought they were lean and taught. very sharp. well done. he didn't introduce them though, i'm assuming he bases that on i'm paul mccartney and they're not. all you need to know.
-
The lack of band introductions always sort of bothered me. He thanks "this wonderful band of mine" at the end of every show, but he doesn't go through each of their names. However, Rusty got some "special attention" in St. Louis.
-
^that does seem weird...it wouldn't take too long to intro each of them. Funny enough, I was thinking just that on my drive to work this morning after listening to one of his most recent albums ("wonder how he introduces them at the shows?"). Answer: I guess he doesn't!
-
In 2002 not only did the band get individual intros, they also each got to speak to the audience. While McCartney calls all the shots, he does have advisors and such, and maybe it was decided introducing the band slows things up. Or that, in the end, people are coming to see Beatle Paul, and that is enough. Regardless, introducing the band is classy and selfless.

He did a sort of introduction in Orlando. Believe he called out their first and some of their last names. It was nice to see everyone get an individual applause.

On the Steve Hoffman forums someone posted that McCartney will perform ... The Mess and Big Barn Bed wednesday, supposedly the setlist for that night has leaked, we'll see?
-
I find that really, really hard to believe.

If McCartney plays THE MESS and BIG BARN BED with the full band in Tulsa tomorrow, I will buy the WOA Deluxe Edition for $138 and EAT IT!
-
-
yeah I don't see that..
-
wow i'd feel very cheated if he did those two for you guys and not for us. but, after all THE MESS the state of OK has been through with the latest batch of tornadoes i think you guys deserve a treat.
-
The new set list is ok. I would be more excited about it and the tour if Paul came to Albuquerque, but since he isn't, I have to ask myself, would I really rather hear YOUR MOTHER SHOULD KNOW than HELLO GOODBYE? For me, the answer is no. I would much rather hear HERE THERE AND EVERYWHERE than HERE TODAY, since it is a superior song. I understand McCartney is attempting to hit as many Beatle songs before he retires, which I feel will be sooner rather than later. MRS. VANDERBILT is ok, but is it better than PICASSO'S LAST WORDS? No. And why ignore hits he co wrote like SHE LOVES YOU and I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND? I suppose we will know we are close to the end of the line when he perofmrs YOU KNOW MY NAME (LOOK UP THE NUMBER) live!

If he did, that would be FANTASTIC but I'll believe it when I see/hear it...
-
That post on the Steve Hoffman forum was clearly a joke.

Lol, the Steve Hoffman forum, where everyone and his sister is "an industry insider". Plus:

*THAT* is true! I lurk on there a lot and there seems to be an "insider" popping up on every Beatles and Beatles-related thread

"Big Barn Bed" and "The Mess" would be a grand special treat for Tulsa and us all...hope that's true... 'Cause of the "19" different added songs, how bout a DVD or at least a live CD, cause this tour's a big 'un. He's all over the globe and map with this one Sort of wish he wouldn't over do it and get the new album out sooner rather than play so many big gigs, but of course the fans planning to attend wouldn't agree so can't say I begrudge it to 'em

RMartine, clearly you haven't been paying attention, McCartney has said over and over and over that he will never ever retire, he loves music way too much!
