I have just read Paul's interview on Q Magazine, and he mentions a few people told him they like "I Will", so (his words): "We've got to do it now. I've got to re-learn it". Maybe it will show up at his upcoming concerts? He mentioned that "Hope For The Future" is "my most recently flop, and I thought that would be a big hit". I guess that one will not be done live. He also said some pretty harsh words about "Bip Bop" and "Rock Show". However, he was pleased to rediscover "What's That You're Doing", and the interviewer mentions Paul playing a few bars from "Ballroom Dancing" over and over.

I was puzzled about that statement regarding 'I Will'. He played the song regularly in 2011-2012. Also, I have to clarify, it was the studio version of 'Ballroom Dancing' which was being played, as part of the 'Tug Of War'-remaster to be released late this year.

I guess you're right, the interviewer was probably talking about the remixing of the song. Here is the quote from the article: "However, after hearing McCartney deliberate over the same few bars from the song Ballroom Dancing over and over again, you realise that he can hear things you can't, and that's why he's the world's most famous pop songwriter - and you're not".

Thanks for that detailed report.

If the Thrash Mix of "Hope For The Future" had been the official single, it might've made a bit of noise. But -- who am I kidding? Until these recent collaborations, McCartney's new music was completely off of radio's radar. Had been for over two decades.

And the entire 2005 US Tour, as well.

Of course, but I meant he played it very recently, so this story is probably one of those he half made up for the sake of a nice anecdote again.

Macca also said during Live 8 interviews he was playing Sgt. Pepper for the first time since The Beatles, forgetting he did it a million times in 1989/1990 and 1193!

To be fair, when he played "Sgt. Pepper" at Live 8, it was the first time (I think?) that he played it with a proper horn arrangement like the original recording.

Very odd comments indeed... I guess that answers more about what we will NOT be hearing this year!

Didn't Macca also get it wrong when Jimmy Kimmel asked him what the very first Beatles recording was back in 2013?

I don't recall, but it wouldn't surprise me...none of them were really ever any good at their own history.

In 2005, he just kind of busked it solo acoustic, but did he do it with the whole band in 2011-12? If not, maybe he wants to flesh it out a bit more.

I think the 2011 versions were with the band. Still, instrumentation is not the reason he said he might add "I Will" to the show; some fans requested it, but he's acting as if he's received requests to perform the song for the first time ever.

He's also making it sound as if he will play songs requested by fans. Silly Love Songs??? HELLO??
-
No doubt that he eagerly obliges Beatle requests. As for the solo stuff? B-tch, please.

I don't think that's what he meant

Maybe that's why Paul McCartney keeps wearing out the same 15-20 songs tour after tour after tour... ...he keeps forgetting that he'd previously performed them. "ZING!"
-
I heard 'I Will' back in 2011 its a nice song but Paul has got so much better he can pull off, go on dig a bit deeper
