Set List critique

"I Want To Hold Your Hand" would be great! If I had to guess, I would say he will keep opening with Eight Days A Week and use Can't Buy Me Love to open the second night in cities with two consecutive concerts. I would like to be wrong, though!
-
"Another Girl" better come back...that would be a nearly complete waste...I just don't understand sometimes...

I always wondered why I Want To Hold Your Hand wasn't performed by Paul during his solo career. It'd make a great addition.. -Rubber Soul13

Maybe he's saving it to open his next tour, or the one after that? He's running out of never-performed Beatles songs after all, so he needs to use them wisely.

If hes gonna play certain songs then either play them consistently or not at all like Penny Lane, one after 909, Michelle. It can be very frustrating when Paul does this.

That would be nice. I think there's still plenty of unexplored options remaining from the Beatles catalog, but I'm just surprised that IWTHYH hasn't been performed yet. It's one of their most recognizable/popular songs. If you ask me, it could fit right into the end of the setlist alongside Yesterday, Lady Madonna, Hey Jude, etc. Or at the very least, rotated into the encores like Get Back and ISHST.

Yep, he can't handle a song like "Oh Darling" at this point so it is time to break out songs like "Rocky Racoon". - lol

I agree, wonder what makes him do certain things. Maybe it did not get enough applause for him so he decided to ditch it - lol.

Or maybe he caught someone texting in the front row during the song. Now that I've got tickets to see him next month, I'm going to try to avoid looking at his setlists. I want to be at least KIND of surprised, even though the number of surprising songs will certainly be very small.

For the LIFE of me, I will never understand keeping All Together Now in the set, but playing Another Girl just once or every once in a while.

That's what makes Paul's shows so exciting...you never really know what you're going to get!

For the LIFE of me, I will never understand keeping All Together Now in the set, but playing Another Girl just once or every once in a while.
Having seen the Osaka show (my second time seeing Macca, though my first time was in 1993 at the MCG in Melbourne and I was 12 years old, though I knew a fair bit of his stuff at the time I think I was a bit too young to fully appreciate the experience) I actually flew to Tokyo for the 2 National Stadium shows last year...but I've whinged enough about that... I reckon My Valentine (and I know it's his dedication to Nancy so I understand it being in there) is a song that can go...it's a bit of a plodder. I was surprised it was still in the set. Going against the grain here but I really enjoyed Hope For The Future. Was nice to have a surprise and though it was a bit of a grower I really love the song now. The penny dropped though, with All Together Now...even though it's a wildcard and a pretty silly/dumb song, I reckon Paul sees it as an audience interaction number...it seemed to work from where I was sitting! Here's hoping for a few more surprises as the tour rolls on.

The possibilities for the upcoming UK/EU/US tours are exciting; Penny Lane (and other surprises) in Liverpool Michelle in Paris and Marseille Can't Buy Me Love / Jet / Hope For The Future at all concerts Another Girl / One After 909 might return Who knows, there may be unexpected songs as well.

I can understand that. But I can argue, quite strongly, that Yellow Submarine would be a MUCH more crowd pleasing sing along than All Together Now. He wrote it, after all.

You're so freaking funny, I've never known such an uninspired predictable artist when it comes to set-lists and shows in the history of rock'n roll. Delusional rose tinted statement. Really.....some people.

His point was I believe that yes, although Paul tends to stick to the same set list, he has been known to throw in some surprises here and there during his shows. I have been to a few where that has happened. Your response was a bit rude IMO.

It was just the truth, Sir, not meant to be rude. His in-between song chat never changes either. A shock would be hearing that George was a great kazoo player.

I gotta side with Plastic on this. I was going to say the say thing to DrivinFans response of Paul's shows being exciting because of "never knowing what you will get". When you actually almost always know but can be surprised once in awhile. And of course just being at the show is exciting in itself.

Understood, but there is a way to say things without coming off as a bit condescending to others. That's what my main issue with the post is. As I have said many many times here before I am all for different opinions and discussions here, I just get put off when those types of posts start. Calling somebody's post a delusional rose tinted statement for their opinion is not cool.

Especially when that guy was a moderator! But yes, I pretty much know what I'm going to get at a Paul show. And I've been three times. Each one just a bit different. Starting to get tired of it, but Paul always finds a way to drag me back in
