Set List critique
-
If that's peoples attitude, then no wonder Paul plays a Beatle hits friendly set and not more obscure solo material. Who can blame him???
-
So far, I have never taken any kind of break in the middle of a McCartney show. I think if I absolutely had to, I might sacrifice "Band On The Run." The opening of that song has a way of sucking all the energy out of the room the last couple of times I've seen him.
-
"sucking all the energy out"--you mean everyone was tired of that song? How could every single person at that show, not like it?
-
I'll stand by last remark. I dare you to listen to the acoustic Born In the USA from 1995 and not cringe. Nope I don't need to here an acoustic version of Jet or Helter Skelter. And yes during the acoustic set of WOA, fans went to the bathroom. I was there; FOUR times.
-
"Richard Cory" sung by Denny Laine didn't add much, if any, to the show

Well, it's been almost forty years, you can stop worrying about it now.

I am so tired of hearing about "bathroom break" and getting a beer songs. Really, getting a beer in the middle of a concert is pretty lame IMO. Ever hear of getting a beer or two before or after the concert. Wow, can't go a couple of hours without a drink, my goodness. As for bathroom breaks, how about going before the concert starts and not drinking that much to cause you to have to go to the bathroom during the show. Sometimes mother nature calls but can't imagine all these people getting up and leaving at the same time have bathroom emergencies. As for the songs that people leave to do these things, Mr. McCartney should not worry about it and really doubt he does. As for the solo material being obscure, that is Mr. McCartney's fault. Has ever seemed excited about doing a solo song and told a story about it during the show. The only song he will do that on is "here Today" and that is because it is his tribute to Mr. Lennon.

What's up with this bathroom thing? In my day, we used to talk about the music. Is there something I've missed?

Bathroom break is basically code words for Mr. McCartney's solo music - lol

Bathroom break. A Yank tradition at concerts.

It seems as though you are just not a fan of acoustic music by anyone, which is fine, but there are many people who enjoy it. I won't argue Sprinsgteen on a Macca board, so i will just say that I think the acoustic Born In The USA is terrific, doesnt make me cringe st all, and shows the true meaning of the song's lyrics. As for Paul, people take bathroom and beer breaks during his entire show, they talk, they text, they watch tv on their cell phones during the show (I sat by a guy who did this at one show). Some people who attend concerts are there just because their significant other brought them and they don't really care about the music. Some people go because they just want to say they have seen Paul McCartney as a special event. And I would love to hear what Paul could do with an acoustic version of Jet.

I've only done it ONCE and I was about to burst! Fedex Field I knew I had to pee right around "Sing The Changes" but I thought for sure I could make it...well...the first encore kicked off with "Day Tripper"...and I had to run for it!
-
It's just paranoia. I've been to Bob Dylan concerts where nobody went to the bathroom because they were patiently waiting for songs that never came. It was in his rearrange every known song to the unrecognizable period. But people continued to come to the concerts anyway. Because it is Dylan. It's the same with McCartney ... But Dylan is less megalomaniac, he's not hooked on stadiums and #1 hits.

I guess I just found my favorite setlist...WOW !!!

I agree with you and there are plenty of people who love acoustic music. I think there is not many things better than Mr. McCartney alone on a stage with his acoustic guitar but what do I know -lol. Remember the MTV "Unplugged" shows, very popular years ago.

Yeah, that was cool! And also why they did an acoustic set in 1993. I listened to a CD I have of Paul's Las Cruces show from that year, and the crowd is very into it during the acoustic part.

I can confirm that even though there were chairs instead of GA at the 2010 Argentinian concerts, there was no people taking bathroom breaks that I know of (probably afraid of getting their seat occupied by someone else lol)

Hey, if you gotta go, you gotta go! I doubt anyone really says, "Oh, the band are picking up acoustic guitars, time to leave until they pick up electric guitars."

Lol lol, same, I got called a racist once over a sarcastic remark, which ironically enough, even after multiple explanations, only didn't translate the way it obviously was meant, to a certain crowd of people . Those rose-tinted glasses are strong sometimes. A break during a concert?!* Never did, never will. And especially not when Paul McCartney is performing right in front of you. *medical reasons aside, of course
