Set List critique

I give him credit for adding "Temporary Secretary" even if I don't care for the track...it says a lot, and I like what it says I'd move "Another Girl" out of the encore...it really doesn't belong there. Swap it with "Can't Buy Me Love"...that's encore material!
Agree totally.

Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm still gobsmacked over the fact "Temporary Secretary" was added to the setlist at the O2 at last night's show! Bearing that in mind, there's no excuse for Paul to not add other "obscure" solo songs from his catalogue. The audience reaction to "Temporary Secretary" was awesome, meaning additions like these won't ruin the show's flow in any way. Paul totally has the power to pepper the setlist with gems from his solo career. I just hope he does more of this, because Lord knows how many years he has left to do more touring!

that's absolutly my point of view too. TS is no hit song or something like that and it's from an album with a low popularity but it seems to work live (at least at the first live performance). Songs like "Dress Me Up As a Robber", "Goodnight Tonight", "Ever Present Past", "I can't bet", "Promise to you Girl", and so on could be sucessfully too.
-
I think with McCartney he can whistle a tune and hold a crowd, because he is a musical genius. Which songs he plays is perhaps less important than he thinks. I don't listen to him just because he's beatle-paul. I listen to him because HE IS MUSIC.

Amen. IMO - add songs like "Take It Away", "That Was Me", "About You", "House of Wax", the list could go on.

Exactly !!! He is giving people around 25 Beatle hits a night which is more songs than groups like the Rolling Stones do in entire show so he can throw in a few obscure ones.
-
TS is a good sign he has not given up yet!! Now, how about On The Way??
-
I also thought of "On the Way". No shortage of good guitarists in the band so it could be exciting live. I love the one-man band version on "McCartney II" but how would it sound with a full band? It is such things one wonder about when listening to his studio albums .

yes yes & yes Bring it on Paul...we can handle it!
-
I thought that there is a very basic song in the Beatles catalog, is call "Why don't we do it in the road", that no need to rehearsals, so if someone requested it with a sign, maybe during a soundcheck, would be a good chance that Paul play it.

Keep, Can't Buy Me Love where it's at; drop Temporary Secretary and put Another Girl in it's spot; put No More Lonely Nights in the encore. BAM!

I hope he does "Temporary" at Lollapalooza. All the kids wandering over from the electronic dance music stage will see just how groundbreaking that tune was/is!

The kids found the one song all the adults hate and love it! Nothing new under the... Moon.

if I could pick one for liverpool... "I will"

A McCartnry gig without jet is like a gig without Yesterday

A McCartnry gig without jet is like a gig without Yesterday
In my opinion this comparison is too asymmetrical. Jet isn't yesterday but I know what u mean! By the way Out There Tour isn't the first tour without "JET". Paul did perform "Jet" 1975/76 and since 1989 on every tour but it wasn't in the setlist 1979!!! That he dropped "Jet" was the first step into an direction with greater opportunities for other songs we all would like listen on tour. I don't have a problem if he drops "Let me roll too it" he could replace it with songs like "Getting Closer, No Values" "My Brave Face", "The World Tonight" and so on or brings "Letting go" (one of my top 3 songs) back. I'm very curious what happens in the case of the setlist after "Out there tour" is finished. It's my (little) hope that he continues to drop a bit more "core songs" and messages between the songs.

In addition "Jet" was left out of the U.S. legs of the New World Tour in '93.

Bring back let em in and chucking no words back in the mix would be a nice treat
-
I hope in some surprise song for the Liverpool gig! "Some other guy" that Paul did in 1989 durin a soundcheck in Milan would be cool!! But also "In my life" would be a good choice! I dont like the Harrison version of 74 Tour.

I've had my fill of Let Em In...heard it live in '10 + '11...the first time was exciting...but at these big stadium gigs it's kind of a boring track really. No Words would be AMAZING but.....who the heck in this band can sing THE high part? Abe? I dunno...
