Set List critique

Paul never seems to honor re-releases/remasters on stage. But if he decided to for this for whatever reason, I'd say drop "I've Got a Feeling" and do "She's a Woman" while mentioning the film.

Real Paul fans want to hear the 1972 College Tour setlist!

A "new" video of "I've Got A Feeling" is featured in the movie as well.

Good point. Interesting to see "Junior's Farm" thrown in there last night. He should just drop "Save Us" and put "Jet" in there, then rotate "Junior's Farm" and "Letting Go" on the fourth slot.

After having seen HIM last night, I have only 2 suggestions.... Don't put Queenie Eye & New back to back, the bathroom/beer runs at that time were highly noticeable. Drop FourFiveSeconds for...... anything.

Agreed and agreed. He should just do one of them from the grand in the opening piano set, and save the latter for the magic piano set. Not that it matters...once the next record is out all three tracks from "NEW" will vanish.

"Not that it matters...once the next record is out all three tracks from "NEW" will vanish." That is the thing that irritates me about Mr. McCartney. He will drop a solo song if it is not his current release but he will still play the old Beatle/Wings songs for multiple tours/years. If a solo song off "New" for example is a good song and works in setlist than keep it in the show. As for the new album, why not play those songs instead of "Benefit For Mr. Kite", "In Spite Of Danger" and "45 Seconds".

The only exception I see to this in his solo tours, has been that "Dance Tonight" stayed in the set for a long time after MAF was released. I think that was due to the song's simplistic nature and ease of enjoyment in a concert setting even if you don't know it, and the fact that MAF never got a real "tour" like most of it's predecessors did.

That's true and I guess there are the rare exception like you mentioned. I know he did "Only Mama Knows" from MAF for a bit but don't believe it was that long. Wish I was in Paris when he did "That Was Me" and "House of Wax".

"Only Mama Knows" totally rocked on the '09 tour. It was great. I remember being super pissed when I picked up GENYC and they had some chick in the front row talking over a whole chorus of the song. I never understood why he extracted "That Was Me" from the little suit that it was sandwiched in. The whole thing would've worked great in those '07 shows...as for "House of Wax"? I never cared for it...but the missed opportunity of not touring that record, was never playing "Ever Present Past". That would've gone down great live.

I am one of those who loved "House of Wax" and liked the guitar solos which would are great live, see youtube clip of Paris show. I agree, "Ever Present Past" would have been great live also. Such a shame that MAF never got the amount of songs other albums got live.

He did 5 songs live during the promo gigs though, while he was endlessly on tour around the album release of 'New' and that saw only 4 songs played live on tour. 'Chaos' had 4 as well, on tour around the release of the album.

True, but it was a different environment. Paul knew that these were small one-off shows and he wouldn't be touring and probably didn't care quite as much about pleasing the masses. If we had gotten a full fledged tour supporting the album in 2007, I suspect it would've received standard treatment.

Of course, they got 10 times less outings. Unfortunately by the time the divorce struggle was through and he started his current way of touring, it was way past album promotion.

Exactly. IMO Mr. McCartney does not worry as much about the masses in other places outside the USA.

I happen to think that one of Paul's best setlists was from Rotterdam in March, 2012.
He opened the show with Hello Goodbye with the instrumental intro, and three songs later played Venus & Mars / Rock Show / Jet...the first and only time he's done that.
The setlist included The Night Before, My Valentine (played for the first time with his band), I Will and Dance Tonight.
He also performed the pretty rare Ram On, a verse of Yellow Submarine, and the also rare The Word / All You Need Is Love medley.
I don't believe he's ever performed such a varied setlist before or since.

One of my favourite shows by him for that reason, cool you mention it! A few days later in Antwerp he swapped out 'Maybe I'm Amazed' for 'Let 'Em In' (rare that tour) and put 'Drive My Car' in the encore (!), maybe even more special. But Rotterdam was general admission standing, so much better crowd energy.

Which song will open his next tour?
My impossible dream is: "So glad to see you here".
But aslo "The world tonight" would be cool!
From the Beatles era : "She loves you" or "I wanna hold your hand".

You got a chance with the Beatle songs but it is only a fantasy to think he would do a cool song like "The World Tonight"

Hahahaha my impossible dream: Monkberry Moon Delight (yes) and Uncle Albert.
About Uncle Albert, how beautiful could be everyone yeeling with Paul ''HAAAAAAAANDS ACROSS THE WATER (WATER). HEEEEEEAAADS ACROSS THE SKY''
Oh, dreams... :((
