Does anyone else here think that "Early Days" will make the setlist? I was thinking that he added "Yellow Submarine" yesterday for Ringo's birthday and that ended up being in "On My Way To Work's" place. But hopefully "Early Days" will make it since the video came out. People love the video, the song is one of NEW's highlights, and is highly praised by the fans and press.
If the past is any clue, you'd probably hear "Early Days" in soundcheck before it's played at a concert. "On My Way To Work" and "Alligator" were both played during soundchecks in Japan in 2013, as well as South America and the U.S. this year. But we all know...anything is possible.
Yeah that's true. It's just too good, and highly praised by the fans and press of a song to be ignored. Hmmm I wonder what's going to happen...
It is a great song. Hope you get to hear it in Fargo....or L.A. or San Francisco!
I hope so!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed!! I should just bring a sign for "Early Days" so he'll read it haha I was thinking that if he doesn't do it this month, he might add if for August! I thought he was going to play "On My Way To Work" for July, then "Early Days" for August. But that is just a fan overthinking this stuff lol. Who knows lol
Don't laugh...the sign I held up at the soundcheck and concert in Albany welcomed him back, along with a request to do ...yes you guessed it..."On My Way To Work". Needless to say, I was blown away...twice in one day!!

Hmm I think I just might. I bought my posters yesterday so I'll see how I can do it.

Setlist thoughts from Pittsburgh to stir the pot Eight Days a Week was fun to hear again, but 2015 should have a new opener. Save Us was very strategically placed and got a great reaction....but I still miss Jet very sorely in that second slot. These songs seemed to get rather lackluster responses from the crowd (bear in mind, this is lackluster on a Paul McCartney scale, the screams these songs got would make a bar bands head swell in a heartbeat....) -My Valentine -I've Just Seen a Face -Lady Madonna -All Together Now -Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite! On the other hand, these songs seemed to get an exceptionally great response (not counting the HEAVY HITTERS at the end of the set/encore) -All My Lovin' -Paperback Writer -Maybe I'm Amazed -And I Love Her -Everybody Out There For my own thoughts, after seven concerts there are some songs that I'm really just over with. Lady Madonna and Eleanor Rigby are really kind of boring to me now, I can't even say I listen to them at home anymore. But more importantly, I think the end of the show needs to be jumbled up a bit. Don't get me wrong, Abbey Road Medley should definitely hold it's place. But why not slip Live and Let Die in the encore for a year or so? Shift Helter Skelter to the main set....maybe even put another "never before played" song....we get them, it just takes awhile....and like Day Tripper, they overstay their welcome sometimes.... This was a great set for the city of Pittsburgh, never before played songs all throughout the show. From the opener to the closer, it was a night of surprises for anyone that hasn't followed the shows online. A splendid time indeed!

I miss "Jet" too. Seems a lot of people do haha. Kind of weird. Most of us were wishing it away in the past. To me it always seemed essential. I'll also be completely honest when he played it during the NEW promotion I actually got excited that it could make it back to the set. I will agree. The new songs seem to get a good reaction in comparison to the songs that were NEW in the past. Being in the audience in Indy last year I would say the songs you listed as lackluster is about true. To me Your Mother Should Know - Mrs. Vandebilt ( at the time before the NEW songs were added) were the times where people got up. Blackbird, And I Love Her, Live and Let Die Yesterday and Hey Jude (of course) were the ones that everyone loved.

One of your best posts.

"These songs seemed to get rather lackluster responses from the crowd (bear in mind, this is lackluster on a Paul McCartney scale, the screams these songs got would make a bar bands head swell in a heartbeat....) -My Valentine -I've Just Seen a Face -Lady Madonna -All Together Now -Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite! " I know Mr. McCartney worries about the first time concert people seeing him but whatever made him think they would want to hear "All Together Now" or "Benefit For Mr. Kite". There are definitely other Beatle songs that are much better. I personally would love to hear "Rocky Raccoon" in the acoustic set and would have loved "Oh Darling" when his voice could have handled it. It is sweet that he wants to do "My Valentine" for his wife but he has done it a bunch already and I don't think the style of the song fits very well with the others in the set list. "Ive Just Seen A Face" is a good song and I personally like it but he has played it often and it was one of the few Beatle songs that was done in the WOA tour.

So, as I've suggested in the separate Fargo thread , wondering if Paul has ever considered playing "Mull of Kintyre" in the U.S.? Since Fargo is relatively close to the Canadian border (three hour drive from Winnipeg), I'm just speculating about the chances. I would guess there would be a fair share of Canadian fans at this show (and he did play "Mull" in Winnipeg last year). Also, as I've joked in the other thread, if he is EVER going to play Rocky Racoon, it seems his first concert in the Dakotas would be the place.

"A Hard Day's Night" would be an awesome opening song, especially with the film being currently reissued on DVD and shown at theaters.

This is what I thought too!! He should play "Early Days" before or after this song since I figured everybody in the band would be using the same instruments (Mull of Kintyre), if you know what I mean.

Paul has never really been one to honor anniversaries or remasters/re-releases etc. Of course he plugs new material, he's no dummy, but he really has missed a TON of anniversary oppourtunities in my opinion....

This is just my opinion, but hearing "Early Days" on the CD makes me cringe every time. I love the lyrics, they are beautiful, but the vocals just make me sad.
Seems no one shares your opinion. Myself included. It's been my favorite track on the album since day 1 and still is. His vocals are on point for the mood of the song.

he's not playing it live as of yet...

Opportunities for what? To make more money? Sell more records? He's Out There doing it! That's all he needs to do. He plays what he wants to play and that's all there is to it.

Ok I'll jump in. I can't really get into this song either. It just doesn't grab my attention very well. Paul's voice does sound a little worn for wear on it, which I'll admit suits the song well enough, but I can understand why some wouldn't like it.

In more recent times, has Paul ever released a music video but not played the song in concert? (With the exception to "Appreciate" since that was scheduled to be played in Japan)
-
In the ladt year or so he has done Big Barn Bed Letting Go and Appreciate at sound checks these arent the regular soundcheck songs like C Moon or Bluebird. I just dont see why he plays them if he has no intentions of adding one or two to tge set.
-
I had signs for Big Barn Bed & Alligator & Appreciate for soundcheck but he did none of them. I also yelled out Big Barn Bed to no avail.
-
I have yelled out Big Barn Bed as well. I would love to hear it live, especially if he plays it just like the original version.

We appreciate you trying, though.
