yes I approve of that post too!! yeah I paid more than my budget could hold, but I saved up just to EXPERIANCE THE MAGIC! NO ONE DOES A BETTER CONCERT THAN PAUL! EVERRRRRRRRRRR! your hearing what kind of Concert that the BEATLES would do! can I say this? PAUL IS BETTER THAN BEATLES!!!!!! PAUL WOULD LOVE TO KNOW THIS!!
be thankful Grateful, and appreciative! that you got to Hear BEATLES! and WINGS!
Sad.
What is sad, if I may ask?
It just made me a little sad. Then I had to laugh!
I hope that helps. McCartney is not going to read any of this nor listen to any complaints. I can live with that, he is doing a concert that is very much a success at all levels and more power to him. Still, there is nothing wrong with critiquing and analyzing what he plays, and wishing and hoping for more. He should be thankful that a) he still has fans who care enough to think about such things and b) he has such a vast and deep catalog of songs to choose from. I suspect he will not revisit Put It There or Big Barn Bed live. Ever. But I also am not all that interested in hearing a 75 year old man sing I Want To Hold Your Hand. I think he GETS that. I'd like to hear him sing Lonely Old People on his 2017 World Tour of South America and the USA!!

As I often read about Paul he does not like being told what to do by others, so even if somebody tried tell him that he should change the set list he ain't gonna do it. Even though I like to hear different songs by him that's what his CDs are out for. Let the man play what he wants folks! Anyways if I win the tickets to see him in LA, I'd love him all the same even if he keeps playing the same songs. I mean come on people face it one day Paul will no longer be with us so you better enjoy him now while he is here with us and go see him while you have this chance. Paul is a legend no matter what songs he plays.

I think our best chance for Paul doing deep cuts is one of those intimate things like "Unplugged" or "Chaos and Creation at Abbey Road." But still, you've got to realize that he isn't just gonna pull these old songs out of the back of his head and just play them. First, he's got to have the idea to do it (which occasionally has come from his band), then the feeling that HE would enjoy doing it, then decide if there are enough people in the audience that would WANT him to do it, then RE-learn how to play it, then come up with an arrangement that this band can play (like, would Rusty re-create David Gilmour's guitar solo in "No More Lonely Nights"? Would Wix's keyboards sound convincing enough for the horns in "Take It Away"?). Paul would want it to sound pretty darn awesome and blow everyone away; I don't think he'd be satisfied with a few hearty cheers from one little corner of the arena. Having said all that, it's definitely the acoustic guitar set where he seems to have the most leverage just kind of busking, because the focus on him becomes so intense that anything he does carries that much more weight (so to speak!), and only HE has to learn the song, not the band. I remember his obvious surprise at the roars of approval for "I Will," for one thing. But still: Beatles song, not solo. He's very cautious.

Quit complaining. He's probably only got 3 more touring years left, IMO. The setlist isn't gonna change much. Paul has every right to sing whatever the hell he wants to onstage. He just loves what he does. If you don't like the show don't pay for the tickets and set yourself up for disappointment. lol and don't complain either. He's never gonna hear you.
Wow. People who think McCartney has done great music after 1980 and would love to hear more of it are complainers- lol. I am not paying for tickets anymore because of this but I still can make comments on a discussion board, freedom of speech is a great thing - lol. BTW - Nobody has said Mr. McCartney can't sing whatever he darn pleases, some of us just wish his concerts reflected more of his entire career which did not end with Wings.

Why not try "Little Willow" for the acoustic set?

It would be brilliant, but IMHO because it's not that well-known, and in an arena setting, I am betting that people will most likely just talk through it. I mean, people talk through Blackbird and that's a Beatles song that's obviously more well-known.

That is sad. Maybe if he dedicated it to Maureen Starkey before he did it people would be more respectful.

This is a discussion board & the people are discussing the setlist. The title of this thread is setlist CRITQUE. Of course he will do what he wants. DUH. They were all just talking about the ratio of Beatles songs to the rest of Paul's career. Nothin wrong with that. I was at a show this year & loved most every minute of it. But yeah...I wish he would sing songs from his entire career. One thing has nothing to do with the other.
Clip below is as close as we will get to hear live version of "Dear Boy", awesome cover.

OMG! YES! I have a DVd of his around here somewhere...must find it. Very nice.

Just had a thought about "With A Little Luck," which is certainly a song people would recognize and react to. But just think about it. It's very focused on the keyboards. I can't picture Paul standing there on stage while Wix takes center stage with all those keyboard interludes.
-
Guys, I have NEVER thought "With A Little Luck" was a good choice for a concert performance. Yes, it was a huge hit, but ... no ... just...no.
-
I really like Linda's backing vocals on this song, so it would be missing something important for me to hear it live now.

Agreed. It would be a horrible choice, just as C-moon was a bad choice for a live song. Even though they were both hits, they are both kind of snoozers and just don't have much of a pace to it. Same with Let Em In. If Paul plays songs from his solo career, whether they are known or not, they have to have a little bit of a pace to them. To me, My Love doesn't work very well live either.

Kind of feel the same. I sometimes feel the same about "Eleanor Rigby". To me "With a Little Luck" would drag in the way one like "When I'm 64" would. If you can get that vibe.

If we want a song from London Town, may I suggest "Cafe On the Left Bank"? Would work out great! The only problem is no one in the general audience would know it. However it is upbeat and a nice little rocker. I imagine it in the beginning if the set (LTWTMS spot) or in the first encore, possible an encore opener. Only thing that could be an issue is they'd also have to use a recording of a cowbell, as for everyone will be occupied.

To me, I've Had Enough would be the best from London Town.

I don't think Eleanor Rigby drags in the way the others would. I can see When I'm 64 being a fun singalong. Get Paul on the piano and say, 'All right, I want you to sing this one with me.' It could almost take the place of All Together Now.

I like that idea....was never a fan of All Together Now being part of his set list...such a weak song...

I've Had Enough is probably the only track that would survive the setlist these days. Pretty much anything else from that album would send 'em to the concessions....and I love that album!
