Set List critique

Bruce M.:
At this point, my expectations are modest. I just want one total, complete, out-of-the-blue surprise from the post-Beatle years -- Getting Closer, Wanderlust, Run Devil Run, Friends To Go -- to give the hardcore fans a lift.
My expectations are very low so if he did what you suggested I think I would just faint- lol.

Hey, a boy can dream!
-
As Aerosmith once sang, Dream On! All joking aside, I think Paul and Co. will produce one or two surprises on the road in 2016. They are capable.

They sure will. Assuming it's a new tour. The 3 or 4 NEW songs will go. You'd expect Mr Kite, All Together Now, Hi Hi Hi, Listen To What The Man Said, a few more will go. Not unrealistic at all to expect around 10 or perhaps more new setlist additions, HOPEFULLY they aren't the recycled songs brought back in from other tours. Of course She's a Woman is always welcome. That, Junior's Farm and Letting Go.

Of those I reckon Getting Closer is the only chance - and only cos it's Wings. He could intro it this way! "Hey this is for the Wings fans!"

I see "Getting Closer" working better in the second-song slot, like "Jet" or "Junior's Farm."

Exactly. I was of the same opinion.

Normally, I would say he'd never go for "Getting Closer" because of the abnormal set of lyrics...but after "Temporary Secretary" last year...anything is possible! I think he'd probably use it as the fourth song of the set. It's a bit too obscure to go right into after opening with a standard Beatles hit, as it's likely he will...
-
"Junior's Farm" was a #1 hit, but I still consider it as obscure (and/or known) as "Getting Closer."

no more unusual lyrics than Jet.

"hitting the chisel, making a joint...radio play me a song with a point.." My favourite lyric of the song.
-
Not sure Junior's Farm ever got to number one..... but a fine song, nevertheless... I love it.

Massive hit here. Can't recall if it was number 1 here either, but it was ALL OVER the radio and rightfully so. The song always reminded me of Get Back, sort of...like a cousin of Get Back. Sally G was just as good.

Funny thing as that here in the states, it did make the top 10...but I had never heard of it until I bought Wings Greatest Hits in 1978...LOL But to be fair, Wings Greatest Hits, along with London Town and Back to the Egg were my introduction into all things Paul McCartney (Wings, Beatles and everything in between...LOL)
-
There are about fifteen Beatle songs written by or co written by Paul (From Me To You, I Want To Hold Your Hand, She Loves You) that he has yet to do in concert. From Wings and his solo career, there are probably almost as many gems he could put together. That would make a great new set list for 2016!

Always thought 'With a little luck' would be great to hear live. As for the early Beatles no's he co wrote with John, it's now or never!
