Paul & the Beatles at the Eiffel Tower in January, 1964
-
Does anybody have any evidence that Paul, along with any or all of rest of the Beatles, visited the Eiffel Tower during the groups three week gig in Paris in January of 1964? I mean not just getting their picture taken in front of the Eiffel Tower but actually riding up the elevators to the top to get a better view of the city? I know there are pictures of the group in front of the Eiffel Tower. Is there any further evidence of them actually being in the tower.

They (along with Paul's "secret" girlfriend Maggie McGivern) visited the Eiffel Tower in 1966, but did not go up in it. I doubt if the Beatles would have either in 1964 because of the fan reaction/crowds.
-
Perhaps John and Paul did on their visit there years earlier.
-
I found out Jane Asher secretly accompanied Paul and the Fabs on that first trip to Paris to play at The Olympia
I read that several different places. Perhaps it's true.

Jane went with Paul, Ringo and Mo on the Athens break in Sept 63 ...that I know cos I have a postcard Richy sent from there to his folks in Admiral Grove.

It isn't Paul and The Beatles. It's just The Beatles.

I know you were just kidding, but I think orioles6 was asking if Paul or The Beatles had been up in the Eiffel Tower.

I do think it was only John along with Paul and Maggie that time. About the OT, as someone else said, there's probably a good chance that Paul and John went up there whenn they visited in I think 1961?.

You're right--it was just John. http://sentstarr.tripod.com/beatgirls/mcgiv.html

Wow. I had never heard of her, but a quick Google search indicates they were pretty serious. She was stunning. Thank goodness for Google!

I assume you read the link I provided above? Quite a story! Love the part about how they met!

Yeah, I remembered because I had just read her story
It sure seems like they were rather serious. You know, I like that she talks overall so well of him. You have other former gilrfriends be so bitter, take Dot Rhone (?). It is interesting how she says "We spent more time with John than we did with George and Ringo - we hardly saw them at all".

In response to Beatelsfanrandy, I was asking if Paul or any of the other Beatles visited the Effel Tower in January of 1964. I didn't ask if Paul and the Beatles visited the location. Who would ask a question like that. Please reread my original question. By the way, though the Beatles were popular in January 1964 in Paris you could still go up to the box office on the day of their show at the Olympia Theater and buy a ticket. Not everybody as of yet knew about the Beatles. Though they were a British sensation, they were not yet an international sensation. It could have been possible for the group to be at the Effel Tower, or anywhere else in Paris at that time, and not be recognized for who they were.

Yeah that's true... have seen beaucoup pix of the Fabs (which included Paul as a Fab, LOL) strolling through Paris in '64 for their Olympic gigs, without being stormed and swamped by admirers, but able to move freely and pose for cute candids with the blonde French pop star Sylvie Vartan, and sitting outside a bistro drinking cokes while a smallish group of onlookers stared, etc. One photo displayed a huge banner painting of the Beatles done by a male French fan. Ironically, the French boys were much more vocal and appreciative at the gigs than the jeune filles--Ringo found that rather inexplicable, odd, but since when have the French been easily understandable (according to various things about them I've read)

Thought I'd post this pic from John and Paul's trip in 61 (yes, I know the OT was about 64):
Not famous at all then, so no reason not to go up the tower.

They most wanted to see Ringo sing 'Boys'
Possibly, the first pop gay song. The Beatles were always pushing the barriers, even in '63.
