Lewisohn's Book

I found it fascinated how many relatives were born to large families, out of wedlock, in multiple marriages, etc. You think of those times as very traditional, but so many of their (the Beatles) ancestors came from very interesting and non-traditional backgrounds.
I was also struck by how unconventional their ancestry was, especially the Harrison and Lennon families. Ringo's, too, actually. A melting pot such as Liverpool, as well as poverty, I suspect, contributed to that.
-
Yeah like George's grandparents, John & Louise French had like 12 kids and never married!

2020?!! In 2013 he said he was 40% finished! What the hell?

I have news for you, that is how everyone's family is, if you dig deep enough and far back enough!

As I posted in July of 2014: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p022hsnk 2020 was the target year. So at least he is holding that date.

Well, I guess that will give me some reading material for my retirement!

The first one or the 2nd one? Regardless, the answer is a resounding YES!

A few things I found interesting: --Vol. 2 is still slated for 2020 - the book has yet to be written but research is in full swing. --Unfortunately Mark's detail on George Martin's affair with his current wife Judy indeed has severed their relationship. Mark was initially asked to introduce George at a recent event and Mark's hesitation based on the book was indeed confirmed when Martin asked for another speaker. --Mark interviewed Neil Aspinall literally the Monday after he quit Apple (on less than good terms with Apple) on the previous Friday. He had about a good few hours (~3 sets of interviews) with him. Unfortunately he fell ill very fast and those interviews were cut short. Mark said he wished he had about 20-30 interviews with Neil to fully tell the story. Sadly that is put to rest. Some of the interviews will carry over to the next two volumes.I was at Beatleweek again this year and saw this live - quite disappointed that these books atill aren't written and we have to wait another five years for the next one. I understand they're thorough and definitive, but why release the first one when the second one isn't even written yet? Still, I'm sure it'll be worth the wait.
-
Why release the first one?! To make money man! Mark has to have an income while he finishes the 2nd (and later 3rd) book!
-
Also because some of the fans will be dead by 2020. LOL!

I know right? Vol. II not until 2020? I'll be reading Vol. III at some retirement home! Well at least he got the first one done.

Maybe he could split it into 2 or 3 more books.
