Hard to argue with that.... awesome!!!!
When he opened with it...what was it? 12 years ago? (It was 2010) He did it all wrong. You need the darkness & suspense like he had in 76. So cool!
Oobs, you're also another fave of mine....
The peak time. Wings Over America. Awesome. It don't get much better than that.
I totally agree! BEST. CONCERT. EVER. ď¸

@njr I was responding to somebody who wrote, "he opened with it, what some 12 years ago"? I was just wondering what got opened, and what is the "it" they mentioned.

@wandy You're missing some genuinely great music. Though I change my mind periodically, on most days I consider Egypt Station his best post-Beatles album.
Egypt Station is a great album... Hand in Hand... Dominoes... Do it Now... Who Cares.... Still awesome. Great McCartney tracks. Despite Repeated Warnings..... Dominoes is my FAVE.... the only song I genuinely still do not like... I hate it... Come on to Me... for me... his worse song... ever!... It makes Pretty Little Head and Indian Loup sound like masterpieces.

@toris I gave up when I heard, Fuh Me ( f**k Me) He's above that kinda song.

I wrote that & I was referring to Venus & Mars.

@bruce-m Yes, I love the intro...but then the vocal begins and his voice is hoarse. I felt immediately disappointed. I just don't listen to this one.....or Confidante. (I can listen to the live version of Confidante because Abe sings with Paul and does the vocal hefting.) Right after I Don't Know comes the embarrassing (to me) If You Come On To Me. Disliked that song from the get-go. I was of the strong opinion that the opening single should have been Who Cares/Happy With You. These two are quintessential McCartney songs sung very very well. There were songs left off the original album that should have included....and I Don't Know and Confidante left off....or added later as bonus cuts. Paul had the makings of a superb album with great vocals throughout but he went for, to me, lesser and weaker songs with iffy vocals.

@oobu24 Ah yes! "Rock Show", written especially for his world tour. He wanted a "rock out" opener to kick it off. I remember being amazed at seeing the Band On The Run album cover pic on the back projection screen. Even more amazed when it came to life!
-
@beatles4ever-1 I didn't like Driving Rain ( cd) and hated the cheapo album cover picture, photographed using the camera on his wristwatch. His album cover pics are usually pretty good. I love the Press To Play, album cover. Just him and Linda. And Back To The Egg pic. Very nice!

Yeah, and I answered you! Venus & Mars/Jet concert opening.
-
@njr Yes but 12 yrs ago? Obviously it wasn't the Wings concert from the 70s where he opened with "Rock Show".

The original title of the song was For You, but when Paul sang it, the producer said it sounded like âI just want it fuh youâ so he (unwisely) convinced Paul to call the song Fuh You. He IS NOT singing âI just want to f**k youâ - he is singing (and the printed lyrics say) âI just want it fuh youâ (for you) We have been over this 100 times on this forum when the album/song came out, before you joined us, of course.
Paul should have kept it as âFor Youâ but itâs too late now. I love the song and itâs great in concert. -

wandy, please try to read more carefully. Go back and read the posts. On page 2 five days ago oobu24 posted a video of 1976 Venus & Mars/Rock Show concert opening. During Wings Over America in 1976 he always opened with
Venus & Mars/Rock Show (sorry, he sang Jet after that)
Iâm kinda confused what this â12 years agoâ business is as well. He only sang Jet (4th song) in 2011.
Googled more and it was 2010 (13 years ago) he opened with JUST Venus & Mars.

@njr Yes each to his/her opinion, of course. I much prefer, "King of Fuh" by Brute Force. I believe George Harrison picked up on it first. He loved it too.

I edited my most recent answer to you. Please scroll down and reread. (and I KNOW it was oobu that said 12 years, not you)
At first I thought toris said it too - it is hard to follow who said what on this ânewâ forum! -
@njr Sure was. But it's darned clever and amusing. Certainly to me anyway. And definitely the Beatles would find it amusing too

@njr Your not kidding. I've never been in a forum like it. You read a comment. Hit the reply button and reply, then nobody knows what you replying to.

Oobu24 answered you an hour ago telling you she said the â12 years agoâ comment. I AM reading the comments as carefully as possible but this forum doesnât make it easy. The old forum was much clearer to follow who was saying what.
