@yankeefan2
I only wished I was at that show. I've seen Rockshow a few times and I really enjoyed all those Solo and Wings.
I saw the world premier of the Rock Show movie at the Dominion Theatre in London. Macca was there, but couldn't see him. I was in the stalls, he was in the upper balcony. The place was heaving. I darn't leave my seat in case I couldn't get back to it. -
First, Paul does worry about what the crowd reception is way too much which is why he has done a "Beatle" heavy setlist for years. Please name me one artist you have seen live that has ended show with song from their most recent album and it has not been a single. I disagree, Paul would get all these "hits" on the internet for doing those songs from "Egypt Station". You know what he got a lot of "hits" for doing, having "John Lennon" singing "I've Got a Feeling" from the rooftop concert with Paul and the band.
It would be fine IMO if Paul played those two songs, my problem is he should have a played a couple of others. We could wish all we want about more solo songs, never happened and never will which is sad. Case closed.

@yankeefan2
Hey Yankeefan... I think we both agree that Paul shouldn't be worrying about the crowd reaction to any song he chooses to play. As someone else said, He's Paul "Freaking" McCartney. He should be proud of both of the longer songs at the end of Egypt Station. They are both well written.And I think that Paul/Beatle fans not attending the shows are far more likely to watch a video on a song like Hunt Me Down/Naked etc than Beatle songs they have seen and heard many times previously. Yes, John Lennon appearing on the "I've Got A Feeling" video 0n his last tour generated tons of hits because of both the surprise factor as well as for sentimental reasons.
As you have said, we yearn for the tours after Flowers in the Dirt and Off the Ground where Paul would play 5 or 6 songs from those respective albums. He even opened the show with Figure of 8 on his "Flowers" tour. I loved that kind of courage and moxy. He should have no problem with doing a tour encore with "Hunt Me Down/Naked/C-Link". Almost all the people there appreciate Paul for who he is so he shouldn't be worrying about crowd reaction at all.
PS. You still have me laughing with Paul "playing Fuh You vs. playing Who Cares" comparison. Great one.

Howsabout he plays, Fuh You, followed by Why Don't We Do It In The Road.

We WISH the case was closed, but he who shall not be named will not let it go!

I would love to get a new album from Paul. My first choice would be an album of all new material. Second choice would be an album of older, unreleased songs that we havenât heard before. I wouldnât be that interested in an album of unreleased songs that we have heard before because I probably already have pretty much all of them.
Iâve loved all of his recent albums so I hope thereâs more to come. -
@mccall BJ Conlee
LEFTOVERS and RARITIES - 1 CD Starter Set-
My Old Friend - written by Carl Perkins during the Tug of War Sessions

A Love For You - Unreleased and originally done
during the "Ram" Sessions -

@b-j-conlee
Additional Notes on "Leftovers and Rarities"The Mess - the "Live" Version was also the B-Side to My Love single
That Was Me - of the 22 tracks, only 2 songs were on original solo/Wings Paul McCartney albums. That was Me, and House of Wax use rare "Live" versions.
On the Wings of a Nightingale - it was "released"as an Everly Brothers Song and became a Top 40 hit on the Country Charts. Paul's Demo version has never been released.
Loveliest Thing - great guitar solo by David Brown from Billy Joel's Band. Very underrated Ballad in my opinion.
House of Wax - The song was on the original Memory Almost Full album but I'm pushing for a "Live" and very "Rare" Version. One of Paul's most underrated songs in my opinion.
Turned Out - Not on Paul's original "New" Album but Paul wisely added this track on the subsequent Deluxe/Collector's Edition. Very good and Underrated song in my opinion.
Cut Me Some Slack - McCartney written song that Paul performed with the Foo Fighters. Very good rocker in my opinion.
All in all I personally hope Paul considers "Leftovers and Rarities" as a very important "addition" to his Post Beatles' Catalog. Sadly, I agree with Yankeefan, Nancy and others on this Board that this album/CD won't happen in Paul's Lifetime. Unfortunately, I believe Paul (from looking at his recent Set Lists) is too focused on being "Beatle Paul" rather than his highly underrated "Solo" Career.

@b-j-conlee
I realize that many of these 22 tracks are probably available on various bootlegs on the market. I would buy this type of "Official Paul MccCartney Release" for 2 main reasons:-
I would want the best "sound quality" possible.
-
It would be great to have all 22 tracks on one CD.
As I've said, if this "Starter Set" was successful, Paul could easily have a "follow up" 1, 2, or even 3 CD Package of rare songs for a future release. He has that many hidden gems that should be heard! I'm talking about songs not on "original" Paul albums, rare "live" versions, other rare Paul Soundtrack songs etc. etc.

@b-j-conlee
Thinking about rare "Live" versions, Paul and his Bands did a few live "special" shows in the 90's.
They were:-
The "Up Close" Show at the Ed Sullivan Theater in NYC. It was a fab concert with Paul introducing great songs from his upcoming "Off the Ground". His voice was spectacular and with his full Band (including Hamish Stuart with his great Back-up singing and Robbie McIntoch's superb guitar work and Linda). The OTG songs sounded way better, in my opinion, than the Album versions
-
Live at the Cavern Club with Paul's Run Devil Run Band. Man was Paul's great Rock and Roll Voice spectacular that night and to see that Band in action including the great David Gilmour on lead guitar was awesome.
-
Special PITA End of the Century Show in Los Angeles - Again the Run Devil Run Songs sounded even better "Live"
Those are some of the "Rare Live" Tracks I would love on a Special CD.

@b-j-conlee
Just noticed that my #3 Concert above should be spelled PETA. I guess I might have been getting hungry and thinking about Pita bread.It also got me thinking that Paul should be "selling" concerts like "Live at the Cavern Club" or the "Close-Up Show" to the big streamers like Netflix, Hulu, Prime, Disney etc.
-
@b-j-conlee
Speaking of "Live" shows I wonder why there not more older Paul McCartney Concerts on Netflix, Disney Plus, Hulu, Prime etc. I'v noticed far more other music artists having "Specials" on these huge "Streaming" Platforms.This brings me back to the "Live At The Cavern Club" DVD that Paul released a few years ago. I would love to see this concert shown on one of the big platforms. I would think that any one of these channels would be interested but Paul/MPL has to make the 1st move. This was originally done in 1999 when Paul still had his great voice. I also wonder if Paul would hesitate to push a "Live at the Cavern Club" idea because Paul was using a different Band at the time rather than his long time current Band.
I believe most of Paul's Run Devil Run Band members are still alive and it would be a great tribute to them as well. -

@njr
Nancy... I'm taking that as a complement. I think Yankeefan has basically said I should be his Marketing Manager. I love "Live at the Cavern Club". Oh, but you can't revisit that. It doesn't include Paul singing a whole bunch of Beatle songs.
Sorry, I'm being a tad sarcastic. Paul always wants to be Beatle Paul instead of highlighting his fantastic "Solo" Career. -
@b-j-conlee
Speaking of Marketing, Paul should "Release" a DVD of the "Up Close" at the Ed Sullivan Theater (circa 1991 or 1992). In case I'm wrong, I don't think he has a DVD of this great Concert. It needs a DVD for these reasons:- It has great "Live" versions on many "Off the Ground" tracks that are significantly better than the studio takes.
- It also has some good versions of classic Beatle songs
Track List includes:
Hope of Deliverance
I Owe It All To You
Off the Ground (the song)
Peace in the Neighborhood
C'Mon People
Get Out of My WayBeatle Tracks:
Fixing a Hole
Michelle
Can't Buy Me Love (rare Bluegrass version)
Penny Lane
Sergeant Pepper
(Among others)As I have said, the "Live" OTG songs were much better than what you hear on the Original Off the Ground Album. For this reason alone, Paul needs a DVD of this fabulous concert.
PS It would have to be cleaned up and edited. He would have to take out a couple pieces like when the "Make Up Artist" interrupted the show. Concentrate on the songs as Paul's vocals were terrific!
