but if we were to get into a time machine back to that very day you mention, our real selves would have already been born and exist at much younger ages.. you'd be about 5-6, and I'd only be 9 months old... so when doing time travel, our current selves would have to merge as the child and baby we were then, as we actually existed in that time, right? It's complicated I know... (insert cross-eyed emoticon here!) but makes me think we probably couldn't go back to that time as the same age the Beatles were then.. unfortunately!Maybe if we showed up in 1961 on the Cavern's doorstep as orphan children--after arriving in a time machine-- Auntie Jin or Aunt Mimi would adopt us so we could at least be adopted cousins of the Beatles growing up... not the best scenario we'd like, but better than nothing
I was 6 then in 1961. I know if we went back weβd have to look just like we do now, but my FANTASY would also to be able to somehow look 18 again! In supposed time travel our younger selves would be living in Ohio and wherever you were born. Our time travel selves would be over 4000 miles away in Liverpool!
Are you suggesting we kidnap ourselves as kids (1961) and take us to Liverpool?
Nope, I want to be 18 and meet Paul in 1961 and kick Dot Rhone to the curb (or kerb as they spell it!) -
@njr
Reminds me of that movie Peggy Sue Got Married with Kathleen Turner... she goes back in time to 1960 and discovers she's 18 again and when she's running up the stairs to her old bedroom she says something like, "I can live my life over again! I can be anything I want, go anywhere I want! and (knuckles to mouth) I can go to Liverpool and discover the Beatles!!"

The Beatles at the Reed Pigman Ranch in Alton, Missouri, September 19-20, 1964. Reed Pigman was an airline magnate who provided the chartered plane(s) for the Beatles during their 1964 US Tour.
Felt sorry for poor Ringo on seeing this... they put him in a weird place in this photo, under Paul's leg... and made Paul sit on the fence in a half lotus position! Looks like Paul is wearing moccasins

@ladyleslie And George, sandals with socks! My dad used to do that, but it was even worse because would wear shorts!

August 3: On this day in 1963, The Beatles played their last show at The Cavern.
That they took this gig at all speaks well to their loyalty and awareness of how they got where they were. The date saw them poised on the ascent to mega-stardom: βShe Loves You,β soon to be Britainβs top-selling single for the next fifteen years, was in the can and awaiting release, while Please Please Me was firmly entrenched atop the countryβs album charts.
Their booking, for which they were paid Β£300, sold out within thirty minutes. Per Brian Epsteinβs orders, sales were limited to 500 out of concerns for crowd safety. They were the top of a bill that included several other Merseyside acts, including Faronβs Flamingos, but everyone knew who the draw was.
For his part, John Lennon was anxious to be done with the chore, feeling the primitive conditions were beneath them. The power actually went out during their set (not an uncommon occurrence, said to have been caused by a short circuit stemming from sweat and moisture permeating the club), during which time they kept the fans entertained by performing an acoustic version of
. Pepperβs βWhen Iβm 64β - for real.Posted at the top is a song undoubtedly part of the set performed that night: βPlease Mr. Postman.β As yet uncaptured by Parlophone, this is their BBC recording, taped three days earlier for Pop Go The Beatles!

P.S. Had to cancel double post!! This site is SO FRUSTRATING!!
Also, I thought Paul had only written the tune of βWhen Iβm 64β when he was 15 or 16 and didnβt write lyrics until after his dad had turned 64 July 7, 1966! Were they just doing an instrumental? -

Beatles quilt on the wall of my guest bedroom:
-
I remember seeing this quilt at your house, Nancy, when I visited you and your Mom! Did you have it specially made, or did you order it somewhere special?
