New Paul Compilation for 2024
-
Top 5 Reasons Paul needs a new Compilation in 2024:
-
Paul's last official Compilation called "Pure McCartney" was 6/10/2016. By June of 2024 the Pure McCartney Package will be 8 Years old already.
-
Many good/great songs are not represented on the "Pure McCartney" Compilation. Many of Paul's hits and well known tracks are on this Compilation but just as many great Songs (especially Deeper Album tracks) are Not.
-
Many of Paul's Solo and official Albums are hardly represented on "Pure McCartney." To give you an idea, here is the breakdown:
Flowers in the Dirt- No Tracks on Pure McCartney
Run Devil Run - No Tracks
Driving Rain - No Tracks
Egypt Station - Obviously, No Tracks
McCartney 3 - Obviously, No Tracks
Wildlife - Only "Bip Bop" is represented.
Red Rose Speedway - Only 2 songs (My Love, and
Big Barn Red) Appear
Off the Ground - Only 1 Song (Winedark Open Sea)
Appears
Press to Play - Only 2 Tracks (Press and Good Times
Coming) Appear
Broad Street Soundtrack - Only 1 Song (No More
Lonely Nights) Appears
Memory Almost Full - Only 2 Tracks (Dance
Tonight, Only Mama Knows) Appears
Kisses on the Bottom - Only 1 Track (My Valentine)
Appears
Electric Arguments - Only 1 Track (Sing the
Changes) Appears
Venus and Mars - Only 2 Songs (Listen to What the
Man Said, Venus and Mars/Rock Show)
Appear
Back to the Egg - Only 2 Songs (Arrow Through Me,
Baby's Request) Appear
Pipes of Peace - Only 2 Songs (Say Say Say, Pipes of
Peace) Appear
- Even some of the Albums above don't have the Best Songs on Pure McCartney.
-
As Said, many great Paul songs are Not on Pure McCartey
-
No Rare "Live" Performances, great B-Sides, or great and Rare Soundtrack Cuts are Included on Pure McCartney.
From 1970 to Today (Over 50 Years!) Sir Paul has only released 4 Compilation Album/CD Packages. It's time for Paul and MPL to Release an Up-To-Date and Full Career Spanning Compilation.
Paul has written so many great Solo Songs in his long career after he left the Beatles. In my opinion, he was much more than Beatle Paul. He deserves this addition in 2024.
I envision a 3 CD Standard Package for starters and possibly a 4CD Deluxe Edition over the next couple of years.
I will list my track by track song choices over the next several days. My "working" title for this proposed new package is:
"Paul McCartney Post Beatles' Classics and Hidden Gems"

@njr
Not beating a dead horse Nancy. This is a different topic I started. What your referring to is the "Flip Sides or Leftovers" topic that I admittedly kept going for too long on this Board. Instead of proposing an "Unreleased and Rare" type album here I'm suggesting that Paul should start thinking about a new Compilation project. As I have pointed out above, his current Compilations (all 4 of them) are old and not current to Paul's existing Discography in 2023. His last Compilation in 2016 was poorly done in my opinion. It had way too much duplication to his previous 3 Compilations. Many of the same songs and same exact versions was its downfall.My attempt here is to show how a 2024 Compilation should be done.
-
@b-j-conlee
My mistake above. I should have said that the "Pure McCartney" CD from 2016 did not include any rare "Live" tracks or very few Paul songs that appear on Soundtrack albums. I think my mistake was on Point 5 immediately above. Thanks -
@b-j-conlee Don't know if Boardies have noticed that in my recommended tracks on Disc 1 above I have intentionally included tracks that are not on Pure McCartney (4 CD Deluxe Package). On a few tracks that use the same song (i.e Maybe I'm Amazed or Every Night) I'm strongly suggesting using a different "Live" version. That was one of the mistakes that Paul/MPL made when they released Pure McCartney. As I said, same song and same version that was used on "All The Best" and "Wingspan" and his 2 other earlier Compilations.

Use the Live Version from the Glasgow Soundcheck if it's as good as the Studio Version. - Find My Way. - From McCartney 3 Album

-
@b-j-conlee Why are you singling me out? oobu agrees with me.
As do others who shall remain nameless. I’m sorry BJ, but regardless of the content of these albums that you come up with, you aren’t going to find anybody all excited about it. I’ll leave you alone now and skip over this thread. -
@njr
I don't care if you and possibly others don't care about my new thread about Paul's previous Compilations. That's your prerogative and it's my right to bring up a point that I think Paul/MPL needs a new a new Compilation for at least the 2nd Half of 2024. If some on this Board are perfectly satisfied with Paul's last Compilation, that is Ok. If just a few here agree with me I will be totally satisfied. At least when I give an opinion I come up with alternative options. That's the point of my Lists for a new and updated Compilation in 2024. -
@b-j-conlee

This would be my Last Disc on the Standard Edition of Classics and Hidden Gems (3 CD Set). Again this updated CD Package/Compilation does not duplicate any of the Tracks on Paul's last Compilation from June 2016 called "Pure McCartney".
Discs 1 and 2 are earlier in this same Topic/Post. Now
Now onto the "Deluxe Edition" of my Proposed Package for "Classics and Hidden Gems"
The Deluxe Edition will be a 4 Cd Set -
@b-j-conlee Well, "Bip Bop" should have never seen the light of day in the first place, let alone be on "Pure McCartney"! IMO "Pure McCartney" was 8 years ago??? Seems like it was just two or three years ago... or thereabouts!!! But, I agree that he has many songs that have not been properly released and should be. How does he keep track??

I will try and be brief. On this board it has been discussed/mentioned a bunch how poorly "Pure McCartney" was done with the omission of songs on certain albums and song selections. Due to how poorly this compilation sold (60,000) I don't think this type of project is high on MPL priority list. To be completely honest, I don't want to see another compilation done because I believe MPL would once again due a terrible job on it. Finally, like "Pure McCartney", I would not buy a new compilation because I have all these songs already.
-
@b-j-conlee
Just want to clarify on Disc 4 immediately above:#17. I'm Carrying is a great Deep Cut from London Town
#19. Hand In Hand is another great deep cut from Egypt Station -
@yankeefan2
I agree 100% on your analysis of Pure McCartney.
