@yankeefan2 Yeah!!

@yankeefan2 I would never have chosen "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth" as the No. 3 song, For me, it perhaps might possibly rank in George's top 10, but there's a good chance it would rank lower than that for him. "Pure Smokey" that high? "No. Isn't It A Pity"...Yes! That being the case for me, I don't need to read the entire Rolling Stone list of the top 100 songs it thinks are the best by the solo Beatles. I won't be in agreement. And "Mind Games" ranking at No 5....that high for John? No way. And the list goes on. It's great that everyone gets to have their own opinions!!!!

I could make many suggestions to the songs selected and the rankings. I posted this mainly because I was pleasantly surprised a Paul song was #1 and not a John song. For many years, people ranted that Rolling Stone magazine hated Paul and was over the top with favoritism of John. I don't think that is true now because most Paul albums the last 20-25 years have met with critical acclaim by Rolling Stone critics. I think "Maybe I'm Amazed" is a deserving and correct #1 song. To be honest I thought they were going to select something like "Imagine" as #1.

But how is “Imagine” #9 and “God” is #2?! SMH

Beats me. There are too many SMH rankings IMO to list and that is definitely one of them. I was just happy about "Maybe I'm Amazed" being #1 and a bunch of fairly recent Paul songs making the top 100.

That's actually one I agree with. As iconic as "Imagine" is, "God" is the sort of utter freaking genius that only John Lennon could do, at once ferocious and tender, biting and nostalgic.
Lists like this are always subjective, because we all react to music differently. The author is dismissive of George's ''33 and 1/3" and only includes "Pure Smokey." Personally, I'd put "Crackerbox Palace" and "This Song" on any best-of list. And the Ringo selections are just odd. "Lipstick Traces" and not "Don't Go Where the Road Don't Go" or "La De Da"? Seriously??? He also misses lots of Paul's best later stuff.
That said, this list is much less cringe-inducing than many like this.

@beatles4ever-1 Yeah, that was a bit of a surprise for the reason you mentioned.....selecting a Paul song for the top spot rather than John's, which I would have expected.
