"The Beatles were the biggest b**tard on Earth."
I love that quote!!!
That's probably one of the silliest self depricating statements John ever made...if it's true. I can think of a lot of people throughout history who more closely fit that term, than John or The Beatles.
You're missing the point here, John said it along the lines something like this: "To make it in this life, you have to be a b**tard and THE BEATLES were the biggest b**tard on earth!" I don't think that John meant that THE BEATLES were actual b**tard, he meant that professionally THE BEATLES were the greatest act on earth! That's my opinion.
He's saying that successful people step on and hurt people on their way up, and that The Beatles did that more than anyone. Look at how nasty the break-up was, when they even did it to each other. When Lennon did that interview in Rolling Stone, he was really angry and totally trashed the Beatles, collectively and individually. Especially Paul.

That is a very good point beatlesfanrandy!

^^ Paul sued John, George, Ringo, Allen Klein and Apple and who else? I don't know, but when you get attorneys into the scene people get ripped off, hurt and usually things end on a bad note. The attorneys get all the money. I would be pissed off if my best friend sued me too. John had a right to be mad and hurt.

Allen Klein, that SOB, he screwed all four Beatles!
-
^^ Yes. A lot of people used and abused all four of them. None of them were to blame.

Paul was told by Lee Eastman than he couldn't sue Klein, he had to sue the other 3 in order to dissolve "The Beatles." As far as I know, he never sued Apple or anyone else. As it turned out, and even John admitted this, Paul was right about Klein and he did the correct thing to save their butts financially. If John hadn't been on so much heroin at the time, he might have realized it sooner.

Here is an article of the analysis of the lawsuits: http://abbeyrd.best.vwh.net/paullawsuit.html Article on Klein and what John thought of him eventually: http://ultimateclassicrock.com/beatles-hire-allen-klein/ John did heroin and whatever else. And Paul was stoned on marijuana, hash, alcohol and whatever. They all did drugs.

I know that, but the heroin affected John very adversely! I really think if he hadn't been on it, he would have taken Paul's ideas more into consideration. Remember how it used to be, all 4 had to agree or whatever it was, was dropped? John threw that right out the window and basically told Paul to f&%k himself! Thanks for the links.

^^ True. You're welcome. ??

"Our society is run by insane people for insane objectives. I think we're being run by maniacs for maniacal ends and I think I'm liable to be put away as insane for expressing that. That's what's insane about it." - John Lennon

Exactly!!! John was one of the greatest of God's (Love's) prophets who ever lived. You brought my attention back to the Instant Karma link I had posted above. I like the viewer comment below the video from one week ago... "For younger people, blast this song as loud as you can and also try to understand the words" John's Truth saturated influence on the human race has only begun!
hey_kittay:
^^ Amen Brother Steve.? That song means even more to me today than it ever did. "what on earth are you thinking of, laughing in the face of love?" An amazing song and unforgettable man/ soul.??
Nancy R:
Instant Karma is my favorite John solo song!
Throughout human history, Life's love and peace prophets are sent to us by God to give us an opportunity to save our souls by saving each other from the "world". And, here we are, way down the road. How many more chances do you think that God will give us?

Paul saved the Beatles from financial ruin. Who knows what would have become of the Beatles' fortune if Klein was left alone in the 70s & made deals with the Beatle's name. . Klein eventually got busted for fraud and spent time in jail in the mid 70s. Even Mick Jagger warned Lennon of Klein back in '69, but Paul was the only one seeing clearly.

I love all of your comments on the lawsuits, The Beatles' breakup is like a painful divorce! Didn't someone say that? Oh yes, it was John!

"Produce your own dream. If you want to save Peru, go save Peru. It's quite possible to do anything, but not if you put it on the leaders and the parking meters. Don't expect Carter or Reagan or John Lennon or Yoko Ono or Bob Dylan or Jesus Christ to come and do it for you. You have to do it yourself."
-
"Right then Brian, manage us. Now where's the contract, I'll sign it." "He was the guy, when I was having trouble with 'Kansas City'--it didn't come off on the first rehearsal--who said, 'Come on man, you can do it better than this, get up there!' " "I started the band. I disbanded it. It's as simple as that."

"When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down 'happy'. They told me I didn't understand the assignment, and I told them they didn't understand life." "I believe in God, but not as one thing, not as an old man in the sky. I believe that what people call God is something in all of us. I believe that what Jesus and Mohammed and Buddha and all the rest said was right. It's just that the translations have gone wrong."

Many of these Lennon quotes show he had a great deal of both wisdom and common sense. And remind us we lost so much when he was lost to senseless gunfire from a homicidal madman Today is International Peace Day, btw. So can we give it a chance? Every day.

"All we are saying, is give peace a chance!"
