Have to agree with moptops. Laine was ordinary at best and has declined mightily from there. Check out his recent gigs on You Tube. He can't hold a bucket, let alone a tune. Woeful plinky plunky guitar noodling. All his solo offerings were awful (Heartbeat, Moondreams, Say You Don't Mind, Holly Days, Ahh Laine et al). Abysmal. The only thing he was able to offer Wings was his backing vocals. Somehow his own whiny vocalising meshed well with Linda's and helped give us that trademark Wings sound. On a scale of 1 to 10, better get a bucket!

Denny Laine is pedestrian garbage. He got REAL lucky.
I can imagine him walking through the streets of Shoreditch on a sunny Sunday morning!

Surprised Australia even exists on MPL's "world" map! :
Well, "Austria" is listed as one of the countries he's played so maybe the map is an attempt at a joke by some MPL pleb! And when was the photo taken? 1969??!! Oh no wait, a crazy little thing called Photoshop!

RE: Paul, Come To Australia
A very reliable source informed me a little while ago that several Australian dates and one in Auckland had been set for March next year. That source came back to me last week and advised the dates had been scrubbed. No reason for the cancellation was given. Apparently, further negotiations are taking place.

RE: Paul, Come To Australia
Anyone know why he has pulled out of Australia and New Zealand dates set for March next year? What a frustrating man he must be to deal with.

Let's not forget that Paul was credited with 3 top 40 songs in 2015. Paul hasn't done that since 1982. The bottom line is Paul's collaboration with Kanye has been a success.
...and a stretch.
Indeed. Clutching at straws. Riding on coattails. Basking in someone else's glory. Take your pick.

He's not taking a year off. He's in the autumn of his life. He wants to make every minute count.
Or, to quote George, the winter of our discontent!

I would RATHER have a Adam West and Paul LP
I'd rather have a Mae West and Paul LP!!
Ah, in the words of the great Frankie Howerd, "titter ye not" for there WAS an LP of Beatles songs recorded by Mae West...

Will not playing MOK in the USA hurt his legacy?
Legacy.........I'm not half the man I used to be..............

RE: What if There Had Been No "Wings" Band?
moptops:
Linda's biggest contribution is not musical, it's family. She was a magnificent rock for Paul and a loving mum, who in spite of being married to a Beatle, was determined to raise her kids and be a partner to her husband as solidly and normally as possible and she did that. Regarding Wings: although she was no singer, her backing vocals largely along with the hapless Denny Laine became the signature sound of Wings. The Wings sound really began at Red Rose Speedway and with every album onwards, she and Laine proved more than adept at stylised vocalising.
Linda and the Rat. Now there's a title!

I have seen 7 Out There concerts over the 2 years. Enjoyed them all. As I did the On The Run shows, Up and Coming shows, and shows before those, back to the 70's. I will see more concerts. I like the Beatles. I like Wings and I like his solo music. I don't particularly care for the man himself. I don't like him very much. I don't care about his clothes, hair, what colour jacket he wears, meat free Monday, vegetarianism, revisionism, Stella's designs or Jim Bob's music, nor the gushing wannabes who get called on stage, the dumb signs, and the general thumbs upping, I CAN HOWEVER APPRECIATE THE MUSIC AND SONGS...and his unsurpassed legacy. And I consider myself blessed to be born in the Beatles era. So I call myself an avid fan regardless of what a few of you think; and I'm going to call it as I see it as long as this remains a discussion board and my arse points to the ground. Until the board rules state this forum is strictly for blind sycophancy and cloying unbridled Paulie worship... You're stuck with me.
Why would you possibly spend all that dough on a man you don't like? :
Well he says so in capital letters in his post. He can see past the person and appreciate the music. It's not hard. And the fact he can shows how great a fan he is. Also, there's a difference between a fan and a fanboy. Too many of the latter around here.

This site really ticks me off; if you don't like a certain song just say that; calling music that other people love "horrible" is an insult.
This is the truth. Sadly, most people try to present their opinion as from "on high" - they think the more high-handed and insulting they can be, the more weight their opinions carry. It's a very infectious disease and the anonymity of the internet wholly encourages it. Personally I don't see how Average Person is any worse than quite a few of the songs on the over-hyped Tug of War - Get It, Dress Me Up As a Robber, What's That You're Doing, even Ballroom Dancing. The only objective standards in music lie in the playing and production - when it comes to songs, music is subjective. One man's trash is another man's treasure.
Which is exactly why anyone has the right to refer to music as "trash" if they so believe it to be. Get over yourselves.
Yawn. :

RE: Ron Howard Directing Beatles documentary
moptops:
Fair points. But I'd have expected some teasers, updates, or leaks along the way. I suppose I'm not overly enthused owing to the content. We know the best footage. The bad stuff is really bad and it's reasonable to assume nothing Earth shattering has come to light. I hope for the best.
It'll be twenty second snippets of various live footage with a bunch of talking heads bleating on about how they changed their lives. Standard documentary fare. At best, they might put out a complete concert (Shea probably) as a bonus on the physical release.

The only thing more pathetic than fans who hang around message boards finding nothing to criticize about their favorite artists are "fans" who sit around message boards with nothing but complaints. It's time for a few people on here to move on with their lives. You are no longer fans of Paul. We get it. Move along and find something productive to with your time.
No, you're wrong. The most pathetic thing around here is people complaining about people complaining. Last time I checked this isn't a "fun" board, it's a message board. There's a difference. It's up to Paul and his moderators to decide to no longer allow posts with dissenting views to the "we love Paulie" sentiment. Until then, how about you refrain from posting such requests of other members when it clearly is not within your remit to do so?

Good riddance "Out There" tour. I give it the BIG KISS OFF!!!
It doesn't matter what name he calls his tour (Good Evening, Up and Coming, On The Run, Out There, Out House....). They're all the same thing, an expensive Beatles karaoke night. The only difference in the tours is the singer gets progressively huskier! By the time his 2018 Out of Ideas tour rolls around to the same old places he'll be sounding like Tom Waits chewing water crackers in a cheese grater factory!
