RE: Paul, Come To Australia
I was in the city today so I went and had a look at AAMI Park since I'd never actually been there before. I could see most of the ground through a window and I reckon it will be a pretty good venue for a show. It's outdoors but not too big and even the really cheap seats should still get a reasonably good view.

Tthat's a shot from Tokyo 2013. The stage may be high but the gap between front row and stage is so large that I wouldn't be worried about craning your neck, especially from row E.
Are the venues all indoors? Here is a photo I found from Minneapolis last year, which was indoors. Assuming no major changes are made to the stage this year, should be pretty much the same for all indoor shows.
Can't view the photo, unfortunately. I follow the link and it just says 'We'll be back shortly.' However, I don't think they're all indoors. I wouldn't call AAMI Park indoors though it may have a roof, I don't know. A funny aside - I googled AAMI Park when the rumours started and that's apparently not its real name. It's "officially" called 'Melbourne Rectangular Stadium'. Catchy.

I wonder, how high are the stages normally? Still not sure if I should have got Row E versus Row K, but I was worried E might be too close if the stage is high i.e. looking up a lot the whole time. The angle of K would be less. This is for Brisbane (Suncorp Stadium). Interested to hear any peoples thoughts.

Unless they've changed it, but a couple of days ago it was up on slotix.com - find the Paul McCartney page, and scroll through the dates. A friend showed it to me, and when I checked, sure enough there it was!
They don't appear to be there now, I'm afraid. But if they were there once that means they've got them planned and I think it's more than likely that enough tickets will sell to warrant the second shows. I'd like to go to the second show but get a nosebleed seat. That way I'll catch setlist differences (I've not been able to decide whether I'd rather see Hi Hi Hi or I Saw Her Standing There) and I may be able to see more of Live and Let Die.

I can only hope there will be a show 2.
He almost let slip that there would be in the Tim Minchin interview. He started with 'There's a thing I do with my promoter where we release the first show and then if they phone me and say "Hey, it sold out in 24 hours!"' and then you see him stumble a bit as he realises he's about to give the game away so he changes it to the story about him not being sure he's still got it. I mean, to be fair, we all know he releases a first night and then does a second if the first one sells well.

"Don`t be on the ticket buying website too soon - coz the #%^@ timer will start and you`ll get booted!!"
That's exactly what I did. I loaded up the page in two browsers as one sometimes carks it and I wanted to have a backup in the minutes before 5PM. Now, normally when buying tickets on these kinds of websites, each time you advance a step in the booking process, it adds a couple of minutes to the timer. Nope. It was a mad dash when I got to the credit card screen only to realise that I had 60 seconds to go and my wallet was in my bag in the other room. A scramble ensued and I managed to type in all the data with my hands shaking and my dog looking at me like I was mental.

I got A4 row K - I did get E up but thought 5 rows back might be too close to the stage looking up and also the angle across to Paul. Row K is probably far enough back (11 rows) so I won't have to look up so much but still pretty close... what do people think?
I'm not sure it will be that close. Remember that the stage is further away from the first row now than it used to be. When getting my tickets, I had the choice between Row C, Seat 20 and Row D, Seat 17. I probably made the right choice but there's nothing I can do about it now.

Even though it said side sections on the website - I was totally wrong about my section guesses - I'm in A3 as well (but my email says SA3 - anybody else got that on theirs?)
Not bad. If you don't mind my asking, what seat number are you in? If you are on the sides, it might give us a better idea of how wide that section actually is.
I don't want my ticket number on the net for months before the concert, just in case of hackers or whatever (you never know in this day and age!), but I have PMed it to you if it helps you to work out that section and where exactly we will all be seated. I'm not that far from you!
Perfectly fair. I guess we won't really know exactly where we all are until we arrive at the stadium.

Yeah that's with the hot sound package. Dead broke now but so so happy!
Money comes and goes, but Paul McCartney concerts are once in a lifetime experiences!
Pretty much sums it all up, really.

RE: Paul, Come To Australia
Yep. I got A3 Row C Seat 20. Not too shabby, I think! I wish I knew whereabouts seat 20 was, though. What seat number are you, Casp? The only thing is it's listed as Section A3-1 which I'm assuming is rows C, D and E or something reserved for VIP.

toneforchris:
VIP reserved tickets aren't always the best seats (from my limited experience with Rolling Stones packages and similar sized shows), so unless you're getting the top tier packages (ie Second Row Hot Seat Package or better) i'd imagine the seats would be decent but not guaranteed to be fantastic.
Yeah, I'm going to be getting Hot Sound so that should be fairly decent, I'd think. The other Hot Seats don't really seem worth it. An extra $400 for a ticket and a lanyard is a bit much, really.

Anyone have advice re how many rows back is best to avoid the stage being there and having to look up constantly yet be still quite close? Maybe 8 rows back or less?
That's a point. I hadn't thought about that. Also, you don't miss the spectacle of Live and Let Die by being really close, do you?

RE: Paul announces he will do a "New" Song
Jock Tamson:
Different days I know, but the final encore for the Wings Over America tour was a new song. On the 1979 UK tour he played Coming Up which wasn't released till the following year (and went to number 1 in the US). Oh for the bravery of those days!
I think it's fairly smart to wait until release to play songs at shows - not counting promo shows like iHeart Radio Festival, Jimmy Whoeveritisthistime etc. If you're at a gig and he plays a new song, you might turn to your mate on the way out and say 'Man, that new song was actually really great. I'm going to grab the album.' and then you can get it from the merch stand. If it's not out yet you might forget by then or go off the idea. Play to the impulse buying market.

RE: Paul, Come To Australia
Yeah, thanks for the encouragement everyone. I've decided I'll regret not doing it far more than not. Though I kinda wish I hadn't given out as much advice now. I've gone and created competition for myself

RE: Melbourne, Australia, AAMI Park, December 05+06: CONFIRMED
briar:
Going by the Ticketek website, the VIP tickets will be available during both the Paul Mc and Frontier pre-sales. It references two ticket maxes for each pre-sale. Thank goodness, I didn't want to have to buy a diamond ticket tomorrow and wait for the VIPs to be released.
Do we buy the VIP packages through SloTix or whatever? If you select your venue and then "see ticket prices" or whatever it is, it only comes up with the regular tickets Bronze-Diamond.
