Beats me. There are too many SMH rankings IMO to list and that is definitely one of them. I was just happy about "Maybe I'm Amazed" being #1 and a bunch of fairly recent Paul songs making the top 100.

RE: The 100 Best Beatle Solo Songs
I could make many suggestions to the songs selected and the rankings. I posted this mainly because I was pleasantly surprised a Paul song was #1 and not a John song. For many years, people ranted that Rolling Stone magazine hated Paul and was over the top with favoritism of John. I don't think that is true now because most Paul albums the last 20-25 years have met with critical acclaim by Rolling Stone critics. I think "Maybe I'm Amazed" is a deserving and correct #1 song. To be honest I thought they were going to select something like "Imagine" as #1.

RE: Taking a Closer Look at Paul McCartney’s Sneaky Great Late-Period Album ‘Chaos and Creation in the Backyard’
I loved "Summer of 59" also which was the B side to "Jenny Wren".

RE: Taking a Closer Look at Paul McCartney’s Sneaky Great Late-Period Album ‘Chaos and Creation in the Backyard’
Actually, I think it is his best solo album ever. It was not very commercial album and the mood for the most part is somber. Usually, a McCartney album will have a clunker or two no matter how good it is, this album is flawless IMO. Kudos to Nigel Godrich for getting and demanding the best from Paul. He had the guts to stand up to Paul and tell him the truth when something was not good. Sadly, too many people don't even know this great album exists which is a shame.

I was pleasantly surprised by the song they picked as #1 -lol. See link

RE: Brian Wilson has dementia
Very sad news. I am sure he is not handling the death of his wife very well.

RE: Anyone like the Lemon Twigs?
I was just teasing you, I will check out new album.

RE: Run Devil Run 25th Anniversary
I have said it a few times so forgive me for repeating myself. I wish Paul would have done a full tour with the RDR band in small venues. He could have played the entire album for the first set and take short break. The 2nd set could have been some early Beatle classics and maybe throw in a couple of his solo songs he had not done since he last played live. Oh well.

RE: Billy Joel New Single
Gotcha. I bought one of their albums/CD's (got one as a gift also) due to your recommendation on another post. They both were pretty good, enjoyed them. You never replied to my comment about it -lol.

Billy Joel New Single
Billy Joel released/dropped his first new song in 17 years, it is a single called "Turn The Lights Back On". I listened to it twice and all I could say sadly was "meh". Would be interested what others think of it. Maybe it is me -lol

RE: McCartney II returns to Billboard album charts
Starting rotation is not good after Cole. Dumbest trade Cashman made in a long time was trading Montgomery for Bader a few years ago. Never liked Rodon and he proved me correct last year missing half the season with injury and then being ineffective. Cortez had one good year and last year was injured and did not pitch well, he needs to prove himself. Scmidt is ok. Bullpen is decent although Holmes as closer scares me. Stroman is nothing special, basically a .500 pitcher.

RE: McCartney II returns to Billboard album charts
Different opinions make the world go round and no need for insulting name. My favorite McCartney solo albums are CHAOS, TOW, FITD among others. Loved RDR which is his mostly covers of 50's rock and his vocals are fantastic. To me "McCartney II" is trash, have no problems if you and others love it.

RE: Ten bands that should retire...guess who is on the list
OMG - Jeter of course. A-Rod is a scumbag. I love the new Stones album also, got is as a Christmas present.

RE: The Beatles Mentioned on TV
People on this board should understand while we think these type questions are easy, most of them are things that happened 60 years ago, and most contestants were not even born. They had a category awhile back called "Yankee Stadium" and not one question was answered correctly. Obviously, I got them all correct but even my wife (not a Yankee fan -lol) would have gotten 4 of the questions correct.

RE: Ten bands that should retire...guess who is on the list
I think many of us agree what he said about Paul. His voice has steadily gone downhill while he is singing them in the same key. He mentioned "Maybe I'm Amazed" as the prime example and once again I don't think many would disagree. Saw Jon Bon Jovi several years ago and his voice has deteriorated a bunch and Richie Sambora was not with the band at that time. Good that he is back but if Jon Bon Jovi still sounds like he did when I saw him people will continue to say band should hang it up. If anybody really believes Frankie Valli still actually sings in concert than they deserve to get ripped off by paying money to see him.

RE: Five Best Artists Live - Non Paul/Beatles
One regret I have had is I never got to see the Moody Blues live, love their music. I was never into country music or Garth Brooks but by all accounts, he puts on a great show and is adored by his fans. Springsteen is not afraid to play a bunch of "deep cuts" so that is not a total surprise. Sorry you were disappointed. In the 1980's my brother and I met Billy Joel's sound man in a bar in Bayville, NY. He kept us rolling with laughter with his stories about hanging out with Billy and the band reaction to the first time Christie Brinkley showed up at a show. One other story about Billy was my Mother was bookkeeper at bicycle store on LI for many years. One day this woman walks into the store wanting to buy a very expensive bicycle for her husband for his birthday. It turned out this lady was Elizabeth Joel, Billy's first wife. My Mom said she was very nice, and her only request was to have it delivered with a big red bow on it -lol.

RE: Five Best Artists Live - Non Paul/Beatles
Once again, it has been corrected. You do know I make these mistakes on purpose just to see if you catch them - lmao!!!

Five Best Artists Live - Non Paul/Beatles
I would like to know the top five people you have enjoyed the most seeing live that is not Paul or any other Beatle. If you want to go into detail that is fine, just listing them is cool also.
-
Bruce Springsteen - I have seen him twice and both times he was awesome. He plays over 3 hours and his E-Street band is fantastic. Bruce has incredible energy, and you can tell he loves performing. Love the stories he tells about his songs to the audience
-
Led Zeppelin - musically they were incredible the night I saw them, especially Jimmy Page. From the moment they hit the stage with "Rock And Roll", they rocked for hours. Rare exception were songs like "Stairway To Heaven" and "Going To California" which were excellent. Robert Plant was a great vocalist back then and very charismatic.
-
Fleetwood Mac - I have seen them three times and loved them all. Between the great vocals of Nicks/McVie and the very underrated guitar playing of Lindsey Buckingham it is a wonderful musical experience. Mick Fleetwood on drums can also be a bit of a show also -lol.
-
Billy Joel - I have seen him a bunch including his show with Elton John. It is hard not to have a great time at his concerts. His songs can rock and are great to sing along to like "Piano Man" -lol. Billy's bands over the years are great musicians and I love the great sax solo on "NY State of Mind" Billy is quite funny and interacts with the audience very well, especially when he plays in NY.
-
Tina Turner - The first time I saw her was in Las Vegas in the mid 1970's. She blew everyone away that night with her singing and dancing and I was lucky to have been very close to the stage. That was back in the day when the scum bucket Ike Turner was around. Years later, I saw her at Jones Beach Theater, and she was still fantastic. The energy and dancing were still excellent, and she was very open about her life now with the audience.

RE: “Hard” Beatles quiz?
The only one I missed was #16, the question about the tailor of their suits. I will admit I made lucky guesses about their consecutive appearances at Hamburg and Liverpool club. For a casual Beatle fan, some of these questions might be hard. For most members on this board, quiz is not that hard.

RE: McCartney II returns to Billboard album charts
To each their own but IMO this album is absolutely trash and has no redeeming songs. Sorry but I am not a fan of "Temporary Secretary" and "Coming Up" even though they were "hits".
