I don't like the female backup singers....it makes me think of Vegas acts. I've seen Neil Diamond, Rod Stewart, and Bob Seger all do it live...and it looks very dated.
Backup singers get all the best moves. When I saw Dylan back in 86, I couldn't take my eyes off the backup singers
Exactly! They can be distracting too!

Depends on the act. Jamiroquai, Stereo MCs, The Rolling Stones, Black Crowes, among countless others, have used 'em. And it didn't seem "loungy" at all. I believe The Police used female backing singers during their huge Synchronicity Tour.

When I saw Pink Floys on their Division Bell Tour, their singers -- in their long, flowy dresses -- seemed like angels. Definitely an asset to their show.

That's why I like Madonna's concerts. Lots of very fit dancers. Who cares if they don't sing?

Linda's backing vocals added a lot to Paul's work for three decades.

Backup singers are overrated. He needs a go-go dancer

Some dancers like he had at the Apollo for 'Hitch Hike'.... Cannot see Wixy and the boys donning little mini dresses and camping it up so Paul will have to splash out a bit....add a brass section, hot backing singers, a quartet and some vocal warm up and we're laughing!

there is something that Paul should do and IMO there is nothing wrong with it ... someone like Elton John did it continuously all his life, probably other famous singers over 50 secretly did also.. so whats the problem? I wish Paul would do it.
I'm suggesting a medical solution here vocal chords surgery I don't see anything wrong with it ... this golden throat brought happiness to the world for 5 decades, how about to giving it a little care.
This sounds like a very reasonable idea , as long as it isn't too risky. I also just things he needs a bit of a rest right now...
If he really needed vocal chord surgery, he wouldn't be able to sing at all. I know a guy who plays John in a Beatles cover band who lost his voice during one of their shows and he had surgery for polyps and is fine now.
It's been a long time, so my details may be sketchy, but i believe that Elton John had that procedure in '87. I remember reading about him commenting that he felt that his voice was going out during his very popular Australian concert, where that live version of "Candle In The Wind" became a gi-normous hit in 1987. By the time Reg Strikes Back came out in the '88, the difference in his voice showed tremendous improvement.
you are right about Elton John details, and listen to him now, he sounds the same as 1988, but it never sounds the same as the 70's era. For Paul, I think he can get the best medical experts to check if this would be dangerous or not! (maybe he did?!) there must be a solution.. I cannot understand how Eric Clapton still sounds the same (if not better) than his early singing days!

I think some are getting carried away because I mentioned backing singers - I was thinking more along the lines of what Linda brought to Paul's songs, some say she couldn't sing yet no one has ever come close to matching her harmonies since, lets be honest here, none of his current band can sing let alone harmonise.

I know some will surely distract atention... Denise Milani as backing vocals/dancer/all around entertainment... I wouldn't miss any Paul show
