Show just ended. He played "Jet", "Things We Said Today" and "I Saw Her Standing There", in place of "Listen to What the Man Said", "I've Just Seen a Face" and "Get Back". "Jet" definitely added another level of excitement to the start of the show; perhaps Thursday, we'll hear "Junior's Farm". Paul was visibly struggling with high notes and there were someextremely rough patches, reinforcing the view that he should probably try to avoid consecutive nights. "And I Love Her" and "Maybe I'm Amazed" and "Helter Skelter" were particularly ragged, and by the end of the show, you could see him pushing to get everything he could out of voice. That said, it was a spirited, warm performance by Paul. You get the sense that the audience knows he is struggling a bit with his voice, and is supporting him, savoring those moments when he hits those high notes. ,Basically, though, the Out There show, with the four new songs, is a great show - extremely well-paced. The only "bathroom break" for me is "Let Me Roll It", simply because I've heard it way too much.

How much are the soundcheck pkg in Japan?

How much are the soundcheck pkg in Japan?
80,000 Yen or about $800 or 500 GBP. Not quite as expensive as elsewhere. Same deal, I think people were near the center in the 3rd through 6th or 7th rows or so. with the first two rows reserved for "ordinary folk" who get upgraded. Japan's not a great place to do VIP packages for a couple of reasons. A lot of people go (275 this time) so the logistics take time - we ended up waiting 2 hours in a corridor, and an additional hour on the stadium floor - the earlier you checked in, the longer you waited. Also, because the seating is so far from the main stage in the stadiums, you're not as close as you would be in a US/European arena - I would estimate that the first row is really 5 or 6 rows from he stage because of that huge pit. Still, all in all, I don't think anyone had any complaints since when he actually got around to it, the sound check was a great selection of songs.

OMG!!!! Tonights gig was even better than last night!!! I think it was one of the best shows ever!!! soundcheck was very very late and another short soundcheck... the prohibited pics : I snuck some in anyway! Ailgator was played at soundcheck.. it was great - also Highway don@t let the sun catch you crying- george Fromby song ??? what kinda pissed me off was that people were put up front - an upgrade... us regular fans never get an upgrade.. and all the chicks in the deadcenter front row section were very young and cute ... I was third row center isle.. they played Saw Her Standing there-- the crowd was very wild!! Paul and the band were really into it... Phil, told Shelly you said hello!!

So glad you are having such a great time! Very happy for you! You got the best possible upgrade during the last leg ..., being called up on stage, it doesn't get better than that! Right Drivin Fan? Thanks for saying hello to Shelley for me. I know she knows me when she see's me because she recognized me at Times Square but I don't think she would remember me by name. Did you recognize many fans from previous shows?

That's because Paul performs the Gerry Marsden version (Gerry and the Pacemakers) which is not the same song as the Ray Charles version (written by someone else btw) even tho they have the same title.

This is nothing new, happens at the US shows, too.

also not really specific to Japan. There is always waiting around prior to soundcheck, and I've spent 2 hours standing in a corridor at US and Canadian gigs with less than 200 soundcheckers. I must say THANKS! to everyone for your reports and reviews, please keep them coming! Glad you all are having such a great time with Paul.

right. 2 totally different songs. and Macca DOES DO Ray's song even since Sgt. Pepper days he has been covering Ray's song, my favourite cover being the one on Tripping the Live Fantastic
