Beatles US albums to be released in January
-
I got my copy of the Boxset in the post it's really good. First section is in Mono then in Stereo it did confuse me at first when I was listening to the first album then it played the sing list again then I released I was listening to Mono first them on to Stereo you can def hear the defence so if you prefer to listen to Mono or Stereo you can though I listened to The Stereo side. Got two more albums to listen to that is Revolver and Hey Jude. As fir The Yesterday and Today album it comes with a sticker so you can choose which cover you want .

The new box set is a total fraud!!! These are NOT the Capitol albums released in the 60s, not even close. (I have the Capitol Albums Volumes 1 & 2 CDs, which ARE the Capitol albums with the unique mixes.) The ones in the new box are essentially only the 2009 versions repackaged. I was fool enough to buy the entire new box set from Amazon....$183.00, including tax...for what amounts to new sleeves and song sequencing. What a massive fraud!!! Shame on Capitol. Shame on Apple. Shame on The Beatles.

Some of the tracks ARE reportedly the actual U.S. mixes, but still, this is a bizarre way to handle this project. Should have been all original, or they shouldn't have bothered at all. What I have still not heard is: for the U.S. mixes they did use, did they use the "Capitol Years" remasters from 2004/06, or did they create completely new remasters?

This page has a good visual of each U.S. album, and which British releases all the tracks came from: http://ultimateclassicrock.com/beatles-us-uk-album-guide/

Thanks for posting that link. That's great news. Hopefully, they reissue Yesterday and Today with the Butcher Cover.
That would be awesome! I'm totally getting this! As far as Beatle Lp's I own zero US versions, I've totally been a UK version snob to this point in my collecting, but this will knock out the US all in one shot! Love it. And I've always wanted that Hey Jude record.

No, it never was. Never released on an album in the U.S. till the "1962-66" set in 1973.

Thanks. Don't see "There's A Place" either. Not sure why that song even occurred to me to look, but I sort of had assumed the numerous early Capitol albums had, at some point, included all those (early) songs.

I know that several slipped through the cracks in all of Capitol's slicing and dicing. Off the top of my head, they included: Love Me Do [original single] Misery There's A Place From Me To You A Hard Day's Night (!) I'm Down The Inner Light Across The Universe [wildlife fund version] You Know My Name Eventually, Capitol got around to all of them somehow or other in the '70s and '80s (Rarities, Rock and Roll Music, 1962-1966, etc.).

Yesterday and Today has the "butcher cover" but when you first see it packaged it is still covered with the "steamer trunk" cover. But it isn't stuck on, it is a loose sticker and when you take it out of the cover slip, voila! Butcher cover! They are all packaged like Japanese mini-LP's too, with obi strips and nice sleeves for each CD. I only got the one so far, to pick up Y&T on release day, but it's a fair job Capitol/UMG did of this.

Well, it's going to be a mixture of US and UK throughout the box, but I don't know exactly where they draw the line. I just listened to a few iTunes samples from Beatles '65 and the mono versions of "I Feel Fine" and "She's A Woman" have the echoey US mixes, but the stereo versions are clearly the "cleaner" UK mixes; however, "I'll Be Back" and "Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby" sound like the echoey US mixes all the way. The Examiner.com article did say that at times they used the US versions as a guide for edits and mixes, but re-created them using the UK masters, so it will take someone sharper than me to figure out what's real or not in all of this, since I'm not planning on getting the box.
