My ultimate preferred track list and other bonuses if I were in charge of Pure McCartney (fair disclosure I am still buying it) I was looking at my set of Message in A Box by the Police which contains a total of 78 tracks. It is rare for me to quote my own previous post but figured I would add more tracks for fun. I figured I would go for a total of 75 tracks. If I were on Paul's marketing team I might also release a bonus DVD (as well as Blu Ray) containing selected greatest hits videos (like on the McCartney years) and even some not released on that collection in 2007. With that DVD/Blu Ray I would include the Put It There, Paul McCartney Special, and Chaos and Creation documentary that was not released on the 2005 special edition of Chaos and Creation(which would all be exclusive to this set). Here is the expanded track listing below: DISC 1: 1. Maybe I'm Amazed 2. Back On My Feet 3. Not Such A Bad Boy 4. No Values 5. (Brand new song recorded for Pure McCartney) 6. Dear Boy 7. The First Stone 8. The Song We Were Singing 9. Uncle Albert / Admiral Halsey 10. Early Days 11 Ram On (Reprise) 12. Big Barn Bed 13. Another Day 14. Flaming Pie 15. Jenny Wren 16. Too Many People 17 Smile Away 18. Yvonne (Unreleased Press to Play sessions) 19. I Love This House DISC 2: 1. (Brand new song recorded for Pure McCartney) 2. Hang Glide (Press to Play B side) 3. Mull of Kintyre 4. Save Us 5. 1882 6. Spies Like Us 7. Let 'Em In 8. Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five 9. Calico Skies 10. Try Not to Cry 11. Waterfalls 12. Band on the Run 13. Appreciate 14. Sing The Changes 15. Arrow Through Me 16. Every Night 17. Junior?s Farm 18 With A Little Luck (Full Album Version off London Town) 19. Kicked Around No More DISC 3: 1. Say Say Say [2015 Remix] 2. My Valentine 3. (Brand new song recorded for Pure McCartney) 4. The World Tonight 5. Souvenir 6. Simple as That (1986 version previously on the 1993 Press to Play re release) 7. Ebony and Ivory 8. ___________________________________________________ Ed, Now that would be a Pure McCartney I would buy in a heartbeat. And it may sound hard to believe but you could do a Pure McCartney 2 with 75 more songs and it would be just as good.
-
Not hard to believe at all. That's the somewhat frustrating thing is that with some additional thought this could be a no brainier collection for casual and hard core fans alike.

I listened to Flaming Pie (along with Beatles & Badfinger) on my way from Louisville to Atlanta today. One of the few of his solo albums I can listen to without skipping a song or two. The other is NEW that I really like. To be honest, I haven't listened to his solo albums enough to even know what song is on what album! *ducks rotten tomatoes* I guess I need to revisit them and see if my opinion is the same or has changed. I know I can't stand Nod Your Head, but couldn't tell you which CD it's on! Is it Memory Almost Full? ops:

I still think "Oh Woman Oh Why" is one of Paul's greatest treasures. The voice! And I love 'A Love For You' And "It's Not True". None of those getting a lot of love, so maybe it's just me. They'd be walk-ups in my Pure McCartney

_________________________________________________________ Nancy, To answer your question...It is on Memory Almost Full. One thing that drives me nuts about Paul is when he puts clunkers on an CD when 80% of the CD is great. And it is not because he doesn't have other better songs as replacements. MAF arguably could have been his overall best album. It had everything in terms of all the genres. Just remove Gratitude (horrible vocals) and Nod You Head replacing them with fantastic B sides like This Loving Game and Summer of 59 and you would have a terrific CD where you wouldn't skip any track. As it is, I just skip those 2 songs and the rest is great. As far as revisiting some of Paul's solo albums...knowing that you love Beatle CD's, I would definitely play Tug of War. That is Paul's most Beatlesque album with George Martin as the full Producer. I love practically every track. The only track that I sometimes skip or stop in the middle is "What's That Your Doing" with Stevie Wonder. It's just too long and gets a little monotonous. As far as other newer CD's i would also revisit Chaos and Creation. Give me some details on your Louisville experience. What bands did you hear? Favorite songs? What else did they offer regarding Beatles/Paul. You can PM if you choose.

BJ has already answered your question about "Nod Your Head" and I would also recommend CHAOS and TOW albums. If you like 50's rock and don't mind that it is only three original McCartney songs I think RDR would be a great CD to listen to in the car.

"One thing that drives me nuts about Paul is when he puts clunkers on an CD when 80% of the CD is great. " I agree and FITD could have been awesome with some editing. (exp. Motor Of Love)

From the website "McCartney curated career-spanning compilation out 10th June. As a songwriter Paul has never stood still, dipping his toe in countless genres and styles. 'Pure McCartney' is testament to that fact. From the songwriting masterclass of 'Maybe I'm Amazed' and adventurous, three-songs-in-one of 'Band On The Run' to the irresistible groove of 'Say Say Say' and ahead-of-its-time electronica of 'Temporary Secretary', described by NME when compiling a list of the greatest ever songs as ?not so much ahead of its time, but out of it altogether?, 'Pure McCartney' charts the unstoppable adventures of McCartney's unique and eclectic songwriting talents and shines a light on his post-Beatles artistic achievements." Wow I for one am pretty excited. It comes out the day after my birthday too! I really like that's it's put together by Paul. Neat album artwork too. Thoughts?
So it looks one of the reasons for "Pure McCartney" is merchandising", see T-shirts are for sale. Geez, is every thing about money.

lol. I expect merchandise for all the tours, that is basic. I guess they figure their is a sucker born every minute and will buy a expensive T-shirt for basically a "compilation" CD.

It seems that we have a bit different mix of Early Days. It starts in 4:45 in hte video below. If you listen carefully you can hear some high vocal harmony that isn't in the original mix. Also you can hear that the guitars in the end are quite differently mixed. Maybe it's a mix just for this video, but interesting to hear it

I just looked at Amazon's Website regarding Pure McCartney. At this point the consumer can "sample" a handful of tracks. It was only about 6 tracks from my memory. The ones I can remember are: Maybe I'm Amazed Jet Live and Let Die Save Us and a couple more. I quickly sampled Maybe I'm Amazed because I was interested in whether the consumer would be getting the original album track or the single track from Wings Over America. The sample is showing the original album track. I would be assuming that we are not going to get "live" songs on any of the tracks. But I am curious about album tracks vs. "single" tracks. I looked up 2 tracks to try to get the answer but unfortunately they had no "sample" that you could hear. They were: With a Little Luck - are you going to get the album track or the single (edited) track Junior's Farm - album track vs. single (reduced) track Wonder if anyone has found any other sources that would confirm questions like the above. thanks
-
What happened to the "Early Days" Promo video? I can't find it on JauntVR, YouTube, Facebook...I hope I feel ok...I think it's gone!

'With A Little Luck' is the DJ Edit. 'No More Lonely Nights' is going to be the 7" version.

_______________________________________________ Thanks Kestrel. That's disappointing regarding "With a Little Luck". I love the longer original album version by far the best.

I just hope that Venus & Mars / Rock Show is going to be the album version as the single edit was dreadful.
