Sgt._Pepper:
Let it Be 66:
With the re-release of Sgt. Pepper, I would love to hear Paul open with the title track. He has performed the Reprise often, but has not done the title track in concert since 1993, I believe.
The last time he did it was at a Live 8 in 2005:
____________________________________________________ I hear what you are saying and I'm always for changes in the setlist but as the 1st song I think he would be better sticking with Hard Days Night. I say that because of the status of his voice and Hard Day's Night seems to be working pretty well. Paul's band joins for almost all the song and it comes off pretty darn well in my opinion. That is especially important for the opening song and getting the crowd in the right mood. But I would be all for bringing in the full "Sgt. Pepper" song maybe after the acoustic set. By that time, Paul's voice would be more settled in. It usually takes Paul 4-5 songs to get into his groove. Paul's original vocal on Sgt. Pepper is so iconic and if he opened with it and it was bad, the 1st timers (the majority) might be startled and it could carry over for several songs. Just my opinion. I think Paul has for the most part played it too safe and predictable over the last 4-5 years but in this case I think as the concert opener he should play it safe and stick with another iconic song that is working.

I really don't expect any changes. None of these July cities have seen the original one on one show so I would expect same setlist. If they are extremely lucky, maybe one or two new songs max. Historically, the man does not change much

I will be absolutely shocked if much changes if anything.

If we use the Out There tour as an example, he did change about 4 songs each year he did it. 13- Original Set List 14- Added the 4 "New" Songs 15- Added Another Girl, Can't Buy Me Love, Temporary Secretary, Hope for the Future

I'm kinda glad I'm going to Miami, as at least there is a (very) small element of surprise... My favorite show ever was Miami 2005, opening night of the US Tour. I had absolutely no clue what songs to expect. And getting to hear I'll Get You, Til There Was You, I Will, For No One, Fixing A Hole, Good Day Sunshine, Too Many People, She Came In Through The Bathroom Window, and Please Please Me, without any prior knowledge. (Plus all the new Chaos And Creation songs.)

I would love to hear different song for opener especially if it was ever a solo song (lol - in my dreams) but that will never happen again. Since it will be a Beatle song, I agree with you that "Hard Day's Night" works especially since everyone recognizes the classic opening chord of the song.

The original setlist went on for 1,5 years though then, we're now not even past 1 year and 3 months yet, and there's no new material to add this time, and he already changed 3 songs since. I expect no changes whatsoever since Tokyo, not counting him leaning towards either 'Jet' or 'Junior's Farm' more by chance.

You can't measure it by time, it's best to measure it by number of legs per tour. I suspect we will see 2-3 songs different from the Japanese leg...and that does NOT necessarily mean never before played. That just means that maybe Drive My Car will come back...or Day Tripper will pop up in an encore, or he might drop Every Night into the acoustic set etc.

After tomorrow, I will be avoiding this thread, as well as the Miami and Tampa threads. I want to be surprised (if possible!) on the 13th. My expectations are low, so I won't be disappointed.

Same here! If I weren't going early in the tour, I wouldn't have the willpower!

I'm wrong anyway since I couldn't count for a moment and made "1,5 year" of "half a year" . The legs of the 'Out There' tour were too short to measure that, but the 4 'New' songs were already added after 25 gigs in 4 months. But it doesn't say much since that was down to the timing of the album release, and he only dropped solo songs leftover from the previous tours and one fresh Beatles addition. We're now at the point where the latter already occurred. The next (for him) major change wasn't until a year and a half after that moment.

I should have been more specific, but I was referring to each US leg. While it might not have been one calendar year for the set list change, it basically was from his last regular show in the US in 2013 to Albany in 2014. This is the second US leg for One on One. And there was the comment he made about refreshing the set list. So, I am expecting 4 different songs than the previous concert I attended at Hershey in 2016. Doubt there will be more, but will be happy with anything different than last time.

http://www.rollingstone.com/music/features/paul-mccartney-on-touring-beatles-hits-kanye-and-jay-z-w490158 Will you be doing anything different on this leg of the One on One tour? Basically, we're doing the One on One show, and we've just jigged it around a little bit. It's a refreshed version of it. And most of the places we're going to, we haven't actually played [on previous legs], so they haven't seen One on One. Since the fantastic Sgt. Pepper's box set just came out, will you be putting more from that album in the set? Well, we do a few. We put the actual "Sgt. Pepper's" song in. I hate to say this, but there's only three surprises that we have in the show, so here I go giving them away. What I would try to do is have people go, "Oh, I didn't know they do that one, man." So yeah, there are one or two. But as far as these days with the Internet world, you can't have a surprise after the first gig. There are a few.

I guess we are forgetting when he was describing the tour as "minty fresh" in interviews. Until the shows came, yeah, not so minty or fresh
