The ..2012.... Political thread

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/11/04/judge-orders-virginia-to-preserve-absentee-ballots-from-military/ Due to the fact that absentee ballots were sent out late to our troops overseas, the news media are now reporting that election results won't be fully decided until another ten days. I agree; if you're overseas fighting for our country, then your vote should COUNT!! ______________________ Say something dude! I'm gonna pee!

I'm out of here. Whoever wins tonight, may it be the best man. And if you haven't voted hurrrrrrrrrrry up!

the obama accusers are being wildly unreasonable. who is more vetted than a presidential candidate, whom is more thoroughly checked out and scrutinized? there's been no real dirt dug up on Obama, else he'd never have gotten the nomination. how dumb do you think we are? you're grasping at straws.
There's been no real dirt dug up on Obama? Has anyone seen this guy's Harvard records? Did he ever WRITE anything for the Harvard review? Here is a man who is very good at politics and attaining positions but has accomplished little. Obama supporters- please tell me one thing he has actually accomplished other than being a black senator?
a law degree from Harvard :
I also have a law degree from Harvard - can I be President too?

Paul, i think this country knows a lot about a civil war already. And, if they didn;t go to war in 2o00, I doubt they will this time. I was going to say some things, like how insanely crazy is that Mike says everything he is saying...but hey, who cares anymore. In several hours, we will have a new president, and I am sure some heads are going to explode after not being able to process what just happen. I am so ready for that. Some people need to snap out of the state they are in. Denial. Complete denial, and an incredibly way to attack a leader of the other part of being a "nigg***", to say "off with his head", and for people to say that is freedom of speech, like I have heard say. I am so happy I am not a part of that side of this country.

there's no purpose in trying to reason with the unreasonable. 'whats good and admirable and praiseworthy' well, did anyone here graduate from Harvard, become the good kind of lawyer who helps, become an activist doing good to benefit the planet and its people, rising from humble poor origins to become a senator and then get to run for president and become what they call the most powerful person in the world, and accomplish all this being bi-racial therefore facing discrimination at times and some trying to make you feel inferior, second class and even subhuman? have any of you done anything like that? he's obviously very intelligent and of a good character and has character and personality & a sense of humor too, can be witty, and is charming. you'd better learn to see the good in him as he is likely to win the presidency. The GOP screwed things up and botched things up big time for the past eight years even leaving hundreds of thousands dead, they thought war is cool & groovy it's the Dems turn to try to rectify some things and make progress.

Believe me - I am not one to bottom line so quickly on a response, but it is like trying to reason with a brainwashed person. The next thing out of her mouth is "can't afford 4 more of the same", "voted with Bush 90%" - I mean it is frustrating how the Obama campaign brainwashing has made him into a Martyr to bring the "Change we need" when nobody understands his background and policies. When they are introduced, it's all Candy... liking the sweet but ignoring the cavities it creates.

Democrats are desperate for power. If McCain wins then there'll be another 4 years or 8 years for the Republicans to dominate the Congress. We can always hope for the best!

STATISTICS From the National Black Republicans........ In spite of evidence to the contrary, Democrats continue to repeat the mantra that ?Republicans do not care about poor blacks and poor people.? Ignored is the fact that, since the War on Poverty that began in the 1960?s, more than $7 trillion dollars haves been spent on poverty programs, with over $500 billion spent on 80 poverty programs in 2006 alone. Contrary to the claims by Democrats, the No Child Left Behind Act which brings accountability to the school system is fully funded to the tune of $13.1 billion. In reality, Republicans have cut no programs designed to help the poor. Unknown by most blacks is the fact that a federal law mandates an automatic increase in funding for poverty programs. In addition to that 3.5 percent increase in taxes paid by the wealthy, the myth that the Bush tax cuts benefited only the rich is but another myth propagated by the DNC. For example, a single person earning 30 K in 1999 paid $8,400 in taxes but, paid but $4,500 in 2008. A married person with 60 K income under the Clinton administration paid 16,800 while the tab dropped to $9,000 under Bush? those married making 125 K saw a reduction from $38,750 to $31, 250. Anyone who bothers to review the U. S Federal Individual Income Tax Rates History, 1913-2008 would learn that the benefits from the Bush tax cuts occurred across the taxpayer spectrum. http://www.taxfoundation.org/research/topic/83.html http://www.nationalblackrepublicans.com/index.cfm? fuseaction=pages.DYK-Democratic%20Party%20Thinks%20Blacks%20Are%20Stupi&tp_preview=true

If you are an American and a registered voter of course you can participate but what good is it if you aren't? Then you are just fooling yourself because you have no idea what is going on here in the 50 states. -------------------------- Okay! If you don't want to debate something, fine! Just don't chop up my posts and accuse me of things you know to be untrue.
You said them. How am I supposed to know they are untrue? I'm not pulling this out of thin air.
Mikemc:
As you can see from my previous post it's not a good thing to do. Don't ignore substance and refuse to discuss substance and attack me for my opinion.
I'm sorry, is there a rule here stating that if I am going to comment about one thing that I find particularly offensive (your insults) that I have to comment about something else just for sake of it? That doesn't make sense. Also, YOU PROVED MY POINT by using that quote! Really, how do you not see that? I made a ridiculous generalization about black people that cannot be interpreted any other way, despite the context. It was an example. And you were right, saying something like means that a person is racist and full of hatred. Exactly!
Mikemc:
It's obvious by now you didn't care that people on your side of the aisle celebrated a slow painful death from someone with cancer and an elderly woman with a head injury from a life threatening fall. So save your sanctimonious bulls**t for the wine and cheeze crowd.
I have no clue how that is so obvious, as I never said anything to the like, but I won't ask you to back that up for the sake of letting this die.
Mikemc:
"I could be wrong" is what I said, but you claim that I stated it as fact. Don't try to read my mind because you haven't a clue. I have a right to an opinion and I will express it whenever I choose to. If you don't like my opinion attack it by showing me and others how and why I'm wrong. Don't initiate personal insults at me while refusing to debate the substance.
Okay well since your accusation was an opinion and not a fact, whatever the heck difference that makes, I guess it's alright...? I would have loved for you to give more reason for why you would assume such a radical thing. That's why I initially asked for clarification. It does make a difference. I formed my opinion based on facts that I outlined in my original post in the same paragraph. It was there for you to read. I even state that I'm basing my opinion on the fact that the Obama campaign has used every trick in the book to get elected. Then I state what those facts are. I even reposted it and colored it in blue so you couldn't miss it. Whenever I form an opinion I base it on facts. Do you think I enjoy disliking Obama? When he started getting serious as a candidate and I didn't know much about him I couldn't help but like him. He's polite, friendly, likable, and he does something I like that Kerry and Gore almost never did: he smiles and he laughs. Those two were the most depressing people I ever saw. If Obama wins I hope he turns out to be the best president we ever had. But based on his record in the state and U.S. Senate I think he's gonna make us long for the good ole days of Jimmy Carter
Mikemc:
A friend of mine has an Obama/Biden poster on his lawn. I told him if that was a McCain/Palin poster he could very well find a flat tire or a broken window on his car when he comes out one morning. Or he could get a rock through his window in the middle of the night when he and the family is sleeping. He knew what I was talking about and agreed.
I guess your friend isn't from my side of town. Look, I don't have the time to sit here and do this all day, but I needed to let you know that your comments were personally offensive and I believe most democrats would find them offensive. I don't think the generalizations and the false assumptions are necessary to make a valid argument. You don't have to say something outright to imply something (like your last paragraph implying that democrats are more likely to vandalize than Republicans). I am not sitting here saying "you're such a typical Republican for being so pompous and disrespectful" because I don't make silly generalizations like that. Both parties have people who deceive, lie, scheme, etc., etc. And both have decent, honest people as well. We don't need to keep dividing ourselves by throwing below-the-waist punches at eachother.
Your comments were personally offensive to me. That's because you singled me out for personal insults. You didn't like what I said about the typical left wing hatred. Instead of mixing it up on substance you attacked me personally. You edited out the part of the post where I put left wing hatred into context. It was about the leftists celebrating the death of Tony Snow and the near death fall from Nancy Reagan. When you asked me rather rhetorically if I think EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY HAS NO MORALS. I made it quite clear that I said no such thing and that my issue is that not enough mainstream Democrats condemn that kind of hatred. You made it clear that you wouldn't either. Remember this, I didn't specifically single out you for personal attack. You did just that to me. Over and over. Moments ago on the news there was coverage in my friends hometown at the school where they vote. Something I never gave thought to one way or the other was mentioned: his town is overwhelmingly Republican. Yet, he has no fear of putting an Obama poster up on his lawn. I have a lot of friends who are Democrats. I have voted for Democrats many times. Can you make the same claim about yourself and Republicans? Something just popped into my head. When Nixon beat McGovern in 1972 in a landslide. Nixon's 520 to McGovern's 17 electoral college votes a woman author, whose name escapes me, expressed shock. "I don't know how Nixon could have won, I don't know anyone who voted for him". In her world there are only other left wing radicals like herself. She was so shocked to learn that not everyone thought like her and everyone she knows. But she didn't learn it from hearing other opinions or reading authors different from her. She learned it when McGovern got slaughtered in a landslide.

Christian24, you already said it. It's too bad you read the posts of others to find out "what I said". You should read my words in their entirety. It's so easy even a Democrat can read it. The Republicans haven't played the race card in this contest, Obama did that. He sat back waiting for the McCain camp to play the race card. When it didn't happen Obama played the race card. Remember? "They will say he doesn't look like all the other presidents on the dollar bills. They will say he has a funny name. Oh, and did I tell you he's also black?" So, I think it's a little late for you to play the race card. Obama and John Murtha beat you to it.

Well I just got back from voting...along with the presidential and representitive selections, we also got 3 questions on the ballots here in Massachusetts: 1) Should we eliminate state tax? I voted yes even though I was torn due to being able to see this being trouble down the line, 2) should marijuana be downgraded from being a criminal to a civil offense? Once again I voted yes. and 3) should dog racing be banned, to which I voted no. As far as my candidates, I'll discuss this topic later this evening when I get a feel of where the 'battle lines' are drawn
