The Official U2 Thread!
-
I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet, U2 are going to be the musical guests *all week* on The Late Show with David Letterman. Yes, that's right, all five nights they'll be performing, presumably 5 different songs from their latest album. Then again it may be 4 new songs and one U2 classic. So if you like U2, check out The Late Show all this week.

Comcast Subscribers......Heads-Up...... Comcast is promoting U2 and their new cd now through the 6th of April. They currently have 47 U2 music videos available on demand, including Get On Your Boots, and 6 concert performances available on demand. Check it out!

For those that have beeen unable to watch the BBC material, Jo Wiley asked the direct question about touring: "Touring? Summer? Late Summer? Autumn?" to which Bono replied "Early Summer" to great applause. Of course that may have been for an English/European audience's consumption. He also hinted at a change in set design as rumoured above "to make the experience more intimate in stadiums". Cheaper tickets due to the recession - but also plenty of expensive ones as "rich people have feelings too..." Martin

U2 - No Line On The Horizon - deluxe 2 LP vinyl gatefold w/book released yesterday in the U.S. A beautiful addition to my LP collection, and a fine album I might add!
-
Bono has now fleshed out the snippet of news that broke in their interview with Chris Evans at the BBC. In that interview Chris presed them about the unreleased material recorded during sessions for No Line On The Horizon - they had reported recorded 50 - 60 songs. Adam Clayton replied they may release another album next year.... Now this extract from a Bono interview for Rolling Stone:
The new disc will be called "Songs of Ascent," and it will be more mellow than the current album, "No Line on the Horizon," singer Bono says in a cover story in the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine.
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/22/20090304/ten-uk-u2-album-6ea0823.html As they already have an album title and have chosen a potential first single from the album I suggest that's probably more than "may" Martin

Heads Up USA U2 are hitting the States big time over the next few weeks. The latest news is a free TV broadcast concert: http://uk.news.yahoo.com/22/20090305/ten-uk-u2-promo-6ea0823.html
U2 will play a free show at a Boston theatre next Wednesday, capping a whirlwind trek to three U.S. cities to promote its new album and upcoming world tour, the group's label said on Wednesday. The Irish rockers' performance at the "historic" venue will be broadcast, as will one-hour interviews conducted in Los Angeles on Monday and Chicago on Tuesday.
Don't they just love a "tease"? ...... Martin

Thanks for spotting that, I'm all agog to see the stadium set design. Just for information this web-site is one of the better unofficial fan-sites where the gossip on U2 is hot and up-to-date - there is also a related forum, just follow the link: http://www.atu2.com/ http://forum.atu2.com/ Martin

The only U2 album I like is "Pop".
-
The new album is really quite good. I'm not a great lover of U2, but this one seems to have a certain something that has been missing from their music for a number of years.
-
who's going to see U2 on 360 tour? Toronto Sept 16th! and who knows we get more dates!
-
what's the story with the U2 drummer, I thought I saw him posed naked on one of their album covers and ever since wondered, what's up with him? He always has that buzz cut. Always dressed very "butch." I have wondered if he is gay, which is cool, if he is. Have never heard of him being married or dating. Maybe he just wants to keep all that private. Is his name Larry Mullen, or what?

The new album rocks! U2 have made some essential albums for any good music collection...Joshua Tree, The Unforgettable Fire, Achtung Baby are all 5 star albums in any book. I love their new stuff too. Hopefully they'll bring their 360 Tour out west in the fall so I can finally see them!

Although unmarried, Larry has been with the same woman, Ann Acheson, for a long time. They have three children together, Aaron Elvis (fourteen), Ava (eleven) and Eli (eight). I think you can confidently say that he isn't gay!

Probably the only two five star albums of theirs for me are "Joshua Tree" and "Achtung Baby". Quite a few four star ones, though, including their new one.
