Paul's new album and promotion
-
Kind of interesting: If you look up the Band On The Run CD on Amazon, on the 2010 single-disc edition, it says "in stock June 21, 2018." Just a coincidence, or are they getting fresh stock of this CD in anticipation of the hubbub about his new album sending people back to buy this classic?

I think it's time for a McCartney III album.
I do like the sound of "Come Home To Me", simplistic & catchy. Can't wait for the album version.

It is NOT “Come Home To Me!” I don’t know exactly what the song is called, but he is clearly singing “come on to me.” Plus, listen to the rest of the lyrics and it makes sense.

We will be vindicated on that, Nancy, and it's going to be so sweet!

Another photo clue, posted on Paul's official instagram at 8 a.m. London time...
-
I'm thinking the new clue may indicate that round symbol is not a railroad tunnel at all, but could be the knobs on the photo he posted a few days ago... (see photo below) what appears to be a track could actually be a musical keyboard sideways.... Anyway, just guessing here, lol
Does that mean his new album will be called "Paul McCartney - Volume and Vibrato" ??
But new clue also looks like he could be saying that a new single (or album!) will be released on cassette tape... your guess is as good as mine! lol
-
"Volume and Vibrato," love it!!
I do think it's going to be called something train-related. Fans elsewhere are convinced it's going to be called "McCartney III," but to me that just doesn't fit with all the train imagery, plus the fact that there's an outside producer (not to say he couldn't break the rules on that, since the third Fireman album was a totally different concept from the first two).
Fascinating observation about the train ticket looking kind of like a cassette tape. I would not be surprised to see some cassette tie-in to all of this. He's already done it with the Flowers In The Dirt demos. I do think those symbols represent train tracks going into a tunnel, but it's not totally clear. Anyway, the font used for his name on the ticket has been used on many of his albums before (London Town, Flaming Pie, etc.).
But yeah, there's plenty of vibrato in Paul's voice these days!!

Definitely a train theme! And check out the conductor with a mustache and his hands on the wheel at the bottom, upside down. It's close now!

"If you come on to me, well I'll come on to you." Plain as day.

Could be far sooner. When he tweeted out words that were preceded with “New” his single dropped the next day. The album followed less than two months later. On that time frame, single today or tomorrow with an album in August.
I doubt the album would come out in August when a lot of folk are on their holidays. The summer months are generally avoided by most major artists where new albums are concerned. I can't think of a single album by Paul / Wings / Beatles that was released in August. July isn't a very good time either for similar reasons. The very earliest would be September, perhaps to create some distance between the new album and the Beatles 50th anniversary White album release in November but personally I would still go with October. It would be nice to be proved wrong though and have a release in the coming couple of months.
I don’t doubt it, but it seems to make little sense to ramp up promotion now for an album 4 months away.
Agreed. Why would he appear at a secret gig in Liverpool and start posting all these teasers on Facebook in the same week if something were not imminent? I think a new album will be announced very soon along with some new tour dates.

From Ultimate Classic Rock: Could this be Paul McCartney's new album cover? They say the new song played is "Come Home To Me". I guess we'll find out soon.

Yes, definitely a train theme... to me it looks like title could be "(Something ending in T) Station.... Paul McCartney" We should know soon!

Someone on Instagram was guessing "Egypt Station" because that's the name of one of Paul's art works. And the guessing is fun, lol.

Randy, do you know how to make your links clickable? (Or can someone please do it for him? My iPad is not cooperating copying and pasting)
There is also a YouTube video he posted that needs to be made clickable. Thanks.

My guess is that the title will be based on a quote from a Robert Lowell poem:
If We See Light At The End Of The Tunnel, It Is The Light Of The Oncoming Train.
-
Latest clue posted.. looks more and more like "Egypt Station"

This is a slow train coming. Hope there isn't blood on the tracks. Oh, hang on - wrong forum

Egypt Station was the site of a battle in the Civil War, in Mississippi, one in which many Confederate soldiers fought on the Union side. It was also one of the few battles in which cannons were shot off of a train!
Photo of the historical marker here, but it won't let me post the image: https://www.hmdb.org/PhotoFullSize.asp?PhotoID=396215

Cool! Thanks for sharing that. I was a Civil War reenactor for several years, and love history, so this is interesting! Wonder if Paul read about this somewhere, and that's where he got the idea for the art piece he created, which he named Egypt Station... and now, the name is connected with his new album. Very interesting!
