Just to clarify - there isn't a separate chart for England; it was #1 in Britain.
aye you tell em! Even though i'm from English it bugs me when people saying England when it's the UK. I'm British
Oh and i wish this thread didn't turn into another set list moan. We all get the point. But we know these mini gigs are to shove the new songs in with the usual. Judge it more on the tour.
And i saw in some pics Julia Lennon is there
Good to know. I remember reading that in his 1999 one she had to fight to be allowed to see Paul as the staff didn't believe who she was Doesn't she part own it all now? I'm sure i remember that she put money in.
She is Julia Baird now, and yes, she is part owner/manager now, along with, I believe, Jon Keats.
OT, but how is your little boy doing?
hi, oh yes i know she's Baird but i tend to slip of the tongue type of typing and write Lennon!
He's ok thank you for asking (he's having a nap right now!) - we got his brain scan results back recently and they were normal, so so so relieved, so much so that we cried!! He's to have an ultrasound of his neck as the scan did pick up a muscle problem, whether that is linked to his delays we don't know yet. He's 22 months now He still can't walk, and only says Mama Daddy and yes, but has lots of babble and the cheekiest grin. He struggles to stand having very weak legs, but i'm working hard on that and he has physio (they are pretty pushy at me, but it's not my fault and i'm doing my best to get him moving). He finally started crawling last month (only bottom shuffled around up til then), and to get the thread back on track he loves his "Uncle Paul"! Still does his Paul dance when asked what does uncle Paul do! Points to his Paul book i made him when you ask where he is, and, he got to see him yesterday for the first time as we went to Liverpool to watch Paul leave the facebook thing. Managed to get a movie of Paul that then pans round to show our little boy watching, so when he grows up he can at least see that and think that he got to see Paul - they're in the same shot
Sounds a crazy thing to do i know, but meant a lot to me that he's technically seen Paul
That's great so so so happy !!! God Bless You and your son!!!!!!
Good to hear that his scan was good. We all wish the best for him... & his parents!

I can see myself in this photo. My fist is up in the air & if you zoom in on the shirt it’s a very Beatlesque shirt, like the fist up by itself in the 3rd row

I apologize if I offended anyone else with my "#1 in the US and England. I have always lived in the US and have never lived (and even visited) Great Britain. I'm not familiar with the fact that technically the music charts in your country should be referred as the "Britain or British" Charts. But that wasn't the point (not by a million miles) of my post. It was all about the fact that Paul keeps singing the same songs. Paul is my favorite artist of all time but I have to be critical over the fact that he totally skips (from 1977 to like 2013). During all those years he has written many great songs. His recent tours have been great for the casual Beatle music fans, 1st or 2nd timers but not for hard core fans like me. I have seen Paul in concert about 12 times but when he came to Tampa in 2017 (my backyard) I declined. I was tired of hearing the same songs over and over again.
As far as the "set list moan" subject, I hate to disappoint serious Macca fans with this new so called"Freshen Up" tour. After seeing the entire Liverpool setlist, the only truly "Freshen Up" part of this tour will be the new "Egypt Station" songs. I hope I'm wrong but my suspician is that he will just trot out previous Beatle/Wings songs (Solo Wings songs from 1970 to 1976) he did prior to the "One on One" and "Out There" tours.
My prediction is that we won't get any songs from the late 70's to 2017. That is like 40 years! If I'm proven wrong, I will gladly apologize and admit I was wrong. Who wants to hear songs like Lady Madonna, Let Me Roll It, Birthday etc. for the millionth time. And including a 3rd tier Beatle song like "I Wanna Be Your Man" over great Solo songs like Beautiful Night or Put It There just baffles me. Unfortunately he plays "I Wanna Be Your Man" and a few classic Blues/Rock songs (like Midnight Special) because they can do them in their sleep. No preparation or rehearsal needed on those.
I can understand why he has to play certain "signature songs" (Hey Jude, Let It Be, Yesterday, Blackbird, Band on the Run, Maybe I'm Amazed, Live and Let Die and a few others) but he has so many additional spots in the Setlist for truly terrific Solo songs that he has only played on one tour . He even has some great songs he has never played before like "Take It Away" or "Wanderlust". Unfortunately, I don't think there is a chance you will get any of them on this tour. Because this is a different Band (and even though a very good) that would take some practice and rehearsal time. It is obvious that Paul is unwilling to do that. The fact that he is 76 I would certainly give him a pass if he only did 3 or 4 top notch Solo songs from this 40 year stretch but he won't even do that.
Where are his kids? It doesn't seem that even his adult kids know his Solo Catalog as well as we do. You would think that any one of them would say something like this...Dad why don't you add this song that haven't done in a long time (take you pick from Tug of War, Flowers in the Dirt, Chaos, Driving Rain, Memory Almost Full etc.)
Sorry for my rant.

Guys, we have a dedicated set list thread.
can anyone shed light as to the new Egypt Station songs?

Good point Macca84. I will refrain from discussing the set list on these "Show" threads. But it is relevant to the future "big show" setlists we'll probably be getting based on the "secret gigs" so far. If there was any time to try or test out some very good Solo songs (long neglected for sure) these small, intimate type shows are definitely it. I would understand if he wanted to only try a few of the faster, up tempo Solo ones but there is nothing here that shows a true "freshening up the Setlist"theme to me. It is telling me that the new tour will only be "freshened up" with Egypt Station songs and maybe a few Beatle/Wings songs revisited from tours prior to One on One and Out There tours. Not a "refreshened" tour to this hard core Macca fan. But in the future, I will keep my thoughts about this subject on the "Setlist" thread.

Yeah with a thread dedicated to the setlist it would make sense to post your opinion on that thread, Right? There you can find like minded people or people who don't agree for debate, but that's why they are going to the setlist thread. I'm tired of hearing about it. Since it is what it is lets enjoy these threads talking about the small concerts or on the new tour where he might play etc.. I'm looking for stories or insight into the topic I'm on, Not opinions on whats wrong or what you want to hear or don't want to hear, I'm a hard core MACCA fan and have my favorite setlist but other than me who cares or would agree? IT IS WHAT IT IS! We all have our favorite setlists but since he has followed the same pattern for a while now why expect anything else? Why? Yes... you can hope and who knows.. If your happy or not the setlist thread is the place for that.
So happy for the people that got to see the MAN at the Cavern in Liverpool!
In Spite of All The Danger at the Cavern WOW!!!

Giles Martin was recording the live set so hopefully it won't be too long before we get to hear it. He was at the Cavern to record that too.

Guys! I got a ticket for the Cavern Club!! I got interviewed by 4 different media outlets cause I’m so excited
oh wow congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what time did you start queueing?? that's fantastic!!
I arrived at the Cavern at 8:30 but then a guy said that tickets are at the Echo Arena so I ran from there to the Echo. Never ran so fast in my life
How many people were already there?
I've been told there was queue from 3am (lucky ones with good influences I guess)
There was a decent amount of people there but some people that camped out at the Cavern overnight didn't get in as they didn't make it to the Echo Arena in time. Some people were with families but only some of them got a ticket. It was only 1 per person & you had to have ID, along with the wristband & ticket too

Hey Gordy, thanks for the first hand accounts of the gig and the excitement in the build up to it. From Edinburgh to the Cavern just like Stuart Sutcliffe (actually I'm not sure he ever played with the Beatles at there). Gawn yersel!
