Verified Fan
-
I see that stage as an excuse for an extra buffer between Paul and the audience. It's not like he doesn't make use of it, but it keeps rabid/drunk fans from getting too close to 'the legend'. After all, who's bigger than a Beatle?
When I saw Ringo in 2014 at a small venue with no security barrier in front, he definitely kept his distance from the crowd, although members of his band were obliging with handshakes and hi-fives for those right up against the stage (like me).
Even in the promo shot for the 'Freshen Up' tour, there's an even bigger than usual gap (Japan maybe?). Ain't no stage crashers happening. Period. I saw someone run onstage in Montreal 1989, even though Paul was at the piano on the back riser, and the fan (girl) never got close, he was still a bit unnerved by it.
Since John was murdered, I think Paul will never feel the same about getting close to fans. Never would be like this today:

I always get nervous seeing Paul in crowd situations...even though he has "security around".

That verified fans thing rather looks like a way to make you buy very expensive VIP packages (strangely available without a code)...
They're playing with your nerves. Don't buy the packages, stay calm, and wait for the general sale!

I am seeing a lot of complaints on social media regarding the "verified fan" pre-sale. Here's a good summary on video:

I agree with you. The Edmonton presale yesterday gave very little options for verified fans to buy normal tickets; just packages and AMEX tickets it seemed.
Today, I kept refreshing broswer and boom, verified tickets on the presale came up which went lightning fast. I snagged a couple; got lucky I guess
I have no idea what will be available in the general sale, but I don't have time to follow this all week.

It's unfolding just like I predicted: create hype with VF presale, offer mostly lower rear seats and uppers that cost the same as the best (non-vip) seats ($300+), but hold back on those to make folks think this is the best they will get for this show because - after all - you got a 'special' 'exclusive' code to buy.
Who gets the best seats besides the lucky few on general onsale day and vips? For some venues there's season ticket holders, and corporate and industry insiders, I even heard a rumour TM employees get access to tickets 15 minutes before everyone else.
People who've seen Paull many, many times and didn't get a VF code maybe actually got the better end of the deal, and didn't have to waste their time searching for presale tickets that didn't exist. If they'd been offered through the fan club, like in 2012, it might be a different story.

I never understood why the reaction to the fan club was so negative,I was more than happy to pay for it with the added bonus of a crack at a ticket through the club with relatively little fuss,I’m sure many others here feel the same way and the argument that it was too expansive for the fan club I say for me it wasn’t,I still have the T shirt and picture,it wa just so much easier than this VF nonsense

Yes, this. I'm saying this for years, but just keep calm ineed. Vancouver '16 night 1 I couldn't get a single ticket during the initial sale, then got fantastic seats for the nosebleed price the week of the show. Echo Arena Liverpool '15 I couldn't get rid of my decent floor ticket spares for more than a few tenners. Sydney '17 - first show in 25 years - was a hot selling arena ticket: went over without a ticket and got a decent enough ticket at the door before the show for a fair price. And so on.
They wanna make us believe the demand is insane, and you should pay even more than you already do. I will be sitting it all out, and decide in December which show - shows, depending on setlist - I pick.

They finally let me out of the waiting list for London 02 today to propose...seats at the far end of the venue, and at the very top. Didn't know "verified fans" were supposed to get tickets 150 meters away from the stage and 30 meters above it! . In a word: they just hope we'll buy the shitty seats to be sure to get a ticket. As far as I am concerned, I'll just try to get a "non verified fan" ticket at the general sale. Will probably get a better seat. And if not, I'm sure I'll get a second hand ticket just before the show.
-
Too rights - people freak out and take any junk that is thrown at them. In my experience no gig is ever truly “sold out”. a.) there will be ticket drops between now and December b.) hold your nerve and you will get a ticket (ok perhaps on show day) for a decent price and a decent seat.

YOU'RE KIDDING ME!?!?!?!?
i want to do all 4 shows in canada and i get ONE CODE TO WINNIPEG 3 HOURS past the onsale time. this thread better blow up with all that is happening because i have talked with 20+ MEGA tour fans and no one got a 10am code, most got waiting list!
THIS. DID. NOT. WORK. STOP THIS FAN VERIFED IMMEDIATELY.
I totally agree with you! By any chance do you have an AMEX card? It can be used at 10 am pre-sale.
i do have an amex, geernally those are block off tickets not premium tickets. also can we consolidate these fan verified threads? a united front so to speak. my only hope for canada is the VIP tickets are NOT fan verifed but i called TM twice and they said they were. UK said they were not. i dont know who to beleive and what to expect. all i know is i have one sad code waaaaaay after presale for 1 show while this happened friday. fan verified doesnt work, TM is tied in with stub hub. its a joke.
over 500 tickets on stub hub and the alike for Edmonton on FRIDAY!!!!!!
Oh. What a freaking mess! Also, the sale times are BST, so what time zone you are in will determine what perhaps crazy time in the morning you have to get up (or stay up late) if you want to try at 10 am.
P.S. I wrote to one of the Mods about merging this thread with the Ticket questions thread.
Quoting myself to say I was thinking the U.K. tickets were going on sale today too.
ehwalled, did you get VIP tickets?
i did, vip packages were not "coded" so i was able to get the goods required. there only thing i can think about with this FV code is it is similar to the old pm/.com codes for pre-registered fans. but the difereance is you registered, you got a code. very few people i know got a code, esspeically the frequent fliers. seemed like pals in Peg that never attend concerts got a 10am code. i dont know a single person that got multiple Canada codes. for the UK i got codes for mutilple cities but it was the same code and you could only use it once. the whole thing was odd, confusing, against fans in gerneal and quite unfair imo. but this is the world we live in where the almighty dollar rules and fans suffer because of it.
cheers,

Good to hear you got what you wanted! If he comes to Atlanta (by some miracle) I will go for Gold VIP which is a good seat and merchandise and costs nearly half the Hot Sound Package here. The dinner and soundcheck is just not worth another $750!

I gotta say, I hate the way Ticketmaster does their business. To get McCartney tickets you’ve gotta register for pre-sale. So I do, I register. Then I get an email a day or 2 later saying that I’m on the “waitlist”, and “should more tickets become available, registrants will be randomly selected and notified via text message”. Which is already a buncha BS.
It gets worse: I then go to StubHub and they’ve already got nearly 2,000 tickets available!
So Ticketmaster does it this way, they say, to keep bots from buying tickets so the real fans can. Well guess what, it’s NOT WORKING! I’m as big a Macca fan as anyone, been a mega fan for 45 (or more) years, but I might have to restort to paying ridiculous amounts of money to get nosebleed seats! I had/have plans to take my 9 year old son, who LOVES all Paul and the Beatles, to his first concert in Fort Wayne. It would be a very special, once in a lifetime experience that we’d share together that he would NEVER forget for the rest of his life. Hope these a-holes don’t blow it for us. It shouldn’t be this difficult. It’ll be crushing if it doesn’t work out

I just called the toll free number to get tickets on the PNC Arena Raleigh website, and had to go through an automated voice but I bought and paid for a ticket right on the spot. Why didn't you do that? There wasn't anything on there about "you have to register for pre-sale" and I think I got the ticket through ticketmaster (?). Unless it was directly from PNC Arena but I thought it was from ticketmaster. It cost $250 plus "service charge" to total $293, and it's on the ground floor. I'm still anxiously waiting for it in the snail mail, to arrive. I'm sorry you're having a hard time and hope you and your son get to see him.

This is nothing new - it's been this way for years.
Will it change? Not anytime soon.

I tried that, but I was told I had to have an American Express card to buy over the phone.

Did anyone get the verified fan code? (I got waitlist.). If so, what was your experience in terms of tickets available. Were The VIP packages available? And, finally, did anyone who purchased the laminate get a presale code? Thanks - I’ve been buying tickets to Paul’s concerts since 2002 and this is the most confusing sale I’ve seen - so far.

Yes, this is a repost since my original post was deleted. Are we not allowed to bash TicketMaster here?

I totally agree with you! This “Verified Fan” thing is BS! Just do a pm.com presale with a code available to everyone (but get the damn thing to work at 10 am and not 4-5 hours late!)
