When it comes tour names as we saw with 'Freshen up' it's probably best not to take them at face value. Anyway with opening song it would be the perfect opportunity for Paul to dust off early Beatle gems ' I wanna hold your hand' or 'She loves you' or even 'Please please me '
Actually, I would love Paul to be bold and open with new song like he did many years ago (1989- "Figure Of Eight") and play "Find My Way" . Not going to happen (lol) so we will all see soon what old Beatle number he can "dust off".
McCartney III is such a strong and fresh album. I wish he'd play most of it. Plus some tracks have nice long jams.
Could you imagine Sir Paul starting off with, "Long Tailed Winter Bird"?
I can.
A real toe tapper /intro. The baby boomers can rush to seats with overlfowing $20 beers over other people's lap as they stumble to thier seats. Then, right into Find My Way. Later coming back to Slidin', Kiss of Venus, Deep Deep feeling and Seize the Day. Heck, give me the whole album. I'd pay full ticket price just to hear Macca and the band play McCartney III in its entirely.
He should play some clubs with just the solo album alone.
Last tour, along with a couple newer renditions of older songs, the Egypt Station performances seemed to be the most inspired and energetic. Plus great live brass band.
Myself and a few others would love it but we know it would not happen. This type of thing might have had a chance 20-30 years ago but not now when he will turn 80 in June. Like I have said in earlier posts on this thread, I expect three songs at the least from "McCartney III" and would be surprised if he did not play "Find My Way" or "Slidin". I am sure his band is tired of playing the same old Beatle songs again and love playing the new songs from his current albums. That being said, the band probably gets paid fairly well and they obviously get along with each other. Like you, I really love it when he has a live horn section.
I think you're probably right YankeeFan,
Hopefully they push it more. I think Slidin' may have been the only track to have the whole band on record.
Long Tailed Winter Bird - would be striking as a first or second opener.
Also, whille I'm stoked to hear anything off Mccartney II as well, since he gave us Temporary Secretary for a few tours, ( we assume he revived that one as it became a popular remixed dance track several years ago). It would be nice if he rotated that out for like anything, Coming Up, or even Check My Machine would be dope!
And despte my handle, I could do without Bogey Wobble, but how about Bogey Music? I think most tracks off that album would be OK on his vocal cords.
And BTW, my user image is not Angela Lansburry, but Sir Paul circa 2002 Driving Rain tour!?!
I totally agree that doing "Long Tailed Bird" would be so cool as an opener. Unfortunately, this is not 1989 when Paul opened show with new song (Figure Of Eight) from his current album at that time (FITD).
Sadly for you, I truly doubt you will hear anything from "McCartney II". My guess which is as good as anybody else (ha ha) is three songs from "McCartney III" and maybe one Beatle song he has never done which might be the opener.

'Coming Up' is also one I would like to hear Paul do live, not sure when he actually last played it in a live set. Recently watched via youtube his Medley of Yesterday/Here there and Everywhere and Wanderlust from GMRTBS with some help from Ringo which just showed the quality of his voice circa 1984 .

The last time I remember him playing "Coming Up" live was on the "David Letterman" show when he played on the rooftop of the "Ed Sullivan" theater in NYC, I think that was in 2010. See clip.

Yes, that was was days before the Citi Field performances in '09, my first Macca show, I thought for sure he'd play it there! Looking back through the archives...it appears the last non-Soundcheck performance was in May of 2011 on the Up and Coming Tour in South America.

My fiance and I got tickets to see Paul in Spokane for the tour opener. First time seeing him so we cannot wait! Just wondering if he has ever played "Monkberry Moon Delight?" One of my favourite, most underrated McCartney tune!

No, and it's too late now. His voice now could never handle it. ️

Damn... Still very grateful to be going to the opening show. I always know the setlist before I attend concerts, so going in blind is going to be so exciting.

Enjoy the show. (Said way ahead of time).
Good approach going in blind for the first time. Every song will be a surprise and chance to say YES!!! Inside or some kind of hoooooray!!!

Yeah, this is probably a good time to give that one a rest.

Could not imagine Paul being that "tone deaf" and I don't think it would go over well with the audience. This would be a golden opportunity to play solo song he has never done before to replace it, sadly IMO he will probably just insert another Beatle song.

As long as it's What You're Doing, but Abe would have to hit the high notes for him!

Since Paul started doing Beatle songs that John sang the lead vocal, it really does open up things for adding different Beatle song to replace "Back In The USSR". He could go way back to "Meet The Beatles" and do song he shared lead vocal with John called "It Won't Be Long" which is uptempo and barely 2 minutes. Or as I posted previously, why not do "One After 909" from "Let It Be". It was another song where he shared lead vocal with John and perfect for the band to help him sing it. Maybe, he could finally do something people have always wanted and sing "Rocky Raccoon" in his acoustic part of the show. Song is really easy to sing and I bet the reaction would be great. Finally, "What You're Doing" works for me also.

It seems like it would be a good idea at this time.

PLEASE! No additional Beatles songs. Bring back Mrs Vandebilt. The Ukrainians voted for it during the 2008 tour. Here he performs it for the 1st time in Kiev.

I agree with no additional Beatle songs but we all know Paul -lol. I always thought it was great that the people in Ukraine voted for a Wings song and not Beatle song. This would be golden opportunity for Paul at concert if he did this to honor the people of Ukraine.
