Paul McCartney- New Album for 2023

@yankeefan2 I would love to know what, if anything, is going on with "It's a Wonderful Life." But I have to assume the lack of news means nothing good, at least not soon.

Unfortunately, agree.

I think most people either have music on their phone or like Sirius so they figure why bother. I have older car with CD player and glad it has one, guess I am one of those old people -lol
Still using my old Sony Walkman, bought in 1987. Change of batteries and it works just as good now as when I first bought it. I got sick and tired of putting music in My cell phone.
-
Exactly. It is over 3 years since it was stopped due to COVID and there has been plenty of time to get it back going. Maybe people involved in it went on to other projects and or the money for it ran out. I just wish they would have said something one way or the other. Maybe the songs Paul already wrote can go on BJ's compilation CD, they definitely would be "deep" cuts -lol.

"Why So Blue" and "222" are very minimalist type songs IMO that would not have fit in with the other songs on MAF. That being said, they are excellent songs and I really like them a bunch. "Turned Out" should have been on the "New" original edition and would have been great song following "I Can Bet". "Demon's Dance" does nothing for me, it is ok and nothing special IMO. "Jenny Wren is such a beautiful song and this live version is wonderful. To be honest, I don't remember these "Red Rose Speedway" songs so will try to listen to them sometime in the near future.

Wandy, Agree 100% on Sally G. This is why we need a Leftovers and Rarities Package. So many great hidden Gems that so many Paul and Beatle fans don't know. -

Should songs be on a "rarities" album if they were actually a single from one of his albums? I get that song like "Figure Of Eight" or "Hope of Deliverance are live versions and sound better live but they are not only on the studio album but also live album. I do like the inclusion of several RDR songs because since it was a mostly 50's cover album, it is not that well known to casual fans. I also love those songs because Paul had great backing band (Gilmore, Paige) he was also awesome vocally. If you want a "rarities" from "Paul Is Live Album", why not select "A Fine Day" from the soundcheck at Giant's stadium. While it may not be one of his really great songs, the point of your album is to include things most people have never heard.

"Assuming that Paul is not ready to release a "New" album of brand new material in 2023, I would recommend a "filler" type Album/CD."The problem is that MPL is more concerned with fancy re-issues like "Red Rose Speedway" and do not need a "filler" album. I like your idea but I will say one more time, it might be done when the McCartney estate wants to "empty the vaults" of Paul's music in last attempt to cash in on his career.

I think the 2000-2022 CD (CD1) is more in line with what you want from this type of collection of songs. A bunch of excellent B side singles and couple of good songs written for movie soundtracks. As for the live versions of songs, I am OK with "House of Wax" and "That Was Me" being on this CD because even though they might not be considered a real "deep" cut, they were only done a couple of times live. Capturing one of the rare times, they were performed for an audience makes it pretty cool. In addition, you have some good songs with Paul collaborating with other artists. "Cut Me Some Slack" is the only one that might be remotely known by casual Paul fans. Overall, I would say this is my favorite CD from the ones you have suggested. Not only do I like the quality of the songs the most, but I also think the songs selected really are what a "rarities" CD should be all about.
While I like the quality of songs on CD2, several of them are not what I would consider deep cuts. I believe "Sing The Changes" was a single and it was played on a couple of McCartney tours. If the casual fan is going to know a song from "McCartney III" album, it will probably be "Find My Way" I absolutely love the song but not one I would include in this type of collection.
