New album by Ringo, titled Postcards from Paradise
-
I must be in the minority for liking the quick EP feel of Ringo2012; a mixture of nice originals, remakes and covers. I did a listen through the new album; I liked it. Will need more time with it once I get the physical cd. The ONE thing that bugs me - take it for what it is from my perspective - is the cheese-y female vocals on Rory and the Hurricanes. Apart from that I love the middle 8/breakdown melody in the song.

Oh no dude, I'm with you. I enjoyed Ringo 2012 too. One of my personal favourite songs from Ringo is on that album. The only problem for me was it was too short. As for Rory and Hurricanes, eh, I'm not too fussy about the female vocals. I'm too busy either singing along or loving that drum solo!

I think because I left behind Ringo after Choose Love I found that Ringo2012 was just right for me to get back into his albums. I was quick to judge after Choose Love because I was, for whatever reason, growing tired of the Mark Hudson Beatle'd sound. Ironically I'm slowing revisited that album in pieces and it's sounding great 10 years later. I'm still haven't bought Liverpool8 nor YNot. Perhaps I should give those a chance but nothing at the time hooked me into those two releases.

Liverpool 8 is an OK album. Few good tracks here and there. As for Y Not... I consider that to be one of Ringo's best albums. It's certainly one of my favourites. Y Not, I would definitely recommend. Liverpool 8, maybe

I am really impressed with this album. I just finished listening to it. Love "Rory And The Hurricanes". What a GREAT opening track. The "WoW!" factor is definitely there on that one. Excellent musicianship throughout the album and some wonderful guitar solos. Ringo's drumming is top notch as always and his voice is spot on. I would say this is one of his better efforts ranking near his best.

I'm going to wait for my CD to arrive before listening. I know I could download and listen from Amazon now, but when I buy a CD, I want my first listen to be from the CD, at full quality. I know: too picky! By the way, did anyone here actually go to a store and buy it? I'm increasingly skeptical that stores will have a new release I might want, unless it's from a really big-selling act. I'm wondering about his "Conan" appearance tomorrow night, because there's also a band called Waters booked for that night. Does this mean that Ringo won't actually play on the show? http://teamcoco.com/schedule/2015-03-30/wednesday/ringo-starr

Yes, I did. Bought it at HMV in Edmonton. They had several copies.

Yes, and elsewhere. They added nothing.

Ringo was absolutely charming on Ellen Today....and looked great!!! He had boundless energy. If anyone tuned in and din't know his age, they never would have guessed he was in his mid 70's!!! Not even close. I had thought he was going to have his band there and perform, but.....didn't. Downer. He and Ellen are neighbors.... He's just so damn likable and adorable!!! Love his accounting of how the Beatles couldn't hear themselves on stage and at various he would look at Paul's head or John's ass on any particular song to sort of guess where they were.... He said...."Oh, that's where we are in this song." Paul would swing his hair this or that way or John would wiggle his ass at a key moment in the song. LOL They would arrive on stage...the screaming would commence....they would go through the motions....and then leave. That's why they decided to just stop! (I knew all this, but it was funny to see and hear him describe it all. He has personality plus!!!! The audience loved him. I SO wish he had performed.

Just watched it myself. Yes, he was charming and funny. And he's a better dancer than Paul.

Yes, you should. There are some great moments. You'll like them, I assure you!!!

Ringo looked amazing! Tanned, trim, relaxed...happy as buggery. Still making music for us. What a life!

Yes, isn't he!! He has the moves....I thought that his sort of swaying from one foot to the other on stage when he performs sort of indicated he really could not dance whatsoever; couldn't feel the music. Wrong. He DID/DOES have the moves. He should do that on stage! (I know you haven't listened to the album...you indicated you wanted to wait and hear the CD....don't blame you. I could not resist. I have to say....for me....it's a strong album. His band is terrific. The songs just flow together very nicely and I could not resist taking the dance floor myself!!! Some very nice guitar interplay with Ringo's drumming!!)

I'm guessing he won't be performing on "Conan" either, since there's a band also on the show that night. Ringo did perform on the show in 2012, however.

Pretty odd when you think about it, since Ringo's got something to promote. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that he'll be performing on Conan. Can't remember where I read it, so... fingers and such crossed

Really liking the song "Bridges". Good lyrics, too. Joe Walsh and Ringo always seem to work well together. The song just before Bridges, "You Bring The Party Down" is also growing on me. Initially I wasn't fond of it upon first listen. But I have listened to it a few more times now and it is quite a good track. And "Let Love Lead" has a late 70's/early 80's new wave feel (reminds me of something that The Romantics might have done) and is an excellent closing track with some killer guitar.

In Lewisohn's book he mentions Ringo's dancing a few times and states he was very well known for it in the pre Beatles days. And the gals knew it too...Richy had the moves!
