New album by Ringo, titled Postcards from Paradise
-
this is easily Ringo's best album since The White Album.

Well, I dunno if I can call it the best, not with Y Not and Ringo out there, but it's certainly up there

I consider "Ringo Rama" his best 2000's album. It kind of took me by surprise when it came out. There was the Christams album in 1999 and two other studio albums in the 90s. Sine then he's been quite productive, I don't think these albums are very different from each other. It's Ringo making Ringo records. Maybe I prefer "Postcards From Paradise" and "Liverpool 8" to the others, but...

I agree on the Ringorama comment. His best 2000's album. I like it better than Driving Rain as a matter of fact
-
Yes I think I can join it. I like "Driving Rain" but it may not be his most accomplished album. The only thing I might criticize "Ringo Rama" for is the bombastic production. But that was the period with Mark Hudson and Ringo in the producer chairs. All the albums between "Vertical Man" and "Liverpool 8" are very LOUD.

Yes, but both songs and instrumentation are super cool and that helps.
-
Both songs? You mean the title tracks from those two mentioned albums? "Liverpool 8" is much of a favorite but I'm not sure I've paid a lot of attention to "Vertical Man". it's not my most played Ringo album, but I'm in a Ringo Fever nowadays, so... I played "Ringo's Rotogravure" again today, and it's a good album to my ears. I really wish they could give all of his early albums the Deluxe treatment. It's screaming for a remaster, it's a bit murky and I think the instrumnentation would pay off with a remaster. You'd hear the different instruments better. At least.. I'd love to hear it!
-
I feel really outnumbered here... I still dislike Rotogravure........... Help, I need somebody. Help, not just anybody.
-
I can't understand why you think "Ringo's Rotogravure" is so lame, especially if you like the previous two that somehow is in the same street, at least in my opinion... but I "respect it".

I'm a simple man. I don't really care how intricate or simple the recording style is, or what the background behind the album is. Enjoyable music is what matters most to me. I'm just out for music that will give me a good time. Stuff I can have fun with.... And Rotogravure just doesn't provide much for me. It has a couple of good songs. Cookin' in the Kitchen of Love, Cryin', This Be Called a Song, maybe You Don't Know Me at All... there are some good bits... But to me, they can't compare to Ringo, or Vertical Man, or Time Takes Time, or Ringo Rama, Choose Love, or Y Not, or even Postcards. I can't really call it the worst album ever made. There's probably worse out there... but it's certainly my least favourite Ringo album. It has a few good songs here and there but, for me, Rotogravure and Bad Boy really don't do much for me.

BOTH SONGS and INSTRUMENTATION. Thank you.

Good! Just what I needed to understand = to be able to read it without glasses.

I rather liked Rotogravure, but haven't listened to it in ages. After my rather traumatic experience revisiting Ringo the 4th, I'm a bit scared to, frankly. But I'm still enjoying Postcards from Paradise. Hey, isn't Postcards supposed to be the subject of this thread?

Yeah, Postcards is meant to be the main focus. Gotta love tangents! And listening to the 4th was traumatic for you? It's like me with Hey Baby and Wrack my Brain

Oh indeed they do . I dislike Wrack My Brain, merely because I just don't like how the music sounds. I can't call it the worst thing ever though. I can think of a Beatles song or two that's worse... There are better George compositions out there, and certainly much better Ringo songs out there. Hey Baby on the other hand... Oh how I have hated that song for the past 17 or so years, pretty much since the 5 year old me first heard the song. It started out as a very irritating girls song that I heard a zillion times on the radio. I just grew to despise it. Then I discovered, about 12 years later, that our dear friend Richie Starkey had recorded a cover about 40 years ago. If only that changed my opinion on it... Wrack My Brain, I'm able to cut some slack. Hey Baby, I cannot. I'd go so far as to call it my least favourite Ringo song.

It is "Richy." Thangyaverymuch...

Yes, if we trust the research of Mark Lewisohn, which is quite convincing.

I have a postcard sent to his mum, from 1963. It is Richy.
