New digital-only release coming up?
-
Look here: http://www.examiner.com/article/report-emi-to-release-digital-only-compilation-to-counter-beatles-bootlegs Perhaps, like I suggested in my Copyright question, to avoid tracks going out of copyright, as Sony does for Dylan?
-
Wow, this is cool! "Bad To Me" and "I'm In Love" demos finally seeing the official light of day? I wonder what the price will be: if it's over $50 that will not make me happy. Somewhere around $30 would be fair, I think. You may be right about the copyright issue.
-
Yes, looks pretty clear that it's happening, and that it's a copyright issue. The tracks may not be up there long, though, according to this. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/12/12/arts/music/european-copyright-laws-lead-to-rare-music-releases.html

But aside from the two demos ("Bad To Me" and "I 'm In Love") is there anything on the bootleg that is not already on the two Live albums? (Maybe "I'll Get You') How many versions of the same song does one need? And why would anyone want several takes of the same song on one album? I'm not sure what the benefit of this issuance is? Maybe completists want it all, but who else??? :

Well, I'm a completist, haha, so I couldn't tell you! Assuming these are all from the original tapes, this is going to be a treat for me.

that's awesome! only thing that makes me sad is if its a digital only release, I cant have a disk to add to my collection that might make me a little sad but I think I can get over it. maybe if I get iTunes cards for Christmas, they will be spent well on this ( as long as its not around 50$ for the thing or anything, Id prefer to buy Help! and maybe a couple of educational apps)

Well, you can purchase (or pick and choose which songs you want) and download it and then burn your own CD. It won't have artwork, liner notes, etc. But I doubt this bootleg has any of that anyway.

On the "Live at The BBC" album, the BBC person states..."Here's Paul singing "Lucille" in a tribute to the Everlys. Or words to that effect. The Everly Brothers didn't write Lucille". Surely he meant Little Richard, didn't he???? :

The notes say that was because the Everlys were on the same show that day, and they had had a hit with that song (not that I've ever heard their version!).

The intro sounds like Pretty Woman. Ha ha ha.Paul definitely didn't follow their template! Not bad, though.

The intro sounds like Pretty Woman. Ha ha ha.Thanks.!!! If all else fails, read the instructions...or in this case, the liner notes! I shoulda' done that!!! ops: : Speaking of The Everly Brothers...and Roy Orbison (Pretty Woman), I once toured the studio in Nashville where they both recorded all their songs!! Gave me the chills. I can only imagine how it might feel to do the same at Abbey Road!!!

At the risk of boasting, I have been in Abbey Road Studios, including the famous Studio 2. (I won a competition as part of the Flaming Pie promotion). I won't say it was "surreal" (because that is a word used too much) but let's just say it was eerie and immensely exciting. A major, major highlight in my life. It was all a bit of a blur. Maybe there was still the residual whiff of Mary Jane in the air playing with my senses.

Nice! Well, at least I now know people who've been inside. I only got to the front doorstep of the building!

Once when I was in London on assignment, I walked down Savile Row where Apple Records once was. Looked up at that rooftop where The Beatles last concert had been, looked at that front door where they went in and out in the "Let It Be" movie...where all the "Apple Scruffs" had hung out. The building was still unoccupied...following The Beatles breakup/departure. There were all these messages written on the door....pleading the group to get back together, etc. That was pretty cool. Shoulda' done the Abbey Road crossing too, but didn't...for whatever reason. :
