SO looking forward to the 22nd. I will be in The Little Theatre in Bath UK which so far has only sold 7 (yes seven) tickets!!!! You can tell he seems more popular in the US than in the UK............why is that?
1. Well the British press has been insulting Wings for 40 years. "The band the Beatles could have been" is a well known line in the UK and it's been repeated endlessly there. So it's not like young people are at all encouraged to think Rockshow would be cool (in the way that the rock press encourages young people to think any stupid thing Bowie did, no matter how lame, is cool). 2. Probably because you folks are still beating Paul up over a weak 5-minute performance from nearly a year ago. Oddly Elton's performance at the Jubilee was rough and no one seems to beat him up about that. And Rod Stewart gave a lousy performance on Remembrance Day a few months back and no one in the UK seems to hold that against Rod. No one seems to mind that Rod has 8 kids from 5 wives or that he is the definition of sleazy and smarmy -- and a complete sell out musically who wasted his talent for 35 years. Yet he's popular in the UK. It's bizarre. 3. Because Rockshow is a movie about a concert in America, so naturally American audiences who actually went to the concert would want to experience it again. 4. Because there was next to no promotion of Rockshow going into theaters in any British papers. The media interest in Wings is as low as ever.. I suppose it's sad, but he's getting lots of love from the rest of the world.

IMO, US screenings may be doing slightly better than overseas, just because Paul's US tour starts tomorrow, and there's a lot of hype and excitement built up around that, which spilled over into this re-release.... just a theory.

Huge disappointment in the American South. Despite the fact that he has included Atlanta in numerous tours over the years, not one showing of Rock Show there or anywhere else in Georgia and only one in the Carolinas, the little town of Hendersonville that was too far for me to go. Guess I will wait for the DVD......

Saw the movie last night with a group of friends and we had a blast!!!! Almost as good as being at a real concert, but not quite! Such a treat to see this on the big screen!!!! What an awesome concert!!!! How I wish I could have seen Wings in 1976, but I was only 11 and about a year or so away from becoming a fan. My father had purchased Wings at the Speed of Sound around that time, so the seeds were planted!! Thanks Paul!!!!

Where did you go to see it? Bolingbrook? I'm gonna try to make it to a showing on the 19th. Thanks for the great review!
Yeah. That was it. Comfortable venue. I would be going again on the 19th if I didn't already have plans. Go for it!

Oh you are so right!!! I think he has always had a bigger following in the US, that's why he tours there so much.....and why wouldn't he! bigger bucks Also, he has overdone it in this country in the last couple of years and the public here have turned against him. Rod and Elton keep a relatively low profile hence when they do come out "to play" it's a news story. To be fair last week one of the biggest Sunday papers did a huge spread/story about Rockshow and Wings. Still I am astonished that only 7 tickets have been sold in the Bath area!

There were a grand total of 12 of us in the cinema last night. I went with a friend and he and I both loved it! Not sure about the other ten people.
-
I saw no promotion in my area at all, even though it was showing in several theaters. But a friend of mine said the theater he went to was really small (as you'd expect) but full -- maybe 60 people? It was all word of mouth and people who heard about it on Paul's Web site. That's OK, though. Not like it was going to be a blockbuster!

Seems like this got promoted well in some places and not at all in others. I've seen some fun comments on Twitter about people going to see Rockshow tonight. Lots of enthusiasm. And apparently there's a theater somewhere in New Jersey that's "packed" according to one very excited Wings fan on Twitter.
I saw it last night, in a theater in New Jersey that was pretty "packed". Maybe it was this one?? It played in one of the larger houses at the local multiplex, and I was surprised that so many people were there! I even saw a few fans wearing Wings t-shirts. I had an awesome time. The crowd really got into it, and a few people burst into spontaneous applause after Jimmy's song "Medicine Jar". After that, most of us clapped and "woo-hoo'd" after almost every song. Amazingly enough, Denny's songs got the biggest response. Watching "Rockshow" again made me wish I had been able to see Wings back in '76. Although I've been to every Paul tour since 1989, I'm still an unabashed Wings fan. You Beatles fans will never understand...

Went to see ROCKSHOW last night at the Warner Quad in the sleepy little town of Ridgewood New Jersey. They didn't have so much as a poster up promoting the show, and their Marquee was devoted to wishing somebody Happy Birthday. I was figuring we'd be the only fans attending. I was wrong! The theater was 75% full of very excited Macca fans. That's the good news. The bad news is... the movie would stop playing a lot, and the only sound came from the front channels below the screen. All the background vocals were missing from the 5.1 mix and we could hear the crashing and blasting of other movie soundtracks on either side of us playing throughout the show. When the movie stopped playing again during "Maybe I'm Amazed" there was a near mutiny. The projection room was empty so a posse of us Mac faithful went in search of the theater manager. We were told that all they received was a DVD to play... and if there was no surround sound... well it wasn't their fault, that's what they were sent. He offered us free passes and we went back to watch the rest of show. You know what? It was still fun. We were touched by a gorgeous rendition of "Yesterday" and watching Paul sing "My Love" to Linda was both sad and uplifting. Looking back, she really did do a nice job with all those keyboard parts, and the horn section was lovely. It was weird to see "Live And Let Die" performed in the middle of the show... we're all so used to it being the grand finale. And that voice. That had to be Paul's absolute vocal peak. Even with lousy sound and distractions... we were still glad we went. When you think about it.... it's probably the last chance there will ever be to see ROCKSHOW on a the big screen, and I was there. Brian

So great to finally see Rockshow!! I'm visiting with Boycie and orginally had plans to see the Royal Philharmonic at the Royal Albert Hall on the 15th, so we were both quite sad when we heard that Rockshow would be playing nearby on the 15th. Luckily for us, it was playing in a local smaller theater on the 16th as well, so we were elated. We made "ROCKSHOW" t-shirts, which we wore to the local show... it was a great surprise for me, as I've seen only a couple of isolated videos from the bootleg version. We really enjoyed the show, sitting in the comfy theater with the big screen and surround sound! Just GREAT!! There were about 18 people in the cinema, not surprising with the larger showing at Cine World the night before. When Venus and Mars started, I got chills, and it was thoroughly enjoyable throughout! Hearing songs like You Gave Me the Answer and Call Me Back Again, Maybe I'm Amazed, Magneto and Titanium Man, Medicine Jar, they were all so enjoyable!!! Really liked that Paul mentioned the horn section, in the introduction we enjoyed it alot too!!! Had quite a few laughs during the show. Paul is so funny It was so great to see Linda performing as well.. Miss Linda.... She was great!!! Can't wait to get the Blue Ray DVD!! Thanks to Paul for making the remaster of this one!!

't was great! 5.1 mix disappointing (where are the backing vocals), but nice to see the gig in full at the theatre. Second half the major highlight for me, once the Beatles-obligations are over, it's bang-bang-bang-bang-bang with 'Silly Love Songs' into 'Beware My Love' into 'Letting Go' into 'Band On The Run' into 'Hi Hi Hi' and the slam-dunk 'Soily'. What an encore!
-
"The band the Beatles could have been" Wasn't that supposed to be a compliment? I always thought it was!

Now that's what I call an encore! Think it would work now?

In 1976, audiences were going to hear and see British pop star that had numerous solo albums and Wings albums, and was promoting hit records and songs. He had something to prove, and did it. I was there in 1976 in Denver, and the audience was not expecting a Beatles-heavy re-living of their past. That is why he could play HI HI HI and SOILY for encores. In 2013, it is quite the opposite. People attending McCartney shows expect a Beatles review and have little interest in his current or even recent or semi recent musical output. It would be interesting to know this Fall, of the 15,000 people in an arena, or 40,000 in a stadium, the percentage of people who will have bought Paul's new CD or listened to new songs by him.

True. When I saw him in 76... I, of course, knew he was a Beatle but went there because he was a Wing!
