That was expected unfortunately, more important was how good was his vocals.
-
IMO he was in a good mood but he had here and there the typical critical passages we already knew. The worst thing was that there wasn't no hope of deliverance or something special a local newspaper did wrote before the gig.... There are tons of pictures and videos I've to check tomorrow on train back home.

It boggles the mind that Paul McCartney continually avoids performing "Hope Of Deliverance" in the country where it was the biggest hit.

It's just nuts. They all know it. His voice could handle it. It was a massive hit. It would shake up a quite stale setlist. It just does not make any sense.

I get the feeling that at this stage that Paul just turns up and plays without going through the catalogue at a particular place and changing up the set for facts like yuosaid with Hope being big in Germany. Having said that didnt he play the song in South America a place where it was a big hit also?

He played it at South America back in 2013, as well one or two U.S. dates of the Out There Tour. I think there were a couple 2012 performances, too. But none in Germany? Makes no sense.

Dear all, yesterday was my 30th concert since 1989 and I have been accompanied by a friend who normally hears 70 years hardrock and who is quite focused on voices. He was at 3 Macca concerts during the yrs with me. He is not a fan at all and normally quite critical to him. He agrees that his voice was very good and fantastic for his age. After hearing all comments and listening youtube clips....we can imo relax and all future pre worried concert goers please have fun and do look fwd to it. All the comparisons to late Elvis...concerns reg legacy etc....sorry imo totally nonsense. Please dont get me wrong I dont want to argue just reliefing worries of people who will see him soon. Will dbl Check in Paris tomorrow. He was f a n t a s t i c......Bravo!

Wonderfull gig once again. I have been eased with his voice after a few songs. Perhaps a little bit difficult with Here There And Everywhere or The Fool On The Hill. But overall , it sounded well. Uncredible for someone who will be 74 in 3 weeks.

Thanks for the information. I saw 2 shows on this tour and I agree with you.

______________________________________________________ Audi and Robert, Couldn't agree with you guys more. The total setlist (and lack of changes) is the main reason that I will not go to this tour when it hits the USA (Northeast shows). I have family in both Philadelphia and Boston but I have seen Paul about 10 times. I've loved his shows (between 2002 and 2011) because he had numerous changes and lots of songs I had never heard from the previous shows (Beatles and Wings) Problem is that now he is just reshuffling. Another disappointment is that his concerts show no creativity. As Audi says about Hope of Deliverance..."it boggles the mind" that he wouldn't play it the song where it was a big hit. (Germany). It just seems that he just flies into the city of the show (independent of the band) and sings and plays the same songs by rote. You would think he would get tired of it (let alone his Band) As we've all said, it good for the 1st timers and I'm happy for them. I guess that people like us (hardcore fans0 who have seen him multiple times and "still" go to the shows must have lots of discretionary money. I'm retired so I have to be careful how I spend it. Yes, I would make it happen if there was more incentive but there just isn't.

"It just seems that he just flies into the city of the show (independent of the band) and sings and plays the same songs by rote. You would think he would get tired of it (let alone his Band) " IMO - it is all about money and ego. He rakes in the big time cash and knows full well the audience will eat up every Beatle song for the most part. His ego seems to need big time applause after almost every song so he will not challenge himself and or his audience. A bunch of us said we fully understand playing the hits but you would think he could play 5-6 different songs he has never played from is solo career which still leaves almost 30 Beatle/Wings songs. As for the band, I am sure they do get bored but it is easy money. I played in a band until my mid 20's and we changed songs we played every night because we knew some people would come to the bar more than one weekend night. Heck, we even threw in a couple of songs we wrote which may have not been the greatest but it mixed the set up with all the cover songs we did nightly.

To be honest, not really a great concert. Not because of Paul but due to the accoustics in the Arena, which was really, really bad... For example, I couldn't hear Rusty's solo during My Valentine, Paul was sometimes unaudible and from time to time it was just a wall of sound of which you couldn't recognise any melody... Never ever gonna attend a concert in this arena again...

One positive comment: the new stage, video's etc. looked great! And by the way, the show lasted only 2 hours and 20 minutes in total, which is much shorter than before. Was this also the case at the first concerts of this tour?
