Paul McCartney 2014 Rumors

Bob Gannon:
I think you may see him reschedule the whole Asian leg if it's bad enough and return in November/December. Of course saying this, that could change the face of anything else they were planning .
If that happens, I guess it would still be possible to do Asia in november and a few shows in Europe in december.

True, Bob. They may already have stuff planned for later in the year.

Heard some crew members caught the flu in Mexico and that it was going around everyone on the tour...

I hope these shows don't turn out to be like the 2012 "postponed" Horsens shows.. I'm sure it's just a little bug he has. It seems he's had the ambition to play the shows which is a good sign because he still has something beating at him. Everyone gets sick. He is 72 but he isn't dying. He could maybe replay the dates on the 30th & 31st. All I'm saying is the likelihood of the Buddakan show not being played is scaring me, I will admit.

My main thought is that I hope McCartney is doing everything he can to get himself well - not necessarily get ready to play concerts. We don't know how serious a virus it is, or even what kind of virus. Macca is the same age as my dad, and at that age a virus can turn from something not serious to something serious pretty easily if the patient doesn't take care of themself to truly get healthy. I had the same thought as Bob once the second show was postponed. I think the Budakon show is a bellweather. if he cannot go for that one on the 21st, that is half of the Asian leg and it might make more sense financially to postpone the whole leg as continuing to move around all the equipment and personnel is not cheap. No longer a rumor: the Japanese shows are not going to happen. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=139730186197408&id=118076515029442&refid=17 Release Statement regarding the remaining Japanese shows A spokesperson for Paul McCartney said: Paul McCartney will regrettably have to cancel the remaining Japanese shows. Paul is still not feeling better and this cancelation is unavoidable. He was hoping to be better but the doctors have ordered him complete rest. Paul has been extremely moved by the messages from his fans and is upset to be letting them down. All possibilities to find a solution to reschedule these shows as soon as possible are being explored. From Paul: I was really looking forward to playing in Japan again after we had such an amazing time here in November. So to cancel these shows as well as the National Stadium shows is hugely disappointing for me as well. I'd like to thank my Japanese fans for their love, messages of support and understanding. I hope to see you all again soon. Love, Paul

This now raises many questions. Will he tour markedly less? Will we see shorter concerts? Will he consider retiring from touring? The chief concern is his health but he will have had time to stop, think and perhaps these questions went through his mind too. Or...is this just a blimp and will it be business as usual?

I believe he will be well very soon.

Yeah. Plus he's far away from home so possible once he gets back to his comfort zone, rests up, he'll get feeling better. Paul's human and it's only a bug. For all we know he could of just got good poisoning or something who knows. I hope he gets better soon!

Well we are being told it's a "virus." Who knows? It could be anything.

Everyone gets sick once in awhile. It just happened to be now for Paul, right before some pretty big gigs. I know sometimes he seems superhuman, but he's a regular guy. Send out positive thoughts to him, he'll be good as new before you know it!
-
Has he been seen leaving the hotel/Japan? I suppose if he is just recovering from a virus, a suite in the Hotel (or wherever he is) in Tokyo isn't a bad place to be.

EXACTLY! All this long term analysis about what his touring is going to be reduced to, due to his health statements is without merit. I agree that dates could get postponed and possibly rescheduled as any performer touring would have. I would be surprised if the South Korea show doesn't goes ahead yet I see why it would make sense to reschedule both countries for the same time.
-
I suppose once one gig went the tour would go as well at any age a virus is hard to fight off and for a man of Paul's years well lets just say he needs to be right on top of it and concentrate on whats the thing for getting him right, rushing back too soon could be the wrong thing to do,of course people will disappointed but there will always be another time to go back and play these gigs in the future all being well, though gut feeling is that it wont be this year mainly because of the American tour and if there are any plans for the last couple of the months of the year.

I say again. Has she flown in to be with Paul?

She was in the states for a Barbara Walters retirement thing...but I would hope she's out there with him now.

I think Paul should reschedule the gigs for Spring 2015, and include Australia and New Zealand as well!

I agree. Logistically it makes sense. Thankyou
