Where is this "determination"? The shows were cancelled almost four months ago. They're goners.

Beyond the illness, something else must have gone wrong with these shows.

They never quite sat right with me. They seemed very rushed from day one. I think Paul's team was trying to turn Japan into the next North/South America and get stops going every 6 months or so as they have before. Just searching for another economy to over-saturate. Yes, that's finally happened. Don't get me wrong I won't stop going, but this is the first summer since '09 where I haven't heard of the constant or instant sell outs.

One of my friends is getting married in late November. I've already told him I will not attend the wedding if Paul comes to SA
Of course! We all have our priorities!

no tip off to when, but I was told that would be making them up. We'll see if it happens down the road. As far as sellouts, that's what happens when you make stops like Mizzoula, Fargo, Lubbock and the like. Nothing wrong with playing those cities, just not going to be easy sell outs that some markets are.
-
I suppose he wants to perform at the venues that were scheduled for May in Asia (such as the Budokan). If so, his team will need to negotiate dates that are convenient for everyone, also taking into consideration the weather and other factors as well. Hopefully they will be able to include Australia this time.

Yeah, I agree, I am not convinced they were all sell outs this year even if they said they were. I think Costa Rica did not sell out. Albany, different attendances were reported, anywhere from 13,500 to 17,000. Which means the former was probably closer to the truth. The Salt Lake City review said a near-sold out arena, and so did a couple of others. Fargo was 18,000, where as the Stones had about 21,000 there, so that was not a sell out. He still made the no. 1 spot on Billboard!

I suspect Albuquerque would be a challenge as well, so no show here. Honestly, for the prices he charges, larger markets just make more sense. He will always do well in Denver, Washington DC or Atlanta, never mind LA and Chicago and NYC. And these are cities he will hit in 2015. Guaranteed.

I don't think his shows need to be 100% sell outs to be considered a success. He's still number 1, anyway. Besides, he's aware of the potential risks of playing in smaller markets and not selling out, and yet he goes to those places anyway, so selling out does not seem to be his highest priority. He has said that he enjoys going to different and unusual places. As long as he gets paid his fee and his manager feels each market will offer suitable working conditions, plus whatever requirements he feels necessary to make the deal, I guess that's good enough for them.

I was surprised that there weren't any 2 nighters. I was really expecting it for Chicago.

That shows money is not his only (or biggest) concern. He chose to do just one show in bigger markets like Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco, and then went to smaller markets so that other fans would have to opportunity to see him. He's still getting paid his fee at each show, but the number of fans at the soundchek would probably be higher if he just did bigger markets, correct?

I think it is always the money.

One comment on the Stones' attendance...they had a different seating configuration and had a partial GA floor, so that may have allowed for more tickets sold (standing more bodies in a place where Paul used fixed seating ). So Stones/Paul may not be a fair comparison as far as total attendance. But Fargodome def did not look empty.

No one is saying Paul McCartney is not a success. Clearly he is one of the most successful musicians in history. But it would seem some markets are getting saturated. That would happen to anyone if they played a market too much. Or too recently.
-
Elvis played the same markets -- medium and large -- over and over and over and over again throughout the 1970s, and he sold out every time.

I think Paul has a different idea of "unusual" than I do. As far as I'm concerned, if Paul is playing anywhere in the States.....it is NOT unusual. I obviously don't want it to stop, but I really wouldn't say he's been living up to his word on that one.
-
In fairness, Paul is not American. Maybe going to North Dakota and Missouri is unusual and exotic to him.
-
Missouri ain't so exotic at the moment.

Mr. Martinez, I am puzzled so little seats are sold for McCartney conerts in the US. You mention 13,000, 18,000 while over here a McCartney concert attendance would go from 45,000 to 60,000. And then people wonder why he comes to South America each year since 2010
