Got tix to see the Stones in San Diego in May! My third time seeing them!
Downtown San Diego is going to be ROCKIN" on Sunday! Enjoy the show!
-
Saw John Barrowman the other night, perhaps not strictly a gig but a fun night nontheless, lots of laughs at his expense so if you're a torchwood/arrow/Doctor Who fan and he's in your area go see him he's well worth the admission money

So onwards to Bryan Ferry at the phil in Liverpool,a stunning night he was on top form his voice was in great form and while he didnt say all thats much it didnt really matter 25 songs all sung if note cd perfect than as close to it as makes no difference. A good selection of songs off the new album Avonmore (its excellent) rounded off with standard Roxy and Ferry standards made for a great night. Ferry has set the bar high for Paul on Thursday night one im sure he'll match or indeed better

Well I've successfully survived four concerts in five days! : I wrote full reviews for macca in philly & VA on their respective threads...amazing as always! In between them I saw John Fogerty's 1969 tour. I was incredibly impressed with Fogerty's voice and guitar playing. They were both better than I expected and it made the evening incredibly worthwhile. I was not so much impressed by his band though. His drummer and keyboardist were both incredibly annoying and distracting. They both give off incredibly cocky attitudes and really aren't all that special...his bassist was the secret weapon of the machine. The other two guitarists (one being his son) were unnecessary. Neither of them contributed anything to the sound that John couldn't or wasn't. The concept between the 1969 tour was also incredibly confusing and disjointed. John himself even pointed out how stupid it was that he got the crowd applauding a year in time. All in all, it was a greatest hits setlist from John Fogerty and he rocked every second of it. I don't think I'll go again, but this was a great experience indeed! Last Friday I had the pleasure of hearing and meeting Felix Cavaliere (Rascals) and Mark Farner (Grand Funk Railroad). Both were incredibly kind and still incredibly talented and entertaining. Mark Farner went on first and delivered an incredibly rockin' hour long set. He had a very tight band and his voice hasn't aged a bit. He played all the hits and more, even some solo music that fit right in. After a quick 15 minute stage swap, Felix Cavaliere got his 90 minute set rolling. The whole set was just kind of like one big song! He effortlessly rolled from "Mustang Sally" to "Groovin" to "Happy" and everywhere in between! His band wasn't much to shake a stick at, but Felix made up for it and then some. He's such a class act and a remarkable story-teller. I wish I could have talked to him longer afterwards...so, so kind! Next up...July 26th: Billy Joel...right here in Baltimore!

U2 at MSG 7/26. Fantastic show. The lights, screens, everything. Unbelievable experience. It could've been longer, though. 23 songs, 2 hrs 15 minutes. Could've done 4-5 more songs. Went to see Art Garfunkel at the liverpool phil the other night and i have to say it was pretty good given his vocal trouble of the last few years. He rests his voice by reading poetry inbetween songs which is pretty good i suppose more interesting were the stories he told of you know who and other people he's worked with, honestly id have sooner have heard more of this, but thats just me. Perhaps the best part of the night oddly came in the shaoe of his son,a small unassuming lad who trotted out to do an everly brothers duet, which worked really well,he then did Smile(though your heart is breaking) with one of the longest high notes ive ever heard,he sounds like his dad too must have sounded like 50 years or so ago. So a mixed bag, some absolute classic played, scarboro fair always leaves me with a tear in my eye one of the highlights, homeward bound as well, hell you know the songs they are classics. So yes not perfect by any means but a concert im glad i went too,if you get the chance i'd recomemnd going becuase when that voice is in full flow,it is THAT voice from so long ago or on the radio.

Seeing Billy Joel on Sunday in a 460 seat venue for an "In Conversation" thing. Got my ticket from Stubhub for $26; it's general admission. Can't wait. And Jon, U2 is on fire this year. Fucking incredible show. You're in luck. Very jealous.
