Wishes for Paul's New Album?
-
Give me 60% Memory Almost Full, 30% New, and 10% Chaos and I'll be 100% happy!

edcrawf:
May I suggest one collaboration with Jack White and one collaboration with Elvis Costello?
maybe Betty White?
-
SusyLuvsPaul:
His songs with Elvis Costello usually came out sounding more like Costello's music than Paul's, though. You think?
that's NOT a bad thing

Add little child on to it. It is nice every once any one in a while to hear love doris
-
Still waiting for the hard rock album from a few years back
-
"Rave On" style ditty--Buddy Holly rockabilly, delightful ! "Great Balls of Fire" Jerry Lee Lewis "hot" style of rockabilly...actually, no, don't want him to blow out his vocal chords on too many like that. (Laughs) Torris from Oz requested a "hillbilly" number--I think he meant to say "rockabilly"

Clem865:
A new Chaos and Creation, definitely
That's my wish too.

I'd love to hear an album that's like a cross between the Flaming Pie/Chaos and Memory Almost Full/Flowers in the Dirt sounds. I feel like this is what New was trying to be. But the problem with New is that its upbeat songs (Queenie Eye, New, Save Us, Everybody Out There, Turned Out, etc) are easily memorable, but there are a ton of throwaway songs (Scared, Get Me Out of Here, Hosanna, Road, etc). Flaming Pie is a near perfect Paul album - A few upbeat songs (Flaming Pie, Young Boy, If You Wanna), a few ballads (Beautiful Night, etc) and some very echoey acoustic songs. I feel like a more rock charged Flaming Pie would be great.

I do agree with the general point, but Turned Out and Get Me Out Of Here are bonus tracks and are not a part of the album(b-sides almost) so they do not count. Although I think I Can Bet is the only real throwaway on NEW, but I love it, great tune, but not on the level as the rest. I hope the next album is like NEW 2, a wondeful album, he has set the bar high. (and hello guys, my name is Spencer(paulmccartneyistheman) from the SteveHoffman forums, I read y'alls stuff too, I just don't respond often)
-
I Can Bet a throwaway?! No way, I love that song (along with most of NEW) I hope his latest album is as good.

Don't worry, no matter what his album is, some fans will be outraged... You could say that Paul is outrageously good at what he does !!! The good news is that he has something for everyone...because if you notice... everyone is asking for more of their favorites...there are so many different genres.
What some consider a weakness - his ability to make pretty much any kind of music - some of us consider one of his greatest strengths. But there's also the issue of longevity. Even if his next album was the greatest work of art any human has ever created, it would be dismissed as inferior to Band On the Run or Sgt Pepper or whatever is supposed to be the height of his success. He's made his Citizen Kane, whatever it is, and everything else will always be a wine commercial.

I Can Bet is just about the catchiest song on the album. I love it.

Well... maybe... but not really.... I guess I was talking about that hillbilly/country style of music. The term 'hillbilly music' did apparently predate 'country music'. Could be proven wrong.

Maybe not a bad title for his next album - "Rosebud".
-
"Newer Memories in the Front Yard"

Yeah, it's a throwaway, though admittedly a catchy one. It's the sort of thing Paul could write in his sleep, without the slightest spark of originality.
-
I do LOVE I Can Bet, it's an awesome song, but a song, as said above me, Paul could write in his sleep. It's Paul by the numbers and I like it a lot, but it's a song that could have been there or not, it's not substantial in the context of the album IMO.

How about "Chimes At Midnight"?

Reminds me of Eric Clapton's great silky smooth rendition of "After Midnight"--your suggested title, Hailey. One of my favorites by Clapton. I can't even come up with a title suggestion for his new album. That's a very personal creative decision only Macca should decide, I think. I might still be able to offer some ideas for one if I let my subconscious percolate and "think on these things" while asleep... I sort of doubt it though as the one idea I did think of was pretty lame. Something about fey English fairy cakes, LOL :
