I was at a Christmas party for our employees and I asked the DJ if he could play Appreciate (told him it was on Paul's NEW album), but he didn't have it and had no internet access to get it! I wanted everyone to hear it. Guess I should have brought the CD and he could have played it on the laptop.
Too bad, as it's a perfect song for the Electric Slide. parlance
OMG! It totally is!
I think someone needs to get a group going and video it. parlance
Maybe Paul can get the "Ever Present Past" dancers to do it!
No...we can all do it!

Why can't he have both "Appreciate" and "Alligator" as more singles from "New"

Don't feel too bad Nancy; neither can I but I love Appreciate.

It's not up to him. Record companies rarely keep releasing singles from albums that have stopped selling. There's no guarantee we'll get a 3rd single, much less a 4th.

I feel you are right. Would take a big clip and a lot of confidence from the business people.... what is a 'record', by the way? ..... I think I have heard of that terminology before, but can't be certain.... 'record'.... I looked it up on the I-tunes search engine, put my flailing fingers out to the internet, but no good....

oh yeah...on the radio for new music Thursday. AMAZING!
-
I don't skip it when listening to the "New" album, but I think "Appreciate" is the weakest track on the album by some distance. I can think of much better choices for a 3rd single. "I Can Bet" , and "Save Us" would be my choices.

Holy cow! I so disagree with you about Appreciate! It's my favorite track and is very modern and might do well if released as a single. I do love I Can Bet (a lot!) and Save Us is great too.

OMG! They are playing it again on the radio!!!

Of course. But record companies don't spend their money beating what they see as a dead horse. That's just reality. I doubt we'll see another single unless Paul is going to do something else -- like tour -- to further promote the album. I'd like to be wrong on this, but I'd bet money that I'm right.

So happy to see this thread being revived. parlance

A belated buzz is better than none at all.

It would be so cool to add it to the setlist!

I am one of the big fans of the song... don't know, though, how it would translate to a live performance, which might be one of the reasons it won't be released.
-
I forget...which other "NEW" songs did he do in soundcheck in Japan? edit to add...I just checked & it was On My Way To Work & Alligator.

Alligator Live during Soundcheck

Since they were so keen on mash-ups, I was thinking during the Grammys that Appreciate might have worked well featuring a hip hop artist. parlance

Don't get me wrong, Paul could pretty much release a version of Ba Ba Black Sheep, and I'd find something to like about it ! It's just that for me there are so many other better songs that are "classic" Paul on the album. "Appreciate" sounds like a so so B side to me , but my tastes are pretty retro. You could be right - this may have a structure or style that could take it further as a single. With singles, I'm kind off out of my comfort zone nowadays
