A new version of "Heart Of The Country" by Paul
-
It's lovely and very well animated. Anyone spot Martha at the end?? I actually like Paul's snippet on Heart of the Country and the harmonica. We just have to appreciate that's how he sounds now. Definitely for LM foods as we have the little heart symbol at the end which is now on all of the packaging.

like it,... not long enuff.. like the subject. the actual video....

Paul could've sang it in its original arrangement if he wanted to. His falsetto voice is very much robust and vigorous. His recent re-recording of "Baby's Request" is another reminder that he still has his ol' vocal magic here n' there.
I love you to pieces, Audi, but this post is just delusional. This was painful to listen to. The new "Baby's Request" is passable, but just a shadow of the original.

always good to hear something of Paul just messy around on a riff, thats how it sounds to me, what is that a recent recording? nowhere near the quality of the official recording, obviously. I'd like to hear Paul do that song, he should put it in the live set!

Check out the main site. Elvis Costello does a voice over for the animated Heart of the Country!
-
"I did a new mega simple version of 'Heart Of The Country' for the Linda animation on YouTube," McCartney posted on Twitter on Wednesday. AIN'T THAT THE TRUTH!
-
Nancy R:
Paul tweeted about this video: From Paul: "Great to see Linda animation up on YouTube - looks great - love it"
?I read on FB today the first video was leaked. Now one can see the entire commercial with Costello's voice over
-
I think that it's a beautiful version. It deserves to be a full length song though. I don't think his voice is that bad that to be honest. It's just different. The way i've described it in the past is that his voice has a patina. McCartney being McCartney I think he can make it work to his advantage.

I think it is very cool! Meant to be background for the commercial. Dylanish harmonica is neat. The animation is terrific! Podgie (what a treat!) Monkey

I wonder who played the harmonica?

Probably Paul. He played it a lot on Electric Arguments.

Paul sounds extremely old in that clip, but I love it at the same time. It's just difficult sometimes to deal with the fact that his voice is aging rapidly in his 70's. Nice advert though, Linda would have loved it!
-
Yeah that's a bit painful to hear but I wonder if the raspiness is not there on purpose to fit the "rough and ready" style. He already sounded "raspy" in 78 on "Don't Let me Down" or in 85 on "Footprints"...I mean his voice sounds rather good during shows (he sounded worse at times in 2002) but his speaking voice is completely shattered so it's a bit hard to understand what's going on... I hope his vocal chords are alright (i.e. no tumor), why is it that they're in such a bad shape when Jagger has never sounded better and he's done his fair share of shouting as well? Did Paul just not exercise his voice enough and damaged it as a result?

I've been wondering the same thing. I think the Mick is more disciplined...in that he lives his daily life in certain ways (controlled room temps, etc.) so as to keep the voice in shape. He somehow has the same body too...except for that old face. He can't keep that the same. It's rather bizarre to see "that" face on that ultra ultra thin 1969 body. Not an ounce of fat then. Not an ounce of fat now!

You're telling me...I was about 1 meter away from him for an hour last October at their club show at the Trabendo in Paris and he looked like he was 35! If he applies the same discipline to his vocal chords than to his spooky body, yeah that would go some ways to explain it! Still, I find Paul's voice to be unusually "hoarse", especially when he talks. Surely he must have had that looked into...well I guess that as long as it doesn't prevent him from playing live there can't be anything serious.

Hmm all this has Paul lost his voice/it sounds terrible business is an odd one for me. Whilst he has not got that boyish smooth lilting voice anymore (he hasn't since about 1986) I think his rock rasp is probably as strong as ever. When I've played the albums since Chaos around the house my Mother who is just the right age to be a Wings fan (she's 55) has remarked a couple of times about how she never really rated Paul as that great a singer in the past and that now his voice has more character and he emotes the songs better. It's an interesting one. Of course a part of this business could be that the people who take a great deal of notice or who are hugely bothered are probably the Paul fans who were young in 1976 or 1990 or whenever and they themselves are not as good as they were and are not too comfortable with being old/their own mortality and everything else was better back then. That's just an opinion. I think he sounds just great from all the boots of the recent shows I've heard. I have no problem with him sounding old. He is old. Play this from the 4:40 mark.

I'll grant you that Mick's voice still has its youthful timbre, but even Mick Jagger's all-time best vocal requires only 1/4 the ability of Paul's all-time worst vocal.

I actually like this version and am getting more used to Paul's older vocals. It's just the way things will be now...
