Why do I have a feeling Paul's next album will be a #1? I've got a funny feeling this ones going to surprise.
From your lips to God's ear.

A bloke in Cardiff, Wales said Paul's new album will come out October 22, 2013. He didn't give a source, though. :

The earlier the better, that album is long overdue...

In 1976 no one was leaving going anywhere when McCartney wasn't singing, this is just not true! It was the very first time a Beatle performed live since they broke up, no one was leaving going anywhere! McCartney with his band works just fine, he should be recording with them! I can easily imagine him giving vocals to his bandmates, especially Abe who is an excellent singer.

I guess it depends on where you saw the concert....in '76. At the Cap Center in Largo, MD they (the crowd) sort of streamed a bit to the rest rooms, to get a beer, or just got a bit restless when Denny Laine and/or Jimmy Mc Culloch sang. It was noticeable. And as far as Abe goes, he does sing well with Paul on stage and provides very nice harmonies. That does not mean, however, that I want him being given a vocal on a new Paul McCartney album.

Rather OT here, but watching "Rock Show" the other day at the theatre it was quite amazing to see Paul take a back seat to Denny and Jimmy for a few numbers and everyone seemed fine with it, both Paul and the audience. Pretty unimaginable these days...Apparently he had Nirvana on stage for 5 numbers last night...let's see if we have a thread about that. Well about Nirvana, an album recorded "live" with these guys would/will be interesting, possibly more than the upcoming album that's been tweaked in the studio for years...

McCartney said "October" in a recent interview with the Italian radio, and now the interview with KEXP yesterday also concluded with the announcement that his new album will drop in October.

Too late in the year to be considered for the Grammy's the next year....assuming it will be good enough to be considered. That's sort of the problem the Beatles had with their albums....Christmas' releases; then they got overlooked. To imagine that only Pepper won the Grammy for best album for them is insane. At least five of their 12 albums of original material are considered to be in the top 15 of the greatest albums of all time, with four of them in the top ten....and 3 in the top 5 and only one Album Of The Year? Please! I don't even want to get started on the Record of The Year issue!

October sounds about right. And if so there will presumably be a single released a month or so before so hopefully we should hear some details soon.

The pre-album single could be eligible. You never know with the Grammys, though. That one live album came out late 2009 and they gave him a Grammy in 2011 for "Helter Skelter" from that! Record of the Year: my favorite is "Hey Jude" losing out to "Little Green Apples".

Since when was that relevant then? Album in October indeed means single in September and announcement in a few weeks. Exciting!

Yeah, that told me all I needed to know about how the Grammy's worked and about how seriously they should be taken. :
-
This new Bloody Beetroots collab track with Paul stands a very good chance of a 2014 Grammy nomination.
-
Rumours have it that this will be Paul's best album since "Band on the Run".

I've heard it also has a " Beatley " sound.

He doesn't have to try, he is the "Beatley" sound!

I've heard Jann Wenner is already calling it rubbish.

Anticipation is starting to build into a white hot frenzy..October isn't far off...it's about f--------g time Jann Wenner can K.M.A. !! I(if he really disparaged Paul's upcoming new album) "Rollingstone" mag isn't worth a P, half the time. More than half the time

This requires believing that nothing Paul has done since then is as good as BOTR. Much as I like BOTR, I can think of 3 or 4 subsequent albums I consider superior. It's all a matter of taste. And rumors at this point should be taken with the proverbial grain of salt -- hell, make that a couple spoonfuls.
