Seeing Multiple Concerts of Tour

I have seen Cheap Trick twenty one times, so I do understand seeing an act multiple times. I never tire of seeing them. But they cost about $25-$75 a ticket, depending on where you sit, or stand. And they play Albuquerque a lot. If I lived somewhere McCartney played all the time, I would have seen him many more times. Even at $250 a pop. But I can't be travelling and paying those prices to go to other states and cities anymore. I am glad I got to see him eight times, he puts on an amazing show. But my concert money this year went to Cheap Trick and Tom Petty, two acts that came to New Mexico.
I have seen McCartney more than any other artist live, very few other artist have I seen more than once. The only other ones I can think of off the top of my head are Billy Joel, Elton John, The Who, Led Zepplin and Bruce Srpingsteen.
When I was 16 and in high school, I was so thrilled he was touring and so devoted that I saw him all four nights at MSG. I initially had tickets to the first and last shows, and was invited on the spur of the moment by friends to see him the other two. Now, with more things going on in my life, I would only see one show, if he was to play where I live. I wouldn't travel to see him. For me, it's excessive in terms of cost and time. I did see both shows at Wrigley, though, and from the fourth row one of the nights. I'd have only gone one night if it wasn't for the fact that I needed to film something very specific for a project I was working on at the time.
Yeah, that's pretty much me. I lived in LA in 1989, so was able to go three nights at the Forum to see McCartney. Tickets were $25 then! I am older now, married, with different priorities. Can't justify taking time off from work to travel to Tulsa or Austin and pay $300 and for hotel and food and travel. Not knocking people who do it, I just am not in a place in my life where I want to or even can. If he plays nearby, I will go.

I went to both Barclays Center concerts - Saturday in a $350 seat and Monday in a cheaper nosebleed one - primarily because I live a 10-minute subway ride from the arena. No travel/hotel money involved, nor a time/inconvenience factor: if he'd played MSG this time - nevermind one of the ballparks or stadia - there's very little chance I would've gone both nights. I'd no desire to travel anywhere else in the U.S. to see him this tour - I'd certainly consider going abroad again to do so but with trans-Atlantic flights now in the $800-900 range, I'd really have to "feel it" to invest that much. I give full props to the folks who do one VIP package, nevermind several, per tour! I would sure love to do one sometime but I just go to too many shows - I've got three next week! - as well as all kinds of other things going on to have the $$ to spare. That said, if he was at the BC again tomorrow, I'd probably be there....

And I totally see your point. If McCartney were playing just down the road from me, how could I NOT go?

Three concerts and then I'm sitting in Nashville now for Bonnaroo. So I guess I am one of these people referenced in the title of the thread. For Orlando, I had no travel expenses.... So buying the super expensive seats was literally once in a lifetime for me. I couldn't afford to do sound check if I had to travel for it. So that's why I did NOT bat an eye when I went to both shows. And I had a blast.

Yes exactly, to each their own. Everyone is at a different stage in their lives and have varying priorities. For me it's the joy of seeing him play live, and IMO, who couldn't use more joy in their lives!?!

I've seen a lot of concerts in my lifetime. Paul is the only artist I will travel for. Wouldn't even consider it for anyone else.

I go to multiple shows every tour-and I guess my answer is the simplest-because I can!!
I'm single, my son is grown and on his own. I've been the responsible one all my life-now I don't have to answer to anyone but myself, and I always say GO SEE PAUL!! One day his touring days will be over, but I will have MANY, MANY great memories of not only him, but the wonderful people I have met through him...... -

It was a great day for me.

I was fortunate enough to see him on *my* birthday two years ago out at Yankee Stadium here in NY...not my best time seeing him but it was special nonetheless! The premier website membership included a poster from that show...from the angle at which the pic was taken, I know I'm in somewhere! I'll keep looking...

Actually, I go to Disneyworld fairly often. You can do one day park hopper and water parks for under $200. If you go to just one of the parks like Magic Kingdom, it is $95 for the day.

Funny, June 18th is my brother's birthday but he is a big Beach Boy (Brian Wilson) fan.

This is the first time I've gone to multiple shows in the same tour and I only did it because both were in Tulsa, where I live. My Mom turned 89 a week or so ago and we had an interesting conversation a couple of weeks ago. I was telling her about my plans for the concerts and she said, "Do what you can, while you can because you won't always be able to do things like that." I've seen several acts when they appeared locally - Herman's Hermits, Beach Boys, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Eagles. I've enjoyed them all, but Paul is the only one I would pay floor seat or VIP prices to see. No one else's music touches my heart like his does. My kids are grown. We scrimped and denied ourselves many things for many years to send them to college. Finally, my money is mine to do with as I please. I'm willing to miss something else so that I can have a once in a lifetime experience at one of Paul's concerts. .

Everyone's situation is different. Even though there's probably a devil somewhere with Paul's soul in his pocket he is 71 and every time I see him may be the last time. I go as much as I can and I sit up front because I can afford it. I've been to the 12/12/12 concert, Live Aid, and a host of others. When I look back on the great times I've had seeing Paul I never think about the money. Some people say to me "If I get in free I'd go but I'd wouldn't pay that much." Fine, then sit in your house and don't do anything.

I went to multiple maccas concerts in 1989, 1990, 1991, 1993, 2003. Since then i have seen macca on each UK tour but only one show each tour.

That's exactly how I feel. I wanna do it again! Enjoy Europe!I am on my way tonight, should be in Poland tomorrow afternoon! A week seeing sights, and the show in Warsaw (on my birthday!). Fly to London, then Verona Italy for an unbelievable show in an Ancient Roman Amphitheatre, then back to England for a few days ("Mrs Browns Boys" at the O2)...then home. What a great vacation. The whole trip is meeting up and hanging out with friends in those countries.
BTW, all made possible because of this Web Forum!!! I am psyched! I should say that as a single Dad, I spent much of my life taking care of my daughter. School events, Baton Twirling, Dance, Gymnastics, and her passion Figure Skating. I never started traveling to shows till she was out of High School and off to College (which I put her through). Now it is my time to enjoy myself. No two shows are truely the same. Seeing the greatest artist performer of our time. Podgie (must have more...dope-a-mine!!!!....) Monkey -
If I could afford to see more than one show or go jetting around, I'd see more than one show per tour. As it is I can't see this tour. But if I could I would. Why? Because it's Paul Frickin' McCartney, that's why. Because he's a Beatle and Living Legend, and he wrote all those songs. And he's a damn great performer to boot! I don't care what his setlist is, I am amazed every time!
