New in the Charts Thread

I don´t Know but it´s selling very good there
-
So, has anyone heard anything about the videos for Early Days and Save us that were reported some time ago? Maybe he'll release the Save Us video as the U.S. tour dates are getting closer.

In Japan, Paul had not been a big seller during the "Heisei-era", although he earned 4 Gold records from the RIAJ. (FITD, OTG, FP, and BITU) However, last year's tour made ''New'' an exceptional hit easily, and it now became even one of his best-selling solo albums! Japanese sales on the Oricon charts (http://www7a.biglobe.ne.jp/~yamag/album2512/al_beatles.html)) 1. ''Tug of War'', 237k 2. ''Pipes of Peace'', 201k 3. ''Give My Regards to Broad Street'', 164k 4. ''Venus and Mars'', 152k 5. ''Band on the Run'', 141k 6. ''Off the Ground'', 92k 7. ''London Town'', 88k 8. ''Wings Over America'', 87k 9. ''Flowers in the Dirt'', 87k 10. ''All the Best!!'', 86k 10. ''NEW'', 86k International Acts with Most Top-10 Albums in Japan 1.Madonna (22) 2.The Beatles (20) 3.Bon Jovi (15) 4.Paul McCartney/Wings (14) 5.The Rolling Stones, Queen, Carpenters, Mariah Carey (13)

Wow, Tug Of War is his top-selling one over there? Very interesting list!

Probably due to the "Ebony and Ivory" single that many people on this board trash. It was huge hit with another music superstar (Stevie Wonder) so it makes sense it would help the album sell.

Yeah, I'm not one of the haters, I've always liked that song.

Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder had both achieved outstanding sales at that time. I guess that Paul's top two-selling albums were apparently lifted by their fans. Don't know well about ''Broad Street'' Instead of having huge hits like Michael's ''Thriller'' (sold over 1.6 million) or Stevie's ''In Square Circle'' (sold nearly 600k), Paul had sustained respectable sales in Japan constantly, during the entire 1970s and 1980s. Even ''Press to Play'' was not a commercial flop at all, though its sales underperformed his previous LPs. In his 70s, Sir Paul McCartney is likely to revisit the success of those years. I hope ''New'' receive a Gold record in Japan.

Count me as another. I think it is great.

All I know to explain Broad Street is that "No More Lonely Nights" is a greatly loved song in Japan. It topped a fan poll of songs that Japanese fans wish Paul would perform live!

I think the songs on GMRTBS are great! It was the movie that tanked. (I actually don't hate it like most do) ops:

The originals in the movie are all fine. Unfortunately, they got overshadowed by the forgettable remakes and the even more forgettable film.

Well, at least we agree on this (if not Bob Dylan!)

It appears that Paul will be fine, and will recover completely from this illness in Japan, which is fantastic news. This story got a good amount of media attention; I wonder if it will nudge New back onto the album chart. I know: not the best circumstances, but it seems possible, at least. We won't know till next Thursday, though.

I'd be surprised to see New back in the charts until he starts playing U.S. shows or there's some other publicity directly about the album.
-
Japan peru south korea and others

Interesting reply... But what do you mean with it?
-
The album is getting back to charts in the places where he played like Peru, Venezuela, South Korea, Japan etc...this is what I said. I think that album could go back on US charts because of the same reason.
-
Looking at the silver-lining of this recent health-scare, it's not exactly bad for business that Paul's name has been in the headlines, and to make the world appreciate the fact that he's still alive n' kicking. I anticipate a well-publicized comeback -- which will benefit the second-phase of NEW's promotion.

Do you have links to these charts? I'd love to see.
